It was just surprising that when I came here, most of my relatives and friends mentioned that: ingat ka sa ibang Pinoy, iyong iba chismoso and mainggitin. I've never experienced this though, but it made me quite picky in choosing who to hang out with.
You are correct in an earlier post: nata-typecast nga ang Pinoys as blue collar workers. I heard it's even worse in Quebec or Vancouver, at least sa Toronto minimal ang discrimination because majority are immigrants.

So nice of you to help those who are thinking to migrate. I should have met you before I jumped in!

But hey tama ka and doing anything as big as migrating has to be thoroughly evaluated for its pros and cons . Think not once twice but a million times!! Still if you have made your decision, put your mind to it and look forward without any unnecessary look backs which might cause distraction.

For some who sold their properties, my guess is they will need the funds to adapt to their new chosen countries and may or may not be a good strategy depending on what they're thinking.

At any rate, readers or would be migrants should take note of these posts before jumping in.

You all have a good one. Have to work now..

Heck, this entire thread is created by an advertiser! This entire thread is an advertisement. People will say anything para pagkakitaan ang mga pinoy.

So, our posts are just words of caution and reminders, and then people can decide. Balance of information is always good.

We all know that life in the phils is difficult. Going overseas is still a very attractive and rewarding option. I myself live overseas. But you know when someone tell me "uy, dalahin mo naman ako dyan, tulungan mo naman ako". I will help them! But not before telling them the hard facts, the reality, para pag dating nila dito walang sisihan.

Puro lang maganda ang sinasabi ng media and people who live overases. Some say they "made it" by mere fact na nakarating sila duon, but look around you. Go to Toronto for example, my god nagkalat ang pinoy sa fastfood restaurants, at pag kinausap mo sila, ang iba sa kanila is professionals in the phils and highly educated. Ito ang nakakalungkot na sitwasyon.

So I guess my post is about balance of information. Its always good that pinoys are always reminded of the reality.

And also, itong rags to riches is true in the phils too. Marami akong kilalang yumaman out of their own pawis in the Phils than overseas. In fact, yong mga yumaman sa overseas is only mayaman in comparion to the standard of living in the Phils, but not in comparison to the locals of the country of where they are staying.

I do not think this is negative energy. This is an honest and open discussion. In a way this is public service for telling people the truth, hindi false advertisement.
i agree with you. SOME FILIPINOS (ayan ha, capitalized to avoid misunderstanding) are very proud na nakarating sila in Canada or in some other parts of the world, and yung mga friends nila dito are either hangang-hanga or naiinggit na but hey, di natin alam kung ano ba talaga ang condition nila abroad. pwede nila sabihin or palabasin na they are living comfortably and malaki ang sweldo, syempre yun ang sasabihin nila para di mapahiya diba? only the humble ones (like some of the pexers here) are brave and honest enough to tell us what's REALLY going on with their lives there. These experiences by some of our humble pexers tell us what its is really like living in Canada. You may be a professional here, but don't expect na professional job din ang makukuha mo dun, unless na lang kung mag-aral ka ulit and/or have a Canadian experience.

Advise lang sa ibang mga pinoy. Huwag kayo sobrang humanga o mainggit man dun sa mga friends or kakilala nyo na nasa Canada, especially kung ibabalita nila na nakabili sila ng house and car. Madali lang makabili dun (through mortgage).

"Don't keep up with the Joneses coz they are deeply in debt."

Happy new year to all. Sana ay nasa mabuti kayong kalagayn saan man kayo naroroon.

Canada is clean, safe, not overpopulated, there's discipline, mutual respect, people are friendly, 4 seasons climate, fresh air, it's multicultural so less discrimination, food is the best -- makes Makati fine dining taste like fast food, shopping is OK, availability of Philippine people/goods/food. What's not to like? This is just from the tourist perspective.

Old Quebec is a great place to relax. If you're here it seems the world is such a peaceful place where wars and ethnic cleansing are only myth.

my family just moved to calgary from los angeles. so far life for us became so much better here. nakabuti din yung mga negative na nabasa ko tungkol sa canada gaya ng mahirap mag-hanap ng work. matinding dasal tuloy kami ng pamilya ko tsaka prepared kami ng hubby ko na tumanggap ng survival jobs. luckily, i got a job offer (my field) on my 5th day in calgary. hubby got a job right away too. Di stressful ang work dito compared sa US.

and tama madali bumili ng mga properties and cars mahirap mag bayad, pero iba talaga buhay sa develop country pretty much you can affored everything as long as my stable job i am talking about any kind of job basta fulltime yung ang pag kakaiba.

I would say, have your papers ready (legal ha, hehe). Then apply for work

Although sobrang mura nung Boxing Day.
