Hay ineng.. I like 69 & you're clearly 5.ayyy ilang oras ka umeffort dito te?
baka napag iwanan ka na ng panahon ateng ilan taon ka na pala para magkaalaman na...
i asked my mom about mdna and she said, "para lang naman yang britney spears nung panahon namin si Mdna kung kumanta.."
#mylastpostaboutthis on lady gaga thread
And.. well.. there's proof right there that your mother never had or never will have a future in music analysis.. And, truly, there's NO accounting for taste (or obvious lack thereof) of even some mothers
As to time & effort spent.. keri lang at para di masayang ang "effort" ko, eto..
BASAHIN MO PA PARA MATUTUNAN MO!
Now, let me TUTOR you on the intricacies of POP ART and how things work as artists..
1st.
The Marilyn Thing.
Madonna at the outset TALKED heavily about Marilyn in her work and how the Marilyn image and the archetype associated with her image intrigued her. So, from the start, Madonna was UPFRONT. But, the POP ARTIST that Madonna is, she was not content on showing Marilyn images-- w/c is actually FINE as Madonna is a POP STAR appropriating a MOVIESTAR'S image in her work. Madonna upended the Marilyn image and turned its meaning drastically, from one of being a VICTIM (w/c Gaga tries to bring back to get sympathy for herself-- w/c is a discussion for later) into one of POWER and SELF-DIRECTION. When we see the Madonna-Marilyn, we see the BOMBSHELL becoming the holder of sexual power, instead of the "male eyes or gaze" that traditionally controls her. That's why chauvinist males & self-loathing females (esp. in media) HATE Madonna.. coz she's not only truly sexy, she has BALLS. Bigger balls than most of them.
Besides, the Marilyn image ITSELF was fashioned after the original blond bombshel: Jean Harlow.. W/c is more the copycat thing coz Harlow was also a moviestar.
What Madonna did with Marilyn is akin to what Andy Warhol did with the Campbell's soup can.
This is the real can (although a much recent one)
And here's a Pop Art take of Warhol of the can
As you see, the can was designed by SOMEONE.. but Warhol recontextualized it on painting to give it a whole new meaning, a different dimension totally separate from the original designer's. Thus Warhol was NOT copycatting on the can's designer. KUHA MO?
Bring that to Gaga who copies from ANOTHER pop star; using a pop star's appropriation for her own. And Gaga is so DISHONEST about it, saying she did it by herself and talks as if SHE created what she "created". WTF.
That, dear monsters.. is what separates Madonna from the real copycat ways of Gaga. Caca just... COPIES. End of.
Kuha mo?
2. The Kylie thing
As EVERYONE knows, Kylie is one of the early Madonna wannabes. The good thing was that she's always been HONEST about it, about copying Madonna. She's a true fan. (She even tweeted recently a giddy good luck to Madonna for the MDNA tour premier!).. Kylie KEPT on doing homages to M in her shows and M returned the favor by wearing Kylie shirts and doing Kylie homages of her own. Thus there was a FRIENDLY back and forth. All in fun, all in awareness.
But.. LOL.. mongsters are so eager to catch on ANY hint of Madonna ripping off others that they totally lose the plot.. and show their MASSIVE ignorance of history and art.
Dearies.. what Kylie did on the Aphrodite Tour was GRECIAN THEMED: you know, ancient classical GREECE. The Greece of mythologic gods & goddesses. Look at the costumes! What Madonna did on the SB was pseudo-historical: EGYPT IN THE ROMAN ERA w/ a twist.. particularly, CLEOPATRA ENTERING ROME. M was doing more a Liz Taylor! Duh.
Now, quick, scan your encyclopedias or google and notice the difference between Roman/Egyptian vs. Greek!!![]()
