Norris and Van Damme Confirmed For Expendables 2

Sylvester Stallone confirms to EW that the long-rumored casting of Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme is also true. What's more, the Face/Off pair of Nicolas Cage and John Travolta may be getting into the action as well.

“We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme," Stallone told the outlet, "which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one."

Co-written and directed by Stallone, the original Expendables also starred Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas, Giselle Itie, Charisma Carpenter, Gary Daniels, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke. For the second go-round, Simon West will be handling directing duties.

With production beginning next month in Bulgaria, Stallone is still finalizing plans about who will appear, though he hints that Cage is close to a lock and Travolta is bit more uncertain.

“It’s possible," he said of the unconfirmed casting, "The one thing I’ve learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling. It’s not financial. It’s just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. It’s a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter.”

Liam Hemsworth has joined the cast of the action flick, Hemsworth will be playing a sniper in the film. Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris are confirmed to be appearing in the film, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis set to reprise their roles from the first outing. Sylvester Stallone toplines, with Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and Terry Crews all set to return as well.

Jason Statham recently told Steve that filming begins at the end of this month in Bulgaria.

Today we’ve got a set photo featuring notorious roundhouse-kicker Chuck Norris, as well as Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren. That leaves John Travolta and Donnie Yen as currently unconfirmed rumored additions. Mickey Rourke won’t be returning for the sequel.

The film also stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Jean Claude Van Damme. The Expendables 2 opens August 17th, 2012.

Over-rated film. I thought it's really okay to have an ensemble and "real men" casts but it was such a dismay after I've watched it.

Parang kulang na lang ipangalandakan ni Sylvester Stallone na ako ang producer at director nito so ako at ako lamang ang bida.

Such a letdown for me really so I might pass on the 2nd installment, to dodged yet another Sylvester Stallone "I Am the Hero" in here

Speaking of wrestlers, I just hope that they can put (Dave) Batista in the mix...given that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin pulled in a sizable chunk of the audience back in the first one (just for the vicarious thrill of "Stone Cold" "stunning" Rocky/Rambo on the big screen)
