Singing solo, a dream for Kim Hyun Joong that became true in 2011 was with him since 2007 or even earlier. A video taken in 2007 surfaced when he had a solo interview, he without batting an eyelash nor sounding apologetic, said he had thought of his own album, and he needed to be more confident . He acknowledged his experiences with SS501 will give him that booster power.

Fast forward to 2012, we now see a man with that solid rock of confidence once he occupies his place on stage. He is no longer the Kim Hyun Joong you see on the grounds. Here he visibly transform as if cloaked with magic and waves his baton to cast a spell on his audience. His audience roar with approval, shriek with delight, call out his name, all emersed in a sea of green lights. Kim Hyun Joong charms, he gives you a show where you forget your wordly cares. The handsome face glistening with sweat, hair messed with all the dancing and singing, why the man is all yours -your performer par excellance on the stage. He gives his all and you know it.

His fans and audience are his witnesses to the change in his life in the world of dance music, a fullfillment of a cherished path, so many years in the making, of sweat and tears without regrets.

Who would have thought that a lanky teenager in eyeglasses, though playing bass guitar for a school band would make it this far.But as far as I can see from the few pictures available he already looked different. He had class though clothed in the typical garb of teeners of the time. He was definitely goodlooking.His looks didn't escape the talent recruiters back then who must have possessed the sharp trained eyes of jewelers, spotting the unpolished gem. But did he have the talent? He has his music -as bass player he provides the rhythmic and harmonic foundation of a musical number. A bassist player an often overlooked member but perhaps the most important one providing the consistent pulse of the music. He was acknowledged a good player by others in the field.He went to as far as abandoning at least temporarily the well beaten path of many others to pursue his music.

But how about dancing and singing? Those who did not know, he learned his basic dancing steps the hard way -mastering them in more months than the rest. At least the spirit was willing even if the body resisted for a while. But then he eventually was proclaimed the best dancer no less than than their dancing coach as revealed in an interview. To be able to sing harmoniously, and to dance in synchroneously, the process he had to undergo together with his group was not for the faint hearted. Though it was even said, he was just the eye candy of the group, go back to the footages of his past performances and you can see how well he executed his parts.

To be an idol means sacrifice, tiring and tightly scheduled training, the body and the spirit must conform to routines,deprived of sleep and personal lives as well -all for a dream . Whoever said life is painful, sacrifice is optional must have the idols in mind. Yes,it was not forced on them, it was the road they choose to follow.

So eventually to reach the next phase in their entertainment lives, idols must have steps to take pretty laid down,for one cannot be idols all their lives, and the sheer number of new idols being born every now and then in showbiz, easily crowd the realm. Many came and went on other related occupation like acting,singing solo or disappeared into oblivion.

For Kim Hyun Joong, it was planning using his head, his heart and his body all these years. During these times he must have heard the criticisms hurled his way, though he knew his limits he persisted to prove them wrong. But he never said, let them eat their words, instead tried to win them over with his hard work that were eventually recognized in South Korea, Japan and other countries.

The Kim Hyun Joong had his steps planned all the way back, every step pointing to that direction. It wasn't destiny or fate nor luck, it was personal commitment to music. To make it happen, all in due time.

As for the rest of us , something happened to our hearts ,when we saw him standing there on the stage and we knew he is the one-THE ONLY ONE. Maybe we saw him in one time or the other, but just the same we were there for him. Will still be there for him, didn't he say let us grow old together ?
