Noynoy Aquino (P-Noy)
[Adm-05] President Benigno Simeon Aquino III personally assess the situation of the 31,000 displaced families of Barangays San Isidro and San Roque upon arrival at the La Paz Plazuela Evacuation Center in La Paz, Tarlac after the windshield inspection on the Rio Chico Bridge and non-serviceable health facilities affected by severe flooding spawned by twin typhoons Pedring and Quiel during the visits in the provinces of Tarlac, Pampanga and Bulacan Wednesday October 05, 2011.
MANILA, Philippines – The damage caused by Typhoon Pedring (international name Nesat) last month has surpassed that of tropical storm Ondoy in 2009, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Friday.
Pedring's damage on infrastructure and agriculture has reached P12.34 billion, higher than Ondoy’s P10.9 billion, NDRRMC data showed.

Death toll of the recent typhoons exceeds 100

-----------------
Ondoy claimed much more mortals because it dumped so much water on densely populated areas of the NCR.
The damages show that there was nothing done in the way of flood control.
UP! Now Pnoy, look what you've done!
Hay, and I just posted sa kabilang thread about the underground waterways of Japan and Kuala Lumpur's solution to floods.
tsk prejudice
and may gall pa ang RCC who supported Aquino to blame the RH Bill sa current calamity
bakit last year sa Nesat? Anong kinagagalit ng panginoon?
even if the said projects were not cancelled tingin mo nakatulong ang mga ito sa nangyyari ngayon??? Can you build the said projects properly in just what several months??? if the said projects are going to be initiated with numerous anomalies and culling of funds sa tingin natin hnggang saan lang ang itatagal ng mga ito????
isip isip muna peeps kesa bibig mauna...
what ef what ef pa siya diyan
between an action and a non-action, alin kaya ang mas mainam

esep esep roborat
we need those anti flood projects
if not now, WHEN mo gusto ipatupad yan?
Tingnan mo ang Japan in 1992 they experienced the same thing.
In 1990s napuno tayo ng mga typhoons that were also felt by Japan.
Anong ginawa ng japan? they started building their undergound stormwater reservoir
it didn't matter to them na MATAGAL ito natapos. at least TAPOS NA 2009. so ngayon japan has no problems with floods sa area na flood prone sa kanila.
if not now, WHEN?
well, magagandang speeches.
@Roborat9
Just a few questions:
1. Do we really not need those projects?
2. Are the anomalies already proven?
3. Is it not possible to implement the project/s while it is being investigated?
4. When does the current administration plans to re-initiate the canceled projects?
5. Is the cost of corruption (because of the said anomalies) greater than the property damage of an avoidable disaster?

Construction work for the $2bn G-Cans project started in 1992 and was completed in early 2009.

A "construction state"—or doken kokka—has effectively taken over the Japanese economy, according to Gavan McCormack in the New Left Review. The doken kokka, McCormack writes, "is opaque, unaccountable, and therefore hard to reform. Essentially, it enables the country’s powerful bureaucrats to channel the population’s life savings into a wide range of debt-encrusted public bodies—those in charge of highways, bridge-building, dams and development initiatives," and that means "promising new public-works projects," thus "concreting the archipelago."

eto ang economic status ng Japan in 1992
After a mild economic slump in the mid-1980s, Japan's economy began a period of expansion in 1986 that continued until it again entered a recessionary period in 1992. Economic growth averaging 5% between 1987 and 1989 revived industries, such as steel and construction, which had been relatively dormant in the mid-1980s, and brought record salaries and employment. In 1992, however, Japan's real GNP growth slowed to 1.7%.

GDP in 1992 = 23,500 euros or $29,232.4916
So how do you think Japan was able to start a $ 2 billion project?
Umutang sila using the taxes they'll collect from the people in the future as COLLATERAL.
How? Selling government bonds is one way, bank loans is another, inviting a company to invest such as the Japan Institute of Wastewater Engineering Technology.
i don't quite understand the issue here... of the 139 projects, only 19 were cancelled due to irregularities. and it seems they bidded it out again afterwards based on the philstar article. am i not understanding this clearly?
NEXT YEAR?! next 10 years?!
