Prometheus is sci-fi-horror-action (meron din kasing sci-fi comedy, sci-fi drama, etc), and basically marketed as something similar to Alien. It just turned out that the kind of sci-fi Prometheus is, it is more of an existential drama; yung horror and action niya ay minimal lang. Kaya pag fan ka ng super action, at ang hilig mo lang ay walang humpay na suspense and action, baka ma-disappoint ka kasi konte lang ang action dito. Nevertheless, it's an absorbing, beautiful sci-fi flick with spectacular visuals! Noomi Rapace is the new Sigourney Weaver!

Yeah, the best action-horror scene was the birth scene talaga. Like, WHOAAAAAHHHH!!!

Grabe yung IMAX experience nya noh?? The opening scene, the desolate Earth...oh, my, grabe.

but doesn't weyland have his own room? bakit hindi na lang doon ilagay ang pod? bakit pa sa kwarto ng "daughter" niya. paano na kung gagamitin nya yon, baka mahuli lang siya.

The Space Jockeys/Engineers have a sh1++y safety management don't they? In the original Alien film it is implied that they were also destroyed by the aliens/xenomorphs.

BTW, i really love this film. Sabi nga ni cybernaut, this film told its story visually, and it was done very well. It's good to see Ridley Scott back in the sci fi genre.

    I give it 6/10.

I thought the film just scratched the surface when it came to multiple facets:

    The origin of humanity.
Faith in the face of science.
Character development for at least the most important ones.
    Plot.

I left the cinema bothered by two things especially:
1.) Engineers seed life on Earth, then they appear to guide humans (as evident by the ancient artifacts), but then suddenly they want to destroy humans. WTF? Why the change of heart. Then at the end of the movie, the doc said that the Engineers changed their minds (but apparently sleeping beauty didn't get the memo.) Create humans, like humans, hate humans, like 'em again. I don't get it.

2.) It's already established that the xenomorphs have been around for at least thousands of years. Their presence on Earth (thanks to the Predators) predate the Engineers' disaster (2000 years ago). But the impression that I got from this movie was that the Engineer's biological weapons were in a state of development. So I've got some continuity confusion going on.

I was impressed with Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron's performances. The special effects were pretty awesome but I dare say that seeing this movie in 3-D is not necessary.

She wanted to know why they changed their mind on creating humans then destroying them. Perhaps because the humans can give the engineers a run for their money? Or maybe because the humans have expanded their reach more than the engineers originally thought?

Thing is, we can never answer those questions about origin of humanity, about religion etc. The movie recognizes that and made it its strength. It begs questions more than it provides answer and that's the beauty of philosophy.

this is a science fiction film where the scientists are kind of stupid and it's disappointing to see that a film with such potential gets bogged down by silly conventions and a rather lame heavy-handed script

one moment they were running away from the aliens, the next thing you know, a scientist wants to pet a cute alien cobra or anus cobra whatever that was

masyadong try hard magpakadeep ang movie na ito. maybe this would have worked better as a silent film having not to hear characters spout out some really banal dialogue. 2001: A Space Odyssey was a great film that didn't even have that much dialogue

such a shame because the movie looks soooooo BEAUTIFULLY shot. as a standalone film, it was pretty but ultimately disappointing considering what the franchise came up with the first two Alien films.

I just watched this film because I suddenly felt like I've developed a huge crush on Charlize after seeing SWATH. This movie is just as lame as Battleship, so predictable. Too much expectations dahil ang ganda ng trailer. Anyway, given naman talaga na ang mga films ngayon dapat outstanding ang visual effects, so for me it's also 6/10.

I appreciated the film. Though it definitely left us a lot of unanswered questions which I think is ok if there's a sequel to be made. I was pleasantly surprised at how it separated itself from the Alien-universe. I'm interested in seeing where this will go from here.

You're probably right as that would make more sense in a conventional sci-fi story way. I could have swore though, there was a bit a dialogue that switched the Engineers back to liking us again. I mean 2000 years is a long time to for the head Engineers to check up to see if Earth has been scratched off their To Kill list. That, of course, assumes that the incident that happened on that moon didn't spread to wipe out or nearly wipe out the species.

And another thing that I just thought of as I'm writing this: Why would the Engineers invite them to that planet if it was a weapons facility. To me that would be like the Americans saying, "if you want to meet us, come to Gitmo."

Curious ako dun sa usapan ni David at nung Engineer when they woke up the engineer. Do you guys think may sequel pa ito?

Sense of time is relative. Time is a human invention to measure instance from time=0 to time=now. Engineers may not even have a concept of time.

I think it's wrong to subject Engineers to human standards if they are supposed to be a superior, more advanced race. Perhaps they also have means to foresee the future such that seeing that maybe human can destroy not only the earth but the entire universe. Who knows? That's the question, the many different question that the movie poses.

And another thing that I just thought of as I'm writing this: Why would the Engineers invite them to that planet if it was a weapons facility. To me that would be like the Americans saying, "if you want to meet us, come to Gitmo."
I don't think it was an invitation. That's an interesting question. Why would the engineers live those mark? Perhaps the sequel can answer that.

Just watched it tonight. I swear, during the first scenes, I thought this guy had something to do with the screenplay...

Yeah. I noticed this too when the Scottish geologist wanted out ASAP at the first sign of trouble. What? A scientist wants out during his first few hours on an alien planet?
