I've read somewhere that Bong Tan is trying to build his own business empire outside his father's dynasty.

Agreed. Although I would include FEU in your list. In the last decade, Ateneo, DLSU, and FEU each won 3 championships.

In the last 3 concluded seasons, 4 different teams figured in the Finals. 5 in the last 5. NU, UP & Adamson are the only teams who haven't tasted the basketball finals atmosphere for the same period.

And quite possibly, with the expected weakening of Ateneo, Adamson, and most especially FEU due to personnel losses, then the strengthening of UST and NU, we may actually see a very crowded, exciting race in Season 75 and a banner year for ticket sales.

Wait ang UP may Robina Gokongwei, at mga kurap na government officials na graduate ng UP hahaha.

Nagdodonate ba si Consunji sa peyups MBT?

  9. #29
LOL!

    Yes. ESA ang sinasabi ko.

Hindi kasi pwede sa Pex ang simple yes or no answer.

It doesn't say in the UE website. Could it be that your source is incorrect and the website isn't?

Oh please, what do you think convinced Norman Black, a foreigner (though now a Filipino by heart) to coach a collegiate team when he was earning comfortably as a pro coach?

Oh please, at the time Coach Norman was hired by Ateneo, he was not coaching any team at any capacity in the PBA.

with Gee Abanilla now assuming the post in DLSU, the showdown between Danding Cojuangco and Manny Pangilinan extending towards the UAAP has become a reality.

  16. #36
I think Danding Conjuangco might be enough for La Salle. He's a billionaire who has political connections, two in one.

  17. #37
Natawa ako sa nagsasabing Danding will be financially backing DLSU basketball program. Just because he was seen watching a couple of games of the Green Archers.

ECJ's management style is that of a haciendero. That said, one of the things he values most is loyalty. And among those who have remained loyal to him are the Pumarens. After all, it was ECJ who brought them to Taft. So if you think that the manner in which the Pumarens were taken out the equation insofar as DLSU basketball is concerned sat well with the Boss, then you must be smokin something special.

A few weeks ago a contingent in green and white went a visiting to the headquarters of a conglomerate based in the OBD. Suffice to say that may nakuha naman but lets just say that the commitment they got was way below what they were expecting to get. Perhaps, thats why the delay in the announcement of Gee as head coach?....hmmm

Danding is like the Man City, Arsenal, Russian team owners who had aged and is looking for a new recreation. So the trend in English Premiere League and in the NBA is to own a team. Walang motivation to cheer the team. That's why the German Bundesliga, NBA is exciting. And the fans are involved.

    Ateneo: Manny Pangilinan
    FEU: The Reyes-Montinola clan
La Salle: Danding Cojuangco and Ricky Razon
NU: The Sy family of SM
    UE: Lucio Tan and family
UST - Jose Aliling & Aytona
    UP - Perry Pe & Robina Gokongwei-Pe
    Adamson - Lucio (Puregold) Co

    FAIL!

if i recall correctly, Norman Black was not coaching any PBA team at that time(2004-2005) and was working as a full time PBA commentator/analyst for ABC5 .. (and knowing ABC5 nung mga panahon na yun, sigurado hindi mataas ang pasahod dun to say that he was "earning comfortably")

it was during this period that Norman Black first joined Ateneo's coaching staff as team consultant and was elevated to head coach for the UAAP's 2005 season.
