so who are your favorites this season? seems like every major player reloaded this winter
Even though New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels re-upped their arsenal in American League, I still like the chances of Texas Rangers of retaining the AL crown. they still have the most potent offensive line-up and their hunger for the title continues to grow.
as for a weaken National League, the Phillies will be again an overwhelming favorites to win the league, with a new-look Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers completing the playoff teams.
yeah I think it will be the Reds and Cardinals slugging it out in the NL Central, Dodgers and Giants in the NL West, Philly will make it in the East
AL Central is a no brainer, the wildcard is interesting, the Yanks, Red Sox, Rays, Rangers and Angels are fighting for 3 playoff spots
wait approved na ba yung extra wildcard for this season?
I don't think the Dodgers will make the 2012 play-offs considering the DiamondBacks and the Giants in their division have excellent pitching.
But we'll see. If they expand the play offs like in the NBA ....Maybe some Hollywood guys would buy the Dodgers.
Looks like it's close, ten teams in the postseason. Shucks. Not a fan of this one, let alone the wild card system.

I like it actually. It makes the division races more interesting. Kasi nga sometimes (like the Red Sox and the Yankees) the two teams on top of a division are so far ahead of the rest of the league that they know they are assured of at least a wild card. So ngayon they would really work harder to win the division so that they will not fall into the one-game only wildcard playoff.
SF beats LA 8-4.![]()

Player from Tampa Bay injures himself towelling off. What?
OFFICIAL: Yankees re-sign LHP Andy Pettitte to 1-year Minor League contract with invitation to Major League Spring Training.
really
let's go giants!!!
I can't wait for Barry Zito's contract to be over. They need to sign Matt Cain after this year. Lincecum will also be a free agent after 2013 season.
Chipper Jones to retire after this season, Hall of Famer.
I couldn't disagree more.
It is well known that Cashman approached AP in the offseason and offered him a 10-12M dollar deal, which AP declined. AP approached the front office later (after the Pineda and Kuroda transactions) and Cash said that there is no need for more starting pitching. AP insisted, and Cash offerend him his 2.5M deal.
Pineada out of shape? Sure he came in camp 10lbs over his usual weight which (1) is not that big of a deal considering his size, and (2) which he has shed during ST.
Hughes declining fastball velocity? What is this, spring training last year? Hughes has been one of the better starting pitchers for the yanks this ST. Better than Nova and Pineda for sure.
Freddy is the 6th starter as it stands, even if he gets injured, the Yankees still got three major league ready starting pitchers back in AAA in Warren, Phelps, and Mitchell. Not to mention top prosprects Banuelos and Betances.
Then, there is the issue of AP turning 40 soon. No guarantee that he would be better than any of the guys that he could be replacing (Nova, Pineda, Hughes, Freddy) or the guys that he is 'blocking' (Phelps, Warren, Mitchell, Banuelos).
Like Cash said, there was really no need for more starting pitchers as the Yankees boast one of the deepest, if not THE deepest starting pitching depth, with 9-11 pitchers now ready to contribute as starting pitchers. Andy is more of a luxury, not a necessity, as he extends that already deep starting pitching depth.
They got quantity. But based on their early exit in last years play-offs they need quality. Theres a big drop-off after CC.
They should try to get Roy Oswalt before the Red Sox gets him.
