Star Cinema nagtagumpay sa pakulong walang premiere night!

Nagtagumpay ang Star Cinema sa pakulo nilang huwag magkaroon ng premiere night ang entries nilang Enteng ng Ina Mo at Segunda Mano. First time nagdesisyon ang film outfit na huwag magdaos ng premiere night sa hindi nila ibinunyag na dahilan.

Eh, libre ang nanonood ng premiere at promotional tool lang ito, kaya hindi income generating ang event. So para higit na madagdagan ang kita ng movie, hindi na sila nagdaos at diretso sa kaban ng Star Cinema at ibang producers ang kita ng pelikula sa opening day!

So, maging ganoon din kaya ang kalakaran sa 2012 MMFF? No more premiere nights ng mga entries? After all, hindi naman ito requirement ng MMFF Committee.

Anyway, Enteng ng Ina Mo pa rin ang number one at breaking box office records ang movie nila Vic Sotto at Ai Ai de las Alas after New Year’s Day!

Star Magic artists headed by Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson and Sam Milby showed not only how big their talents were but also their hearts.

Piolo actively participated in Star Magic’s feeding program last December 2, 2011 at the Teresa Heights, Fairview. Three hundred undernourished kids from depressed areas of Barangay Pasong Putik were entertained by singers Tom Rodriguez, Akiko Solon and Jovit Baldivino. Comedian Jayson Gainza and "Nasaan Ka Elisa?" actress Melissa Ricks were the hosts.

Also present were Matt Evans, Princess Manzon, Coleen Garcia, Jason Francisco, Julia Montes and Sam Milby. The feeding program was in held in cooperation with Bridges to the Future and ABS-CBN’s 71 Dreams.

The Gerald Anderson Basketball Tournament featuring Star Magic vs. ASAP last November 13 was very successful. Spearheaded by Budoy himself, the event was held for the benefit of Cancer Warriors Foundation and Cottolengo Filipino Inc.

The turnover of checks were done last December 8, 2011 at the ELJ Bldg. in Quezon City. Robi Domingo and Enchong Dee were there to represent Gerald Anderson.

Meanwhile, the benefit show, "A Night to Give Back," held last November 20 in Tomas Morato was equally successful. Piolo and Sam shared how proud they were to perform and looks forward to more show for a cause. The proceeds were given to four beneficiaries namely Elsie Gatches Village, Reception and Study Center for Childresn (RSCC), Sanctuary Center and ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya. The event was attended by 71 Dreams’ Father Tito Caluag, Star Magic head Johnny Manahan, Julia Montes, Robi Domingo, Joem Bascon, Coleen Garcia and Enchong Dee.

Patrol ng Pilipino revisits 2011 stories

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN’s Patrol ng Pilipino will look back on a year of uncovering the stories and emotions behind 2011’s biggest and most notable news reports and features with its look-back special tonight to be anchored by news reporters Jeff Canoy and Ryan Chua.

The ‘Sang Taong Pagpapatrol episode will revisit reports delivered by ABS-CBN’s journalists on the tragedies and natural calamities that jolted the nation and the world such as typhoons Juaning, Pedring and Sendong in the Philippines; the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear outbreak scare in Japan; and the massive fish kill in Batangas and Pangasinan.

Jeff, whose most memorable coverage this year was Sendong catastrophe in northern Mindanao, summed up what the past year meant to journalists in general, “There was progression in the way stories were told and the way journalists performed their watchdog function — people and government were made accountable. I think we all came out of 2011 a little bit stronger, a tad bit tougher and a lot more vigilant.”

For Ryan, 2011 was filled with stories of tragedy and hope that highlighted journalism’s role in uniting the country. He said, “Last year’s coverage showed the immensity of tragedies accurately enough to spur people to action, and how even in the worst situations, the human spirit always triumphs and nurtures hope.”

The yearender will also reexamine how the journalists uncovered and made sense out of the country’s most notorious controversies, including the acquittal of Hubert Webb in the Vizconde massacre case, the death of former AFP chief Angelo Reyes, the plight of Hacienda Luisita farmers and the murder of Ramgen Revilla.

To offer glimpses into our culture and identity, Patrol ng Pilipino went across religions, communities and festivities with its reportage of the Ramadan, the Feast of the Black Nazarene, the Oktoberfest and the Moriones Festival in Marinduque. Also to be presented are inspiring stories such as the rise of the Azkals national football team, the Miss Universe pageant and Prince William-Kate Middleton wedding.

The special airs after Bandila or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26) at 9:15 p.m.

DIETHER OCAMPO

After the success of the teleserye Guns and Roses last year, Alta is on top of Diether Ocampo’s list of things to do in 2012 as he stars in the much-awaited drama with Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban and KC Concepcion. Diet also continues to be a top endorser as he will still be Pizza Hut, Bench, Celio and Oakley’s celebrity model. Naglabas ng panibagong statement ang GMA7 tungkol sa pagkontra sa naunang statement ng ABS-CBN sa statement din ng GMA 7.

Ang GMA 7 ang unang naglabas ng statement tungkol sa umano’y maling claim ng ABS-CBN tungkol sa ratings ng kanilang mga programa. Sinagot ‘yun ng Kapuso Network. Pero nag-react ang ABS-CBN na naka-pending pa raw sa Court of Appeals ang nasabing usapin.

Pero heto ang bagong sagot ng GMA 7:

“GMA Network is rightfully interested in making sure that only accurate information is disseminated to the public based on available court records.

“This is precisely the reason behind GMA 7’s letter – wherein the Network clarified that ABS-CBN’s case against AGB Nielsen has already been dismissed – which was sent to various media organizations last week.

“Said letter was based on the following court records: the Certificate of Finality issued by Atty. Maila Doroteo Santos, Branch Clerk of the Quezon City RTC on January 5, 2010; and the Orders dated October 27, 2010 and March 21, 2011 from Quezon City RTC Presiding Judge Charito Gonzales, which stated that the dismissal of ABS-CBN’s case against AGB Nielsen is final and executory and that the subsequent Petition for Relief from Judgment and Motion for Reconsideration filed by ABS-CBN have been dismissed.”

Unti-unti na namang pumi-pick-up ang mga locally produced movies kaya inaasahan ang pagdami pa ng mga pelikula sa taong ito. Kahit hindi madalas mag-produce ng pelikula ang OctoArts Films ni Orly Ilacad nakatatlo ito last year, ang Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi with two other co-producers, ang mega-hit na Enteng ng Ina Mo nina Vic Sotto at AiAi de las Alas na co-production ng Star Cinema, M-Zet Films, APT Entertainment at OctoArts Films at ang My Househusband ng mag-asawang Judy Ann Santos at Ryan Agoncillo na solo production ng OctoArts.

Star Cinema ang may pinakamaraming pelikulang nagawa last year na sinusundan ng Regal Films. Nakagawa rin ng ilang movies ang Viva Films in co-production with Star Cinema.

Halos lahat, if not all ng mga pelikulang produced ng Star Cinema ay tumatabo sa takilya dahil bugbog ang movie trailers sa mga programa ng Dos. Bukod pa siyempre sa live guestings ng mga stars ng pelikula sa iba’t ibang programa nila.

Pinakapatok na TV network ang ABS-CBN sa mga social networking sites na Facebook at Twitter matapos itong makatamo ng pinakamaraming likes at followers sa pagsasara ng taon.

Mahigit dalawang milyong Facebook users na at mahigit 100,000 Twitter followers ang mas piniling makatanggap ng mga balita at updates mula sa programa, artista, at serbisyong hatid ng Kapamilya Network.

Noong Enero 2, nasa 2,014,649 na ang nag-like sa official Facebook page ng ABS-CBN mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo kaya naman hinirang ito na ikalima sa top Facebook pages sa bansa base sa datos ng social media statistics site na Social Bakers (www.socialbakers.com).

Pinaka-trending naman ang ABS-CBN sa Twitter bilang pinakasinusundang Philippine TV network na may 102,449 followers. Maging ang stars at shows ng Kapamilya Network ay mas tinatangkilik din sa nasabing social networking site.

Unkabogable at nangunguna sa lahat ng Facebook pages sa bansa ang page ni Vice Ganda (3,687,842 likes) na sinusundan ng aktres na si Angel Locsin (2,509,645 likes) at ng morning talent show ng ABS-CBN na Showtime (2,370,759 likes) base pa rin sa Social Bakers.

Nanatili namang reyna ng Twitter si Anne Curtis at natatangi pa rin bilang Pinay na may pinakamaraming followers na umabot na sa 2,116,672.

Kasama niya sa limang Filipino celebrities na may mahigit isang milyong followers ngayon sina Angel Locsin (1,285,841), Vice Ganda (1,228,698), Kris Aquino (1,133,057), at Sam Milby, (1,049,626).

Ang isa pang alaga ni Leo na si Paulo Avelino ay sa Enero 16 din magpa-pilot telecast ang kinabibilangang teleserye sa ABS-CBN na Walang Hanggan.

Sabi ni Leo, sana ay hindi magkasabay ang timeslot ng Walang Hanggan at Legacy.

Naniniwala si Leo na lalong mapapansin si Paulo sa Walang Hanggan dahil maganda ang role roon ng aktor.

Flattered si Paulo tuwing sinasabi ng mga tao na isa siya sa biggest stars ng Dos ngayong 2012.

Thankful si Paulo sa pag-aalaga sa kanya ng Dos pagkatapos niyang lumipat sa Kapamilya network.

Bong confident 'Panday 2' will be MMFF blockbuster

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., star of the action-fantasy movie “Panday 2,” said he is confident that the movie will top the box office at the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which kicks off with a “Parade of Stars” on Dec. 24.

“We outdid ‘Panday 1’ in all aspects – special effects, animation, casting, location, action,” he said.

Carlo J. Caparas echoed Bong’s claim: “I was with them from the day we planned ‘Panday 2.’ We incorporated with it a sequel, ‘Panday 3,’” Carlo J said.

Caparas wrote “Panday” as a comics novel. It was later adapted by Fernando Poe, Jr. for the big screen.

While Senator Bong refuses to confirm production budget, estimates point to no less than P50 million.
