Fresh from the just concluded first Fanmeet of Asian Tour 2012 in Singapore, Kim Hyun Joong has also gained another status, another title.
Aside from being a singer, an actor, he is now a officially a SHOWMAN. A showman is a person who makes an effective presentation. The definition looks lame so let me borrow a term used by a reviewer of his show: SPECTACULAR. Is the term justified to use on his show? What makes it spectacular? The word itself reminds us of fireworks or pyrotechnics, something that dazzles with jewel like sparkles, blinds, jolts us out of the ordinary and totally render an unexpected, exciting experience. A total dynamite. But I offer that being spectacular lies not only with the external extravanganza that overwhelm the senses but what is behind all these. It is the concept or the framework of the fanmeet.
The fanmeet as I expounded in a recent article is the flesh and blood meeting, the reality of the star and the fans with each other. It is the star touching base, touching ground.Now through the fanmeet he saw and interacted with the living, breathing fans. The fans on the other hand, met the star no longer in a virtual setting of the small screen of the television or the computer, but also the living, breathing celebrity they have chosen to give their affection.
Kim Hyun Joong is aware of that and and made it the basis of his show. For the fans to know him better, to give the other sides of him. It wasn't only to entertain, but to inform.
