Robert Pattinson Supports Kristen Stewart At On The Road Premiere



Actor Robert Pattinson arrived in Cannes today to support his 'Twilight' co-star and girlfriend Kristen Stewart on the red carpet for her new movie 'On The Road' which premieres this evening.

It is the first time the couple have walked the red carpet together, except for the 'Twilight' movies and is a sure sign that they are finally happy to publicly acknowledge their love.

The Twlight heartthrob was looking rather dapper earlier in the day when he almost tripped over and fell into a boat in Antibes to take him to the Cannes Film Festival to accompany his beau.

The 26-year-old Twilight heartthrob was leaving the luxurious restaurant Eden Roc in Antibes, part of the iconic five star hotel in the South of France, when he could have hurt that famous face of his when he almost stumbled onto a boat en route to Cannes.

The star was spotted by paps leaving the grand resort looking sharp in a black suit, white shirt and skinny black tie which he accessorised with some black shades.

Maybe he was thinking about Ms. Stewart when he got distracted and almost tripped up. His famous girlfriend arrived in Cannes yesterday without her hunky beau Robert and will be attending the premiere of her new movie On The Road this evening.

Robert Pattinson attends Kristen Stewart's 'On The Road' premiere at Cannes

Today, Robert Pattinson has made his big Cannes Film Festival entry (his first appearance at the fest since 2009) for the premiere of Walter Salles' On The Road, the long-awaited book-to-film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's infamous beat generation novel of the same name which stars his Twilight Saga co-star and partner Kristen Stewart.

Pattinson is in attendance of Cannes by his own merits as well, as his own film Cosmopolis - a book-to-film adaptation of Don DeLillo's book, directed by David Cronenberg and featuring him in the lead - screens in competition for this year's Palme D'Or festival prize this Friday, May 25th. Both he and Stewart are expected to join his co-stars and the Cosmopolis filmmakers on the red carpet for the film Friday as well.

Solo Rob Pattinson hits Kristen Stewart's Cannes red carpet



The exciting news: Rob Pattinson attended girlfriend's Kristen Stewart's Cannes premiere of On the Road.

On the downside, the super-lowkey couple continued to keep it very much on the downlow. Pattinson walked the red carpet solo, a full half-hour before Stewart arrived.

What's French for "bummer"?

Pattinson arrived so early for the red carpet that the Cannes television station which broadcasts the gala events was not even airing it. Producers scrambled to get shots of Pattinson walking past, hastily cutting into their festival coverage to show him.

He did not give a television interview.

The stubbled Pattinson spent 15 minutes on the carpet for photographers, ensuring maximum publicity for the film -- which opens in French cinemas today. He was greeted by the festival director Thierry Fremaux, then took his seat inside the theater.

Stewart arrived with her Road co-star Garret Hedlund in a vintage car. There was a moment of levity as the tuxedo-wearing valet could not work the car's handle to open it, leaving Stewart stuck in the car as the crowd screamed for her.

She then walked the red carpet with her co-stars. Even inside the theater, Pattinson and Stewart did not openly recognize each other, and took seats in different rows.

It could have been a big moment for a festival looking for a new King and Queen. Last night's premiere of Killing Them Softly featured mega-star Brad Pitt, but no Angelina Jolie (Pitt said she's about to work on another project).

Pattinson and Stewart have competing movies in the festival, Pattinson's Cosmopolis premieres on Friday night, leaving the opportunity for the two stars to walk down the carpet together. But it's not looking likely.

But at the movie's world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival tonight, all eyes were on Kristen Stewart as she stole the show in her sexy split dress.
The actress, 22, showed a lot more flesh than usual in a cream, embroidered Balenciaga gown with a thigh-high split on the left.

Robert Pattinson Steps Out to Support Kristen Stewart at Cannes!



What happens in Cannes…well, doesn't stay in Cannes, actually. Not when the whole world is watching and anticipating your every move, that is.

Which is exactly what happened for our favorite couple today at the On the Road premiere held in the French Riviera. As we first told you, Robert Pattinson hit the red carpet to support gal-pal Kristen Stewart as she debuted her anticipated adaptation of the classic novel.

And don't they just make one dapper couple?!

Unfortunately though, the couple did not walk together—guess we will have to wait until Breaking Dawn Part 2 debuts to see some red carpet photos of the twosome, eh?

We can't wait! It'll be so bittersweet! But back to the movie premiere at hand…

Instead, Kristen hit the prestigious carpet (along with its infamous staircase) with her On the Road cast and alternated on the arms of costars Tom Sturridge, Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley for photo ops.

The Twilight leading lady was decked out in a killer Balenciaga gown (a follow up to her chic Balenciaga pants and jacket from earlier this morning, natch) and continued the tour de couture she kicked off with her fab Snow White and the Huntsman premiere gown.

As for Rob?

The dude looked spiffy and fairly clean shaven (what would our R.Pattz be without a little scruff?) in a traditional black suit as he posed for a pics before heading into the theater to watch his lady's movie.

Inside the theater, K.Stew stuck with her cast while Rob sat in the row in front them, though he did clap for the entirety of the cast—including, of course, his real life Bella Swan—as they entered and took their seats.

Too cute!

Mama Jules Stewart was also in attendance (reuniting the Stewart women after Kristen's work schedule kept her away from her mom's K-11 Cannes debut).

Now here's the big question: Think Kristen will return the favor and hit the red carpet (in, fingers crossed, another killer designer gown) for the Cosmopolis premiere Friday?

while i was searching the net for early movie reviews for ON THE ROAD ( i'm a fan of the book and kristen's as well), I found this article. thought i'd share it..
KRISTEN STEWART'S GREAT STRAT TO CANNES.
-YES.

That Marchesa she wore at the London premiere of Snow White And The Huntsman was horsesh-t. Click here if you need a reminder and want to shudder. But I wondered at the time if she was saving her load for her first splash at Cannes.

I mean...

THIS is what this girl can do with original, inspired clothing. Kristen Stewart has all the physical attributes. THESE are the kinds of pieces that do her justice.

As for On The Road, as noted earlier, though I have some issues with the film itself, the performances were outstanding, all of them. For most of the young actors, On The Road features their best work to date. Tom Sturridge is incredible as Carlo Marx/Allen Ginsberg, at once vulnerable and light, cheeky but unforgiving. He was mesmerising every time he came on. I really wish they’d give him more chances. Because there’s a lot of raw talent here that we’re missing out on. Sam Riley was strong too, overshadowed perhaps by Garrett Hedlund (we’ll get to him later), but more than adequate in his role (although I was too distracted by how much he looks like a cross between Pete Doherty and Chris Noth). And then there’s the fearless Stewart in her finest and most aggressive effort, throwing down a very impressive challenge to some of her peers, almost as though she was toying with them before - what Twilight? I just didn’t feel like showing you my arsenal before, but now that I have...aren’t you afraid?

In On The Road Stewart’s MaryLou is angry, sexy, innocent, corrupt, and very tangible all at the same time. Hers is a challenging energy that confronts you during every scene. I’ve never believed her so much as a character. Recently it’s her work in the upcoming Snow White And The Huntsman that’s been getting the most attention as a showcase for her abilities beyond Twilight. Stewart was good ok in Snow White. But she is magnificent in On The Road. Wait for it.
