I think, initially, walang ganitong rule talaga na established sa student handbook (or is there any?). Ang bali-balita, gawa-gawa lang ito ng mga FBCs (Freshman Block Coordinators - they're the goody-good guys na nagaasikaso sa mga freshies). Which is quire ironic dahil sa UPM, fraternity ang nag-establish ng FBC.

The answer is a big NO...if you are thinking in a generic manner.

If you are learning a different impression about such groups...I would like to define it for you in terms of membership scope...lol

Though this cant be found in encyclopedias...fraternities/sorrorities are different with brotherhood/sisterhood in UP context. The former does not choose its membership in terms of your income bracket, race and religion...while the latter is confined to your ethnicity...(tagalog/ilocano/cebuano/illongo...etc).

Surface-analysis, yes. But there's just so much doubt that the members of these groups do not actually filter the students they recruit. Scrutiny at its finest muna yan, bago lapitan. Besides, they are always after the welfare of the group.

Hello...just want tobe clarified about your opinion on frat members...What do you mean by too soft?

Cause being a member of one is about having a definitive purpose...to live with the organizational principles...and it is quite a principle for a group to survive and it aint just a soft one...

I guess I will never understand the culture behind these fraternities. Sobrang na-off ako sa lahat ng fraternities (I know, judgemental) since the bar-blast incident along Taft Avenue during the Salubong. From then on, mga barbaric na ang tingin ko sa kanila. Save a few, of course.

  10. #30
And while we're at fraternities and you mentioned Allan K, may mga homosexuals kaya sa mga fraternities / sororities? Kumusta naman ang struggle ng mga 'yon? Lol, curious.

As with the recruitment process...that would really depend on the mindsets of those running the fraternity vis a vis the recruitment rules...lol. Ideally, it should be quality rather than quantity. Well, reality check - it's more on the subjective aspect rather than the objective. "pare pogi yan...ok ah...sige...may car pa...ok...taga UP naman ah"

Let's just say that I once dated a fratman.

Nung sinabi niya yung mga yun, napaisip ako kung ano ang na-miss out ko by not joining that frat.

Or in denial lang sila.
