Hi there, napansin ko maraming nagtatanong tungkol sa paglipat sa Ateneo so reading this might help you guys. First take ko ng ACET waitlisted ako so nag-aral muna ako sa ibang university for one year tapos lumipat ako. pasensya na kung magulo medyo rushed kasi to

-same lang ang test ng incoming freshman at incoming transferee.
-meron ulit essay sa application form. ayusin niyo yan kasi sobrang bigat talaga ng value niyan. kahit na maraming mali yung test mo, basta nagustuhan ni Fr. Que yung essay baka makapasok ka pa.
-WAG kayong pipili ng course na hindi niyo gusto para lang makapasok ng Ateneo dahil magshishift din kayo niyan at mas lalo lang kayong madedelay. Wala kasing kinalaman ang pagpili ng kurso sa pagpasa ng ACET maliban nalang kung quota course ang gusto mo.
-maraming transferee ang kumukuha ng communications, interdisciplinary studies, european studies and other seemingly "easy" courses para lang makapasok sa ateneo (sa block namin maraming taga COM at IS na gustong nang magshift kasi hindi talaga nila gusto sa simula palang).
-Sa mga gustong kumuha ng SOM course like management wag kayong matakot na baka hindi kayo maaccept, meron din samin MGT
-tawag sa block ng transferee block TR )
-hindi lahat ng kumukuha ng transferee exam ay BUMAGSAK nung unang take ng acet. Marami lang talagang lumipat kasi hindi nila type yung univeristy nila.
-marami kayong magiging blockmate na foreigner
-expect blockmates from UP, UST, DLSU (pinakamarami), CSB, MC, UA&P
-Usually May-June ang release ng results. Wag kayong aasa sa email or padala ng letter. tawag kayo sa office mga once a week. nalaman ko na pumasa ko 1 week bago ang deadline ng confirmation ng slots so....

-kapag pumasa ka, sobrang hassle ang pagcredit ng subjects idedetalye ko yan.

-kapag hindi ka naman pumasa, nasa sayo na kung gusto mo iretake yung ACET ulit pero yun nga lang madedelay ka. marami akong blockmates ngayon 2-4 years na delayed pero ok lang sa kanila.
-kapag hindi ka accepted hindi ibig sabihin na bobo ka. maraming atenean matalino nga di naman ginagamit sa tamang paraan .

-para sa mga nagtatanong kung 1st year ka ulit sa ateneo, depende yan sa mga number ng subjects na mapapacredit mo.
-para magpacredity ng subject hanapin niyo yung mga syllabus ng old subjects niyo kasi kailangan niyo idetalye yung course info, grade at number of units.
-merong mga subjects na sure credit like NSTP at PE. yung iba naman irereview ng chair ng department. meron namang may validation exam like english at history 165. napasa ko yung dalawa. madali lang ang english mahirap yung history 165 (dalawa lang kami pumasa).
-para sa mga science subjects, 4 ang science subjects ng ateneo sa buong first year. dalawa bawat semester. natsci lecture (3 units) at natsci lab(1 unit). papapiliin ka kung gusto mo chem,bio,environmental science,physics,botany,etc. mataas ang chance na icrecredit ang science mo basta lang sakto sa number ng units. just a tip pinakamadaling natsci ng ateneo ang environmental science pero madaling mapuno.
-Hindi nacrecredit ang FIL11
-psy101,sci10,lit13,history,accounting10,math11,PE,FLC pwedeng icredit (refer nalang sa curriculum ng ateneo kung ano tong mga subjects nato)
-bawal lumampas ng 1/3 units taken from old university ang pwedeng ivalidate. magbabawas sila. may edge dito ang mga taga DLSU since trisem sila so more units.
-pwede karin hindi magpacredit ng subjects

Thanks for the info, and I could really relate to this topic.

Here's my story:
I've taken the ACET 2009 and I failed it. So, I enrolled my AY 2010-2011 in another college for 1 year. When I took the ACET again as a transferee applicant this year for AY 2011-2012, I got rejected again. When I asked the Office of Admission and Aid if I can apply again as a transferee the coming school year they told me I can't already because they have a policy of having a maximum of 2 ACET takes only. That really disappointed me. Upon knowing the decision result, I decided to make an appeal letter for reconsideration, but I got informed that they no longer accept appeal letters due to the overpopulating crisis of Ateneo students for the coming school year. (again, another disappointment)

I think I had a great essay, recommendation letters, and ACET score, but my freshman grades are below average. So, I guess this is why I got rejected.

I'm finding a way to get in Ateneo, no matter how delayed I am.

Just to share my experience....Like wtfwtf321, I was also a below average student back in high school (failed math, science and english...barely passed my other subjects). Come my 1st year grades, I failed a 4 unit major subject and a 3 unit minor one so I really thought that I wasn't gonna pass. But come college,I now come across A's & B+'s which goes to show that high school is really just high school. So to those who wanna transfer, maybe your college grades wouldn't be the determining factor based from my personal experience. I guess it's how well you fare taking the ACET again and the essay that you're going to submit. I was tempted to treat my essay as an excuse letter as to why I did not pass my first take (do not do this). Never stray away from the question "Are there any significant experiences that helped define you as a person?" Make it Real. Genuine. Believable.

Sa 800 students na kumukuha ng transferee exam bawat taon, hindi lahat sa kanila bumagsak ng unang take kaya mas mahirap makapasa dahil kasabay mo rin ang nakapasa ng first take. Idagdag mo pa ang bias ng ateneo sa mga nakapagaral sa mga jesuit schools (karamihan talaga ng naaaccept na transferee ay mga taga ateneo high school) pero kung mataas naman talaga ang acet mo, papasa ka. Mga 40 lang ang tinatanggap na transferee kaya parang dadaan ka talaga sa butas ng krayom kung hindi mo inayos ang exam at essay. Worth it talaga ang Ateneo education (so siguro pagkatapos mo itong basahin, gamitin mo yung drive para galingan sa exam). Hindi ko pinagsisisihan na lumipat ako sa Ateneo .

Hi guys!
Ateneo has been a long-held dream of mine since God-knows-when. It really really broke my heart when I didn't get in. I even submitted a letter of appeal but I guess that didn't work out either.

I am currently a freshman in DLSU and I just took the ACET earlier this morning.

At first, I was so determined to take the ACET but the thought of taking it again scared me to death. Plus, I just couldn't take another rejection. Over the break, I tried getting it out of my mind but I just couldn't. A week before the ACET, I decided not to take it. I convinced myself that I was happy in DLSU... but I knew I was lying. So I had a change of heart (again) I guess.

I thought the ACET was a tad easier than I have expected but I wasn't prepared at all! I think I kind of screwed up the essay part too. Again, it was a last-minute decision. But I have fairly good grades. I became a DL during my first term in DLSU, my 2nd term grades were average. I am also very active in my org. I joined competitions within the university, and am active in the church as well. I have yet to fill out the application form, ask recommendations from teachers and finish my essay.

Do you think I have a chance?

kung gusto mo talaga ng ateneo, lahat gawin mo para makapasok. kung bumagsak ka ulit for the nth time, nasa sayo naman yan kung okay lang sayo madelay ng ilang taon. meron akong mga blockmates 21 years old freshman parin.

para sakin, di ako sigurado kung tutulong ang pagigingDL or pagiging active sa maraming orgs kasi nakapasa naman ako kahit bagsak ang mga majors ko at kahit na wala akong orgs na sinasalihan. score mo lang siguro sa ACET ang titingnan. pero kung bumagsak ka at balak mo magappeal, malaki siguro ang tulong ng pagiging DL at pagsali sa orgs in this case.

naramdaman ko rin yang nararamdaman ko dahil hindi rin ako pumasa nung unang take. dapat nga mas madali na ang 2nd take mo ng acet kasi alam mo na yung mga klase ng tanong and not to mention halos lahat naman ng inaral mo nung first year ng college, more or less scope na ng ACET .

meron din akong kaibigan pangatlong beses na niya magtake ng ACET. isipin mo nalang kung ano mararamdaman niya kung hindi parin siya makapasa. honestly, hindi naman talaga ibig sabihin na bobo ka kung hindi ka pumasa ng ACET. taga dlsu ka diba? ako rin kasi taga dlsu dati. halos pareho lang naman ang mga tao diyan at dito. napapansin ko nga, yung mga blockmates ko ngayon na hindi rin pinalad pumasa nung first take, mas mataas pa yung mga grade dun sa mga pumasa. napansin ko rin sa sarili ko yan. minsan ako nga ang pinakamataas sa class. so baka hindi rin talaga accurate ang ACET sa pagmeasure ng intellectual capacity ng isang tao pero hindi ko naman din sinasabi na matalino ang mga bumagsak ng ACET. depende talaga sayo kung paano mo titingnan yung results.

isa pang napansin ko sa college (ewan ko lang kung ako lang ang nakakapansin nito) yung mga taong matataas yung grade nung high school biglang bumababa at yung mga mabababa dati sila yung tumatalino. lumalabas yung pagka underdog

matanong ko lang taga anong college ka ba? COE, COB, ***....?

Hey, I just took the ACET for transferees last week too

Well since we're all sharing our stories, might as well join in:

Back in my senior year of high school (2009), I was very undecided on how I should proceed with my life. Undecided I may have been on what I really wanted, I still had a plan for the next year which was to take up Pharmacy in UP Manila. That was what my mom wanted; she didn't force me actually, I just didn't know what else to do and I didn't entirely dislike the idea so I just went with it.

So I took the the ACET, UPCAT, DLSUCET, and the USTET. I chose AB Pol Sci in Ateneo just for the hell of it, BS Com Sci in DLSU because I like technology and Pharm in UST just in case I didn't pass the UPCAT. After I took all of the tests, I thought:
1. I'm sure as hell I didn't pass the UPCAT
2. I don't know how well I did in the ACET but I don't care.
3. I'm sure as hell I passed the DLSUCET and USTET, too easy!

Then one by one the letters came. As expected I got in both UST and DLSU on my first choice. I seriously considered going to DLSU then since I liked my course there and I came from a La Sallian high school and most of my friends were going there. Didn't even consider UST anymore after the test since I found their test to be the easiest out of the four and that was a major turn off for me.
When I got the ACET results, I was pleasantly surprised that I got in. I didn't know what to think of it then, just that I was happy I passed 3 out of 4 of the top universities in the Philippines. I thought to myself: "It's been a good run but I'm sad that the streak has to end when the UPCAT results are released."
Then came the dreaded day, the day the UPCAT results were released. I checked the web site line by line until I found my name. I was shocked, I was completely expecting that I failed and yet there I was on the list of people who passed. I was so happy.... until I saw the course I got accepted in. Dentistry, my second choice. It was disappointing but I just took comfort from the fact that I still passed and I could just shift next year anyway. So then it was all set, I was going to UP Manila and shifting to pharmacy the first chance I get. A month later, I got an email from Ateneo inviting me to their open house. I decided to go because I thought it would be fun even though I wasn't planning to go there.

I went with my mom to the open house. My mom fell in love with the campus and suddenly she was egging me to go there instead. I was still open to going there if I like what I hear about my course (AB Pol Sci) during the talks. But I didn't. I liked the campus enough to reconsider going there but the plan of taking up Pharm in UPM was already embedded in my brain and I'm the type of guy who doesn't like deviating from a plan. So I had the liberty of picking among the top 4 universities in the Philippines and it fed my ego. My ego in turn, drove me to choose the highest ranked university which is UP. I thought I wanted to be among the top minds of the Filipino youth.

The next thing I knew, it was already the first day of class in my new university. I spent 2 semesters and half of the subsequent summer there. I found the whole ordeal unpleasant to say the least. I won't mention the specifics just that I didn't like the people, the campus was horrible, the environment was not conducive for learning and I just simply hated my course. And may I say that I didn't find the academics there worthy of its reputation. I didn't find anything special with UP is my point. By the end of my first semester, I actually asked my mom if I could still transfer but she didn't want me to, she said I made my choice and I should stick with it. I started to slack off and lost my focus. By the end of the year I failed 2 subjects due to incomplete requirements and 1 due to absences and I had poor grades in the rest. Because of that I wasn't eligible to shift. Being there made me depressed and I hated school; I know that is not a valid reason for not having taken my studies seriously but I felt hopeless about my impending future as a dentist.

Halfway through my required summer classes, my parents told me that they saw how miserable I was and finally allowed me to transfer. I can't tell you guys how happy I felt then, it was like having been freed from jail after 25 years inside. They even allowed me to drop my summer classes, good thing there were only two. So I asked around on how I could transfer to both DLSU and Ateneo. I found out DLSU had a very strict transfer policy and I absolutely wasn't qualified based on my performance in my freshman year. Luckily, Ateneo's policy was the opposite, just take the ACET again. I was happy since I already passed it once, I was confident I could pass it again. Since I couldn't transfer for SY 2011-2012 and I couldn't stand another year in my personal hell that is UPM, I decided to stop schooling until next year, thankfully my parents permitted me.

So here I am. Been out of school for 8 months now and I did nothing but be a bum all year. It's been one week after my second ACET and I feel like I did alright. All I could do now is pray and hope for the best. Although I can't help but worry a little since I don't have a contingency plan in case I don't get accepted. But I don't want to dwell on it too much, I'll worry about it when it comes. To be honest, it's just now that I realize I wanted to go to Ateneo all along. While my mom and I were in the open house, she said that she knew me well enough to say that I wouldn't like it in UP at all but I was blinded by my ego. I should have listened to her, it could have saved me all the trouble and the wasted time. I now consider having gone to UP as the biggest regret of my life so far. Although, in spite of all that, I have learned many lessons and I will be sure to learn from them. Maybe I could even write my essay around this story .

By the way, I'm taking up MIS in Ateneo. If I get in, I'm planning to just retake most of my subjects so I can have better grades. I guess this my second and last chance of a good college life.

kung gusto mo talaga ng ateneo, lahat gawin mo para makapasok. kung bumagsak ka ulit for the nth time, nasa sayo naman yan kung okay lang sayo madelay ng ilang taon. meron akong mga blockmates 21 years old freshman parin.

para sakin, di ako sigurado kung tutulong ang pagigingDL or pagiging active sa maraming orgs kasi nakapasa naman ako kahit bagsak ang mga majors ko at kahit na wala akong orgs na sinasalihan. score mo lang siguro sa ACET ang titingnan. pero kung bumagsak ka at balak mo magappeal, malaki siguro ang tulong ng pagiging DL at pagsali sa orgs in this case.

naramdaman ko rin yang nararamdaman ko dahil hindi rin ako pumasa nung unang take. dapat nga mas madali na ang 2nd take mo ng acet kasi alam mo na yung mga klase ng tanong and not to mention halos lahat naman ng inaral mo nung first year ng college, more or less scope na ng ACET .

meron din akong kaibigan pangatlong beses na niya magtake ng ACET. isipin mo nalang kung ano mararamdaman niya kung hindi parin siya makapasa. honestly, hindi naman talaga ibig sabihin na bobo ka kung hindi ka pumasa ng ACET. taga dlsu ka diba? ako rin kasi taga dlsu dati. halos pareho lang naman ang mga tao diyan at dito. napapansin ko nga, yung mga blockmates ko ngayon na hindi rin pinalad pumasa nung first take, mas mataas pa yung mga grade dun sa mga pumasa. napansin ko rin sa sarili ko yan. minsan ako nga ang pinakamataas sa class. so baka hindi rin talaga accurate ang ACET sa pagmeasure ng intellectual capacity ng isang tao pero hindi ko naman din sinasabi na matalino ang mga bumagsak ng ACET. depende talaga sayo kung paano mo titingnan yung results.

isa pang napansin ko sa college (ewan ko lang kung ako lang ang nakakapansin nito) yung mga taong matataas yung grade nung high school biglang bumababa at yung mga mabababa dati sila yung tumatalino. lumalabas yung pagka underdog

matanong ko lang taga anong college ka ba? COE, COB, ***....?

I really don't know how much it affects your chances but I also have 4 failed subjects, 2 Incompletes, and 1 Dropped class (embarassing, I know, I just really disliked my course and school) and I still got in. I don't know how well I did in the ACET but I can tell you I barely studied and I just reused my old application essay 2 years back. I don't know if passing the ACET before helped my chances or not.

So if I put in minimal effort to get in, just think about how good your chances will be if you give it your best. You should definitely apply and don't let your bad grades be an excuse for not trying. I was also hopeless back when I applied but I am so very thankful that I did it. Now I'm looking forward to studying in Ateneo this June.
