The Voice UK on BBC One

The Voice UK is a vocal contest series featuring people with real talent and great voices. Only the very best singers make it through to the televised auditions and get the chance to perform in front of four celebrity coaches. Praised by viewers and critics alike, it’s become one of the most successful new television shows around the world.

    The Coaches

The artists will be selected, mentored, and trained by four of the best and most successful singers in the music industry. The coaches only want to work with the most talented artists.

    The Blind Auditions

The show's format features three stages of contest: the "Blind Auditions, the "Battles ", and finally, the "Live Shows".

During The Blind Auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on the voices they hear - and nothing else. The coaches hear the artists perform but don't get to see them, and if a coach is impressed by an artist's voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist and their chair rotates so they can see them. If more than one coach turns his/her chair, the power shifts to the artist, who may then choose which coach they most want to work with throughout the contest.

    The Battles

Once the coaches have chosen their teams, the "Battle" is on. Coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their artists, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success in the music industry. During the "Battles” the coaches will pit two of their own acts against each other to sing a duet in front of a studio audience. Immediately after the vocal face-off, the coach must choose which artist will advance in the contest.

    The Live Shows

At the end of the "Battles", only the strongest members of each coach's team remain and proceed to the "Live Shows". In this final phase of the contest, the top artists from each team will compete against each other during live broadcasts. The television audience will vote to save one artist on each team, leaving the coach to decide who to save and who goes home. Each coach will have his/her best artist left to compete in the final. From the final four remaining artists, one will be named "The Voice" - and will win the prize of a lifetime, a recording contract with Universal Music.

    **********

    * Open auditions, the first step towards Blind Auditions, are being prepared. It begins October 31 in London.

I do hope she becomes a coach.

Cee Lo Green was also supposed to be a coach, but he pulled out because the schedule would clash with his commitment to the American version.

Lenny Kravitz is also rumored being swayed into becoming a coach.

Since this is a UK version, they should get at least one mentor from a boyband

^^ Well, Ronan Keating is already a judge on X Factor Australia.

I heard that Cheryl Cole might be a mentor.

Yung isang member ng Blue judge naman sa "Don't Stop Believing"

Jessie J has revealed that she will be a coach on new BBC programme The Voice.

The singer is one of four stars who will mentor contestants on the UK version of the show.

The series, which has already been a hit in the US, will launch in the spring on BBC One.

Jessie J told Newsbeat: "It's all about the voice. I love the idea of being a coach and a mentor and not a judge. I wanted to be involved. They approached me and I was well up for it."

The singer announced the news on the Chris Moyles Show on Radio 1.

    'Find their voice'

In the show, contestants will get through on the strength of their voices rather than how they look, with "blind" auditions.

The singer said that was what attracted her to the show.

"One of the reasons that I love it is because it is a coach," she said.

"It's not telling someone whether they're good or not.

"It's helping them find their voice and who they are and making it something that they could give to the world."

Jessie J insists she has the credentials to take part in the show, despite releasing her debut album earlier this year.

"For me, there's that feeling of, 'Have I done enough to coach someone?' But I've learned a lot.

"I'm 23 and I meet a lot of young people, singers and songwriters that want to blossom and they ask for my advice and my opinion because I've experienced it.

"By the time the programme starts it's going to be another six months time and there'll be a lot more that has happened."

    'Strong personality'

Jessie J won the critics' choice award at the Brits earlier this year and topped the BBC's Sound of 2011.

She had a number one single with Price Tag with her debut track Do It Like A Dude making it to number two.

The US version of The Voice, meanwhile, has featured Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and Cee Lo Green as coaches.

The BBC said: "There's no room for comedy performances or people who rely on looks to get them through.

"This is the first talent show that focuses on what really matters when you're a singer. It's all about the voice."

BBC One controller Danny Cohen said: "Jessie J is going to be an amazing coach on The Voice UK.

"She's a massive young star with a strong personality and her recent Mobo nominations are testament to her musical and creative ability."
