Let's keep track on who will represent our country in the coming 2012 London Olympics.

Our Taekwondo jins were not as lucky in securing Olympics slots last June during the World championship in Baku, Azerbaijan. Their final chance to enter the Olympics will be this coming November 4-6, 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand.

I can't make any prediction until I see the official RP final list of qualified athletes as every athlete will undergo qualification process in order for him/her to become an Olympic athlete.

and btw, welcome to PEx community, Matteo. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

    Carrying the Weight

I believe Hidyln Diaz has already qualified for next year's London Olympics. Just need to double check though. Hopefully, she could be joined by rising star Nestor Colonia.

Kaka-miss tuloy sila Roberto "Kitoy" Cruz and Tshomlee Go. These two were world-class taekwondo athletes and potential Olympic medalists in their prime.

As I observed we are not focus anymore on Track and Field events

No weightlifter has been qualified to the London Olympics as of this time. The first qualifying tournament will be the World Weightlifting Championship that will be held in Paris, France on November 3-13.

as in the past Olympics, there will be a qualifying standard set by IAAF for each event in athletics. An athlete must surpass or equal the qualifying standard (time or measurement) during an IAAF-sanctioned competition such as Asian Games in order to qualify in the Olympics. So even though our athlete will not qualify in the final event as long as he/she surpassed the qualifying standard, he/she will still qualify in the Olympics.

Oo nga e. But basing on the results of World Taekwondo Championship, we still have high hopes on Japoy Lizardo (men 56-kg), and his younger sister Jyra (women 49-kg) who both reached the round-of-16. Other hopefuls are Marlon Avenido (men 80-kg), and Jade Zafra (women 57-kg).

ayoko yong "Sa Boxing ang Pag-asa" campaign.

para lang syang getting a Goldfor the sake of getting a Gold. alam naman nating amateur boxing lang ang Olympics and hindi talaga sya about the best boxers in the field.

parang Football lang, parang hindi prestigious ang Olympic Gold sa football.

I really hope meron tayong participants for tennis. Si Treat Huey nasa world's top 100 na sa doubles - ranked 59th after reaching the US Open 3rd rnd in doubles.

Kaya lang sya lang ang may ranking na Pinoy

I agree with your obsevation here.

Football fanatic countries use football in Olympics as experience showcase their grassroots program in preparation for the World Cup which is most prestigious than the Olympics
