Leo Laporte is is an Emmy Award winning, American technology broadcaster, author, and entrepreneur. Laporte said he purchased his first Macintosh in 1984. He operated one of the first Macintosh-only bulletin board systems, MacQueue, from 1985 to 1988. Laporte has written technology-oriented books including Leo Laporte's Guide to Mac OS X Tiger. In a nutshell, he says the Galaxy S III lives up to all the good things we've heard of it before, and that Samsung has done everything right with this phone. He also says he would choose the Galaxy S III over the One X. He says S-Voice is better than Siri. He loves the stock music player. He also says the Galaxy S III is really fast ( and this is coming from someone who has been using Apple products for many, many years ).

Apple has sought to disrupt the US launch of Samsung Electronic's flagship smartphone by asking a court to ban the product from sale temporarily.

The iPhone-maker claimed the Galaxy S3 infringed at least two of its patents based on its analysis of a model bought in the UK.

Samsung denied the accusation, saying the launch would proceed as planned.

The two firms have been embroiled in dozens of patent and design disputes over the past year.

A judge ordered the chief executives of both to meet in San Francisco and discuss settling their legal differences last month, but the talks did not lead to a settlement.

Since the meeting, Apple has also sought to ban sales of one of Samsung's tablet computers.

'Phenomenal sales'
The latest case centres on two Apple patents: a unified search interface allowing users to scan a wide range of file types and sources; and a way to identify patterns in data and then carry out appropriate actions.

In a court filing, the iPhone-maker acknowledged there was huge demand for Samsung's new phone, but said the South Korean firm had failed to address a complaint it had already made about one of its earlier Android-based models.

"The Galaxy S3 will... irreparably harm Apple for the same reasons as the Galaxy Nexus, but on a much greater scale," wrote Apple's lawyer, Mark Lyon.

"The central premise of Samsung's opposition to Apple's motion for a preliminary injunction was that the Galaxy Nexus had not sold sufficiently well to cause severe enough harm to Apple. While that argument is legally and factually untenable, it is entire inapplicable with respect to the Galaxy S3, which reportedly will sell phenomenally well immediately upon launch."

Apple requested its existing complaint against the Nexus to be amended to include the Galaxy S3. Samsung continues to defend the earlier case and also opposes Apple's attempt to link the motions together.

A statement from the Galaxy-maker said: "Samsung believes Apple's request is without merit. We will vigorously oppose the request and demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S3 is innovative and distinctive... We believe that Apple's actions would only serve to disrupt consumers' access to the latest innovative mobile technology."

The Galaxy S3 went on sale in Europe last month. Sales numbers have not been released, but Vodafone has said that the handset broke its UK record for pre-orders of an Android device.

The device is due to be released in the US on 21 June.

Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone model later this year.

@Piripin_Samurai mag-apply ka na lang sa postpaid plan either Globe or Smart kung gusto mo mas maliit initial cashout. Yun nga lang may babayaran ka monthly, pero may allocation na yun for texts and calls and even mobile internet depending on the kind of plan you get.

Quad-core yung S3 dito. Hindi ba HTC One X dyan sa US is dual-core lang rin (bec. of the LTE chip). yung Quad-core niya is the European/International variant.

I'm waiting to see what Apple comes up with but I might be getting this phone. I'm a little peeved that Verizon (my carrier) isn't participating in the drop box promotion. It's suspected that Verizon has it in mind to have its customers use its own cloud service--for a fee no doubt.

Quad-core yung S3 dito. Hindi ba HTC One X dyan sa US is dual-core lang rin (bec. of the LTE chip). yung Quad-core niya is the European/International variant.

oo nga chief. dual core din pala ang HOX. if I buy the international version, 3G lang makukuha kong signal. sa pinas na lang ako magpapabili ng S3.

made three different reservations in three different globe business centers just to make sure may makuha ako. mag gawa ako ng fourth reservation ko sa sm bicutan. pag wala talaga, kalokohan na binibigay sakin na serbisyo ng globe.

I just recently bought my Samsung Galaxy S3 sa SM North Edsa last June 09 and I must say this phone really rocks! You'll appreciate the design once you have it. Dagdagan mo pa ng unlisurf sa globe maganda talaga. Problema ko eh 24 hours na nakalipas di pa activated ang postpaid plan ko

Yup I reckon this phone is really awesome! Stand by battery life is quite good compared to my Galaxy S II!

I just want to have games that can really show how kick a$$ the screen is though! XD

anong Galaxy S II yung ni-launch dyan sa Australia? the LTE version w/ Sual-core processor or the GSM version w/ the Quad-core processor?

@radascars in my case my Galaxy S III postpaid Globe unit was delivered close to midmorning. The next morning I noticed that my microsim was already activated and I was sent via SMS configurations for both globe mobile internet and mms.
