Matthew 16:18 wasn't the main point of contention....it's just one of the points raised to disprove your "complete apostasy" theory.....but to scrutinize it in part is diverting from the proposition....

the fact is there's a common understanding about the "gates of hell" in that passage and you cannot drag the discussion trying to dispell that common understanding.....

as for the kingdom in Daniel, why would I need to link it with the First Century Church when that wasn't the argument I raised?

Daniel's prophecy was raised to show that the God in OT gave the same guarantee with what was given by Jesus in the NT....that a kingdom would be established by God here on earth and it will never ever be destroyed....
