On San Sebastian Cheers

I think the TS should rephrase his/her question to does SSC-R plans to REVERT to the old "Go Baste" cheer. I'm a HS alumni of SSC-R and I attended NCAA games during the late 90's and the "Go Baste" cheer was not really like that of UST's. Nung past decade lang yata nagbago yun eh. Ako rin ayoko ng cheer ngayon nila na parang Go USTE lang. Kasalanan din yun ng new breed of Sebastinians.

natuwa lang ako sa assertion ng mga taga-SSC na nanggaling din sa TMNT ang "go baste" cheer to the tune of "go uste go go go go" cheer, which was seconded by bedans and apparently letranites too. either they were cheering the "go baste" to the tune of TMNT as early as the early 1990s. without a doubt the generic "go baste" cheer kahit sino naman pwedeng gumamit nyan.

Why do Sebastinians bother to argue their rights over the "Go baste! Go go go baste!" cheer? Since when did they give a damn about originalities and cheering traditions?

How about some of cheers and slogans shamelessly copied by the Bastenians:

1. Bravo Baste, Beat San Beda! or Beat San Beda, Bravo Baste!

This is a San Beda staple cheer which is really a line from SBC's Stand in the Grand Stand Cheer which goes:

STAND ON THE GRANDSTAND

Stand on the grandstand
Beat on the tin can
Who can, we can, nobody else can

Animo San Beda! Beat ______!

Animo San Beda! Beat ______!

Animo San Beda! Beat_______!

Fight Team Fight!


Bedans traditionally shout "Animo San Beda! Beat __________" during and after each game, usually directed against the next opponent of SBC.

Letran is another perennial imitator of this cheer, shouting "Arriba Letran! Beat San Beda".

I hope riou educates his brothers about this.

kasi kung rhythmic yung beat gagawin lang siyang guide ng player, which defeats the purpose of distracting him.

we are always preventing students to instigate the arriba letran beat "___" cheer. as you can see the letran band and LCS last oct7 didn't follow the students when they carelessly start to used this cheer. But as i mentioned before in the past thread about this issue, letran has it's own version of this cheer that we studied, researched and interviewed some alumni and older LCS members that they used this cheer during their time. Although same lines but with a much sl0wer drum and cheer execution. By next season we will try to execute this cheer.

We are not allowing baste to use our cheers freely, if conflict arises in this matter, all issue with cheers and beats are beeing discuss peacefully in the NCAA Band United.

One of your fellow Letranite in your forum said it's ok to copy cheers. Mga "insecure" lang daw yung ginagawang big deal yang copying of cheers. ;-) It seems he doesn't agree with your advocacy and looks at it as a form of insecurity hahahaha.

Actualy pre somehow our fellow letranite ko is correct. Noon naman kasi kahit manggaya ng cheer ang ibang school ay wala kaming pakialam dahil alam namin sa sarili namin kung kanino nanggaling yun. But nang lumipas ang mga panahon at lantaran nang pinagagamit na nila mga cheers at yung iba sinasabi pa nila na sakanila yun, doon na kami nagsimula maging mahigpit sa ganyang usapin. Katulad niyo sa san beda, mga alumni ang kumilos nung bigla kayo paratangang nangagaya kayo ng cheers pati sa kabilang liga. Same goes with us, pano kami paparatangan eh buhay pa mismo yung ibang gumawa nung mga cheers namin with complete brass companiment at historical background to support it.

That's why you have to be vigilant and claim them as your own as early as now.

I was watching the csjl-sscr game earlier, la lang scout scoutan lang, hehehe. I was really annoyed by that wala jeer ng baste...weird lang talaga kasi i was hearing the same wala jeer from both schools. Sana magisip ng ibang freethrow jeer yung baste...parang ako yung nahiya para sa baste eh, hehehe.
