Ang alam ko, psychiatric evaluations is being mandate by the court during the trial, kung ang lawyer ng suspect is using mental alibi para kumbinsihin ang judge or jury na wala sa matitinong pag-iisip ang client nya when he/she committed the crime. Sa case ni GMA, she is using it to seek medical treatment abroad. at hinde pa s'ya under trial.

That's not its only use. It's also used, for example, to measure the state of mind of a witness, like if the witness is a minor who is giving testimony outside of parental supervision. A psychiatric evaluation is used upon court's orders to see if the child can distinguish between right and wrong. Or if a witness is mentally fit to take the stand.

Whatever purpose GMA is using her doctor's diagnoses for, what matters is that IIRC, the court can order the doctor's diagnosis checked, and that means that doctors have that responsibility to protect their reputation because all their results are subject to a second opinion, unlike lawyers.

Now GMA is under arrest, it is a different case. Personally, I will appreciate if the court directs the DOH to conduct a full medical checkup for GMA.

As someone who's been treated and cared for by St. Luke's, I find this suggestion both rude and crude. I, as well as my mother, can attest to the high quality of service and professionalism that exist in the hospital, and it is unfair to even suggest that the hospital and its doctors are in connivance with GMA.

St. Luke's went through a lot before it became the hospital that it is now (it would have gone bankrupt in the 70s/80s, if not for the efforts of the Episcopalian Church), and its doctors spent so much time, energy and money to earn their licenses and reputations. I don't think anyone in their right mind would sacrifice their hard-earned successes just to protect a single person, let alone an unpopular and much maligned former president.
