^ DLSU was also undermanned. Simon and Maui already graduated, Yutien was still recuperating from his injury, Sam and Arnold not suiting up. kapos kami ng limang tao.
What I would like to say is parang ganun pa rin DLSU.Same as the old (with Pumaren) system. Pero kasi same first game pa naman so magbabago pa yan. Tingin ko nga front lang nila yun.
Ok last na lang.I really watched the game.Even Mapua played with a very 9 (more of 8 players).Nimes is out and so is Mangahas (siya ata yung nakahood, may sakit).
DLSU had 10 players. So let's just say both teams are in the same position.
Organizers should have just stuck with the knockout format like the one used in the inaugural tournament in 2002. No seeds, no nonsense, just win or go home. It's that simple.
And just hold the tournament in one city. I'm sure there are many cities across the archipelago (especially in the Vis-Min region) that are willing to host this tournament.![]()
^Yun nga po.Mas tinatao ang mga provincials games kaysa sa Manila which is very sad.Or better do it on a weekend. I am ok with the four different venues (for the four Philippine Zones). Pero yun nga yung Finals venue irotate nila.
Nakakahiya naman ang mga organizers nito....garapalan na talaga...the format obviously ensures that one of the benefactor's teams wins the tournament....
Kahit ano pa format or kahit ano pang venue, hindi magwowork if teams don't treat this as THE tournament to win.
Mas maganda siguro kung puro champs lang. Walang wildcard. This way, champs play against champs. Walang saling-pusa.
Sure, upsets are exciting...but not in the Philippines. IIRC, JRU (then the 6th top team in the NCAA) defeated UST (UAAP champs).
good point if this is true. historically no ncaa team since 2000 has successfully overcame the twice to beat advantage. pero theoretically equal footing pa rin sila sa finals.
ganito na lang gawin dyan:
first, tunawin nila yung MVP trophy, tapos convert nila to cash, tapos ipamigay nila sa mahihirap sa proceeds
second, yung mga championship trophies (if any) are at stake per game. retain or change the current format, it doesn't matter, as long as in every game the trophy (if any) is at stake. that way, the winner gets to win all of the collegiate trophies for the year.
imagine if a team like JRU wins it all. they'd get SBC's AND ateneo's trophies.
pero in the end, ang excuse lang kung matalo ay either of the following:
di namin sineryoso
wala ang matinong player namin
win or lose its the school we choose
once a schoolmate always a schoolmate
etc etc etc![]()
The same scenario happened in 2009. Baste won the first round encounter and then SBC defeated them twice (including the playoff game) to secure the first seed. Baste went on to win the crown anyway. This is why their battlecry last Finals was Deja Vu.
If the rumor that the Semerad twins have already left SBC is true, then ADMU now has an almost clear path for a PCCL 3peat.
The organizers knew that the early part of the tournament would conflict with national duty at the sea games & conceivably, the teams that would loan players are that of the uaap & ncaa champs.the question remains - what did the UAAP & NCAA champs do to deserve automatic semifinal berths and a twice to beat advantage?
If the ncaa & uaap champs got knocked out early without the luxury of a complete roster, you can be assured that the PCCL crown would be meaningless.
This year's PCCL will be hit after that Semerad bros transfer to Ateneo. The rivalry now rekindled.
That's is the drama.
