hmmm comment lang on you day 1,
if you're going to leave ocean park by 6, di mo na mapapanood yung symbio (water and lights show) - mga 7 or 730pm ata yun eh.

may discount din ang Octopus card for Seniors. We availed one for my mom. mas mababa lang ata yung deposit nya, at iba ang drawing sa card.

You need as much time for the theme parks as possible. We do not suggest doing theme parks on the same day as your flight.

With this itinerary below you also don't need to bring all your luggage to Tung Chung. Minus 1 hassle.

    Day 1:
    Check-in
    Ngong Ping
    Citygate
    Peak
    Shopping

    Day 2:
    Disneyland
    LKF

    Day 3:
    Ocean Park
Tram ride on HK island or Sky 100 (Optional)
    Avenue of Stars

    Day 4:
    Nanlian Garden
    Shopping

Plus, you pay so much for theme parks so might as well spend the entire day there and really experience it.

Edited what I posted earlier which commoner used and turned it into a blog post: to bring or not to bring strollers to hong kong

Nakaka-excite yung new thread and all the other new/cheap accommodations/discoveries/finds... kaso we sorta made a promise na at least 6 years old na si bunso when we return, haha

    we'll see!

commoner... hats off sa dugo't laman invested in the thread... ang hindi magbasa talaga ng first 2 pages, ewan!

    Page 2 Pahabol Pointers

    1. You can find good deals and bargains for Hong Kong here: http://www.groupon.hk/deals/hong-kong

    2. Hostel Locations - Most hostels are either located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Mongkok or Causeway Bay. Hostels need to be located strategically for tourists to find them and for tourists to choose them. This means all hostels listed on Page 1 (except for a few) are located in places that are easy to access and have many commercial establishments around them. Some are located in more distant districts but are still OK because they are connected by either the Tsuen Wan subway line or the Island subway line; 2 of the most used lines of the HK MTR.

    3. Louis Vuitton and other signature brands are generally cheaper in Hong Kong. For store locations of each brand, please visit their website. Tsim Sha Tsui has a high concentration of signature brands.

    4. Where can I use the Octopus Card?

Aside from the MTR, all buses, ferries and trams, you can also use the Octopus to pay for the Peak Tram and the Airport Express.

commoner para dun sa mga nagmamadaling makapunta sa airport they could take the Airport Express using their regular / ordinary octopus card Hkd 60 lang as long as ma maintain nila yung trasfer sa mga trains ng less than 1 hour, Ex. MTR TST to Lai King to Tsing Yi ay free of charge then transfer sila ng Aiport Express at the end they will only be charge Hkd 60
You can also use the Octopus Card at various commercial establishments like 7-Eleven, Circle K, Wellcome, bakeries, fastfood chains, Watson's, Mannings, etc. So don't worry about having to empty the load before heading to the airport.

    5. WINTER SEASON

Since it's only a few months before Hong Kong's winter season kicks in, here are some things you should know... It is coldest in HK during January to February although December is also pretty cold. If you have low tolerance to cold, better bring thick jackets. Gloves might or might not be necessary. Check weather forecasts so you will know what kind of clothing to bring. Generally speaking temperatures between 10-15 degrees is considered very cold for most Pinoys.

Hong Kong tends to get foggy during winter. This means you won't see anything from The Peak or from the new Sky 100 during days that are very foggy. Most of the time you will see the level of fog even from ground level. For Sky 100 they have a live camera feed so you can decide whether to push through or not.

    6. PEAK SEASONS

Hong Kong is not only for shopping and sightseeing. It is a bustling capital of finance and commerce. There are a LOT of exhibitions and trade fairs which will affect the room rates of both hotels and hostels. For those who are on a very very limited budget, make sure you take this into consideration when planning for a trip to HK. The Hong Kong Rugby Sevens is also another event to watch out for, it happens during March. Exhibits to watch out for: Jewellery, Food, Book, Flower. You can go to Discoverhongkong.com for more info. Remember, it's not only the holidays that will affect your trip.

      Chinese Festivals: http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/...festivals.html

    7. Shopping for/with kids.

Ocean Terminal in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui has many shops that sell clothes for children as well as a Toys R Us to boot.

    8. Mongkok Ladies Market Warning

Hong Kong people are not rude; generally-speaking. A fair word of precaution for those planning to shop at Ladies Market and Temple Street Night market, the vendors here are very aggressive. Their way of thinking is not the same as Filipinos. When you bargain, they expect you to buy. So if you don't want to encounter any untoward incident, don't bargain very hard if you're not really interested. Walk around these markets first before asking the price. Grabbing of customers is normal in these places, they WILL grab you arms or pull you back. This is just how they do business.

    9. Halloween and Christmas in Disneyland

These 2 theme parks usually have special themes during the holidays with mascots donning a different outfit depending on the holiday they are celebrating. For detailed information on the special events, please visit their respective websites. No they usually do not have any sort of price increase during these seasons.

    10. Half-Days Only at Disneyland and Ocean Park

As much as we want people to spend a whole day at these theme parks (from opening 'til closing), there are still a lot of people who don't. Some turned out OK, some ended up "bitin" or "hindi sulit". You don't spend half a day in Ocean Park and Disneyland just like you won't spend half a day in Enchanted Kingdom where the entrance fee is just a fraction of those in HK.

    11. NO NEED TO BOOK MACAU FERRY TICKETS ONLINE

A ferry to Macau leaves every 30minutes. Unless it is a major holiday (which you shouldn't be going to Macau) you don't have to book tickets online ahead of time. It is advisable however to buy roundtrip tickets just to make sure you have a slot going back to HK.

    12. NO NEED TO BOOK CTS TICKETS ONLINE

Just buy in the airport UNLESS you want to pay with credit card in which case you should book online.

    13. WHERE TO GO IF IT IS RAINING / TYPHOONS

Unfortunately you have to settle with malls or museums if it's raining hard in HK.

    14. SUMMARY ON BUYING DIGITAL CAMERA / PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT

You have 2 options. Either you buy in retailers or you buy in chain stores. Retailers are similar to Manila's Hidalgo shops while chain stores are similar to Manila's Abenson, Ambassador, Automatic Centre, etc. The retailers listed on Page 1 will most probably sell goods that are cheaper in Hidalgo. The chain stores on the other hand will sell goods at approximately the same price but will come with a lot of freebies making it practically the same price as the retailer.

Like what I wrote on Page 1, there will always be risks of buying abroad. #1 of which is the warranty since I know Canon and Nikon do not have global warranties.

Generally speaking YES IT IS CHEAPER IN HK. If you are willing to save a few bucks and are willing to take the risk, you know where in HK to buy/canvass.

    15. OPENLINE CELLPHONES

Yes they sell Open-Line phones in Hong Kong. Generally-speaking high-end smartphones including the Samsung and Iphones are cheaper in Hong Kong. For this one you have a risk of buying a fake so be extra careful. Lots of cellphone shops in Sai Yeung Choi in Mongkok.
