Women's boxing update:
it seems the Philippines will be sending only two boxers in the coming World Boxing Championship in Qinhuangdao, China that will start on Sunday. Unfortunately, only one of them will be aiming for an Olympic slot. Nesthy Petecio beat veteran Alice Kate Aparri in a box-out for flyweight slot and will be the Philippine representative for that Olympic weight. All she has to do is to reach the quarterfinals and a ticket to London this July will be hers. Nevertheless, Aparri will join Petecio in the world championship and will be fighting in the bantamweight (54 kgs) which is unfortunately, not an Olympic category.
good luck to our lady boxers.![]()
