Legacy showed promise with its fast-paced development in the early weeks. But for some odd reason, the story fell flat and crawled back into the standard sappy soap stories.

I would have loved to see Natasha be the strong corporate maverick going headstrong against the Salcedos, and even against her own sisters. Screw being an adopted child, she was trained all her life to take over the company backed by sound education at that! Seems that the character was too flawed as she got too caught up with her personal issues, and instead of showing what could have been Natasha's strengths as a modern woman, she ended up a whiny wimpy damsel in distress. It's even ridiculous to see her being pushed over by Bernadette, who's only fighting chance at this point is having Alcantara blood in her and nothing more. Lovi gave it her best, but I'm sure she could have done something more.

Much could have been done with Cherie Gil's character as well in the corporate scene. After all, she is also an heiress to her father's banking fortune, so I was expecting her to be more cunning than a bored rich housewife. Such a waste of acting prowess.

Diana's character progressed awkwardly as well. She showed promise earlier on, then got caught up with this whole love angle and the character went bust. I was hoping that working for the Salcedos will make her a better corporate woman, but if you'd notice, all she did was create reports and presentations. Bernadette even outshone her in getting sponsorship for that beach event! SGC did not really prosper with her being around and she had no major breakthroughs to be proud of. Sad, really.

Bernadette was fun to watch, however, the development was lacking as well. She could have done an Eliza Doolittle, from the bakya illegitimate daughter to a strong PR head. That way, it won't look awkward when she starts playing bully to Natasha. In the end, it was kinda annoying to have all this wrong english, when in a way, she is expected to improve especially since she started branding herself as an Alcantara.

Personally, I think Maritoni Fernandez and Isabel Lopez should have switched roles. They end up looking uncomfy in their characters and tend to overcompensate to cover it all up.

Sid Lucero could have lost a few pounds and maybe grow some facial hair in order to look more mature and less like his character in his earlier soap, Amaya. Again, another good actor gone to waste. It's just ridiculous to watch someone who should be the Alcantara's biggest corporate foe going bonkers over a girl. Makes him look like a pathetic lovestruck teenager.

No idea how to save the character Josh; he's one of those characters who can leave the show unnoticed.

I guess the only saving grace of this soap was Eddie Garcia, magnificent as ever. He's every inch a cunning businessman, but still comes through as a caring grandfather.

Maybe next time the writers can come up with something a bit more up-to-date plots and less 90's drama.

Much as I love this show, I have a lot of 'tampo' but Im not going to rehash it since it a lot of posters have expressed it by their conspicuous absence maybe, and I think that drive home the point.

I love the surprise chemistry of Sid and Heart, and I will not be surprised if this team up will never be seen on tv ever again. Despite non support from their individual fans-they have created memorable scenes that few good actors can churn out .Because of the elephant in the room, Sid's fans are more MR fans and Heart's fans do not tolerate bashing because of her apparent closeness with Sid) -- this magical team up will probably not be given another chance again.


Non fantard fans like me, never have any clout specially with a network like GMA, if you guys know what I mean.

I love the story, the attempt to present a corporate drama in this time and age was courageous but it was marred by lopsided treatment of the character development of the three leads. Too much acting highlight for Lovi and almost none (but crying for a lost love) for Heart. Heart was almost like a wallflower, in most scenes. Without Inigo, she will never have anything important to do but cry for Josh. Lovi was given, the 'star making' role, they have given her multi character story arcs, multidimensional characterizations and lots of confrontation with the main villain. Its a perfect formula to make anyone a star.

And da Rossi is da Rossi, thank God for her comedic timing and comic lines, that was her 'peg' or she would have been paired with Josh or Third too, ugh.

Where are the two leading men, Third and Josh? How are their story arcs going to end? How about Natasha's real family, are they abandoned too? All of them are tied to Natasha, and since she has been juggling these characters for most of the show's run-- they have no time to tie the loose ends.

On to their next shows? Since quantity is better than (quality of roles)-- GMA's motto, they are expected to spawn shows after shows after Legacy.

Legacy will probably the most memorable for the stars in a long while. I'll pass on bata seryes, and other shows with kids in it. Spare me. Tired of GMA for getting my hopes up, only to be crushed over and over and over... ad nauseam, ad infinitum.

Yung taping naman ng Legacy eh hindi nag-overlap sa taping ng Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka (new soap ni Geoff). Pagkatapos ng taping ng Legacy, tsaka lang nag-1st taping day ang KBIK. Pero kailagan din namang mag-lie low si Josh sa kuwento kasi magfo-focus na do'n sa power struggle ng Alcantara sisters sa Legacy at sa pagbunyag ng sikreto ni Natasha.

Na-iba talaga ang kuwento. Kaya yung pagiging couple nina Diana't Inigo, in-expect ko ng mangyayari 'yon sa dulo pa. Kasi yung creative team eh para silang nagda-drive in high speed. Tapos sa kalagitnaan eh sasabihan mo na mag-turn. Para magawa nila 'yon, kailangan muna nilang mag-slow down at bumuwelo. So hindi agad mangyayari yung maging sila Diana't Inigo na.

Kulang na kulang sila sa leading men kaya 'di rin masisi kung ba't laging may projects yung mga lalakeng talents nila. Kaya yung Legacy boys eh may kasunod na kaagad na shows. Ang maganda lang eh mukha namang okay yung mga next shows nila. Interesting at mature yung mga kuwento. Sa Afternoon Prime kasi kung saan mas nag-e-experiment ang GMA kaysa sa Telebabad shows. Mike will be in Faithfully (tungkol sa widow na nadiskubreng nagkaro'n ng affair yung asawa niya at pinaghihinalaang yung mga kaibigan niya ang (mga) naging kerida). Sana lang bumilis ng mag-internalize ng role si Mike para sa umpisa pa lang eh kumportable na siya. Yung serye ni Geoff eh tungkol naman sa mag-amang magkaribal. Sid will be in Hindi Ka Na Nag-iisa. It's about someone (Jennylyn) taking care of her younger sister who's a special child.

With the Legacy girls, I think they'll rest for a while. Ito ang movie-making time ni Lovi, she'll be doing 2 under Regal. Si Heart, matagal pa nating makikita sa Luna Blanca - siguro after 3-4 months pa. Wala pa namang nasasabing next project for Alessandra.

Yung mga viewers, minsan nakakatawa rin eh. Gusto nila may follow-up show kaagad yung gusto nilang artista after a project. Parang ayaw nilang magpahinga yung tao. Kapag nabigyan na ng next project, bigla ka naman makakarinig ng "nakakasawa/nakaka-umay naman 'yan." Kaloka, hindi mo alam kung ano ba talaga ang gusto nila.

I might be wasting my time, since the network may not be bent on supporting this team up. Even the fans of Sid and Heart (not the Diana Inigo fans) are lukewarm if not totally opposed to the idea. (I am a twitter dweller, and I only hear this info on twitter.. but who knows. I am just just a fan, waiting for the big bosses to like who I like. I am at their mercy.)

Sometimes, local tv comes up with an onscreen team up that inspires you, makes you giddy and makes you root for them. This is them for me.
If this is their first and last, at least I was there to cheer on them, get tickled pink, cry and fall in love with them, even for a short, borrowed time.

Wait a min. is Legacy already finish? I live outside of the Philippines so I'd like to know. I'm really upset,this show had A LOT of potential but the writers just had to screw it didn't they? Someday I'd like to go to GMA & just smack them in the head, because I thought that they were doing better but obviously they're still crap. Please GMA improve the QUALITY of your shows. LEGACY - Underrated, Underappreciated



In the beginning of this year GMA 7 formally announced three new shows that will be aired on their Telebabad primetime block. The first is Biritera a telenovela about a missing child(again) that can sing. The second is My Beloved a fantaserye(again) and the third is LEGACY a drama set on the corporate scene, something that is rarely done on a local productions for fear of being panned by the viewers.

I must admit that the first time I watch this series I was skeptical if this is something that could hold the attention of the viewers. To my surprise it did not just hold their attention, it also made a lot of fanatics of people who normally would not watch a Pinoy telenovela.

In LEGACY the viewers were taken the world of the rich and the powerful. LEGACY is actually not the first series to showcase affluence. There have been many series that dealt with it in the past years. The main difference with LEGACY is that you can actually believe that the characters in this series are really, really rich people. From the what they are wearing , to their dazzling houses and offices, up to the cars and the latest tech gadgets they are sporting, LEGACY nailed the lifestyle of the rich , something that its predecessors were not so successful.

The main actors chosen to play the important roles are also very engaging to watch. The three Alcantara sisters played by Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe and Alessandra de Rossi is a perfect fit for their parts, while the leading man in Sid Lucero, Geoff Eigenmann and even Mike Tan was also exceptional in their portrayals.

LEGACY did not come out very strong in its first weeks. However as the buzz about this trendsetting series started to circulate around local showbiz, it then started to attract new viewers. Among this viewers are those that does not even like to watch a local telenovela. Even regular viewers of the rival network of GMA posted on forums that this is the only series that they like to watch on the Kapuso Network. After a few weeks LEGACY was finally dominating its timeslot. It then seems like it would be smooth sailing for this series for the rest of its airing schedule.

Unfortunately this would not be the case. LEGACY after its first ten weeks would be hit by a one-two punch. The first punch came when its original director Jay Altarejos abruptly left the show. For the fans this was a big blow. This young director is admired for being quite a visionary when it comes to details. His camera angles are also very much talk about at every episodes end. When he suddenly left the show without any explanation, fans of the series were perplex at what really happen. Because of the sudden exit he was then replace by Andoy Ranay , a veteran director who is very capable for the job but has a different style than the former director. The change in the style was noticeable to the viewers and because of this LEGACY was not the same series again.



The Legacy of LEGACY

The second punch came at the same time the first director left the series. Not only was there a change in director, but there was also a sudden change of airing schedule. It suddenly switch timeslot with another GMA telenovela My Beloved. The switch prove to be beneficial to one of the series, unfortunately it was LEGACY who got the shorter part of the stick.

Before the switch LEGACY was already dominating its rival telenovela on another channel, while the other series My Beloved is trailing the other channel telenovela. After the switch My Beloved ratings went up since it went head-to-head with a series that is sagging already on the ratings, while LEGACY is smack to a series that has already gotten a firm foothold on the viewers for that timeslot. Needless to say the two punch combination sent this show reeling on the results of the ratings for quite some weeks.

Yet even if LEGACY suffered a blow through the decision of some people, many of its viewers still remain loyal to the show. Some irate fans though speculated that the switch of schedules is some sort of conspiracy by GMA to save their primetime queen Marian Rivera which is the main lead of My Beloved from the humiliation of starring in a struggling TV series. For the sake of protecting their prize talent, it seems like LEGACY became the sacrificial lamb in this move.

As the weeks passed by LEGACY adjusted and slowly started to climb again in the ratings game. Unfortunately the rival show has already gotten too much momentum and is nearly impossible to catch-up. There were rumors of early cancellation, but due to the intense lobbying by its die-hard fans, the network probably decided that it will be best to continue with the original plans for this series. With the end in sight fans of the series can only reflect on what might have been if the two punch treatment did not happen.

For a lot of people the series meant more than just a telenovela that will come and go. There were a lot of memorable moments in this show. Something that would be still talk about by the viewers for a long time after the show has ended. The story of the Alcantara sisters, the family disputes, the deceit, the greed, the intrigues and the famous and infamous line courtesy mostly of Alessandra de Rossi’s character Bernadette will just be some of the topics that fans will be discussing about.

Even if LEGACY seems to underrated, and underappreciated by most of the viewers, this show will definitely be remembered by the people who watch it for years to come. Perhaps this will be the legacy of LEGACY. That even if many regarded it today as a poor second to Walang Hanggan, its true value will only be seen in the future. LEGACY for me is is one of the classiest telenovela that ever aired on TV. It set the level on what a high-end telenovela should look and feels like.

The big question right now is there will ever be something like this again to ever be seen on TV. I hope so, viewers deserve more of this kind of series. And as fans await the ending we could only hope that someday their might be a chance that the story of the Alcantara sister have a continuation. From an ending of a saga, it might not be so far-fetched that it actually gives birth to another one. It actually screams for a sequel.

walang ka kwenta kwentang ending. dapat si bernadette ay di rin alcantara para natauhan siya. so ang nangyari si natasha lang ang hindi alcantara. sa una pa lang ay expected na natin na si diana lang ang alcantara dahil siya lang ang pinakitang naging anak nang alcantara at never pinakita na nagkaroon pa nang another affair sa ibang babae para iproduce si bernadette. nakakaloka minadaling bigla ang story kaya panget ang the end. as usual pag nag the end ang isang show minamadali at nawawala ang dapat maging ending ng show. pag nag start kasi ang isang soap naka focus sila dapat sa concept nang show at hwag papalitan ang mga characters maski gusto nang tao or hate nang tao dahil once na binago ang isang character doon nasisira ang credibility nang isang character at pati ending ay naaapektuhan. same din sa ginawa nila sa My Beloved. nabago ang concept nang story. hay naku GMA7 and ABS CBN never learned from their mistakes.wala ka lang talagang choice na hindi manood nang tagalog show dahil siyete and dos lang naman ang existing pinoy show dito sa ibang bansa.

Naniniwala pa rin ako ng LEGACY could have been one of the best telenovelas na ginawa locally. Ang talagang nakasama dito iyong biglang pagbabago ng direktor at timeslot. Noong nabago kasi ang direktor pati iyong direksyon ng kuwento kung saan- saan napunta.

Parang ang nangyari hindi mo na malaman kung saan ang dapat pagtuunan ng pansin ng kuwento. Dapat ba sa love story nila Natasha,Josh or Dinyigo or sa mismong corporate scenes. Mahirap din ang napasukan ni Andoy Ranoy, kasi hindi naman siya ang nagpasimula ng serye. Kaya iyong konsepto na unang binuo ni Jay Altarejos baka hindi niya talaga napag-aralang maige bago siya pumasok.

Marami ding mali sa napiling role. Si Maritoni ay masyadong OA.Agreed ako sa mga nagsasabing mas bagay na si Maribel LOpez ang gumanap sa role niya. Si Carlo Gonzales naman really SUCK as an actor. Kahit isang linya lang ang sasambitin niya ,paling pa ang dating. He SUCK,talagang nakabuwisit panoorin. Tapos sinama pa nila si Don Umali bilang lawyer ng LEGACY at katulad ni Carlo Gonzales he also SUCK(sino ba ang mga pumili sa mga ito.)

Iyong ending hindi ganoon kaganda .Parang minadali na lang nila. May mga scenes doon na kulang sa detalye o kaya hindi believable ang dating.

Still kahit ganoon ang kialabasan ng teleserye na ito, isa pa rin ito sa mga nagustuhan ko na drama series. Nanghihinayang lang ako kasi kung wala sanang naging problema ang series midway sa run nito, talaga sigurong kahit sa ibang bansa ay hahangaan ito ng mga non-filifino viewers.

Maganda pa rin ito,pero sa mga sumubaybay dito alam nila na hindi talaga nailabas ng LEGACY ang real potential nito dahil sa mga nangyaring pagbabago.

Sana huwag nang maulit ang mga ganoong pangyayari sa future na telenovelas.

may idadagdag pa pala ako: bakit laging mukhang pupunta sa party ang Alcantara sisters? nobody in high society corporate wears those clothes in the office. special mention would be diana's off-shoulder all black long dress at the finale week, party ba talaga ito? cherie gil had much better corporate-appropriate outfits, truthe be told. the production team should have taken cues from the TV series Revenge. they wear anything from Herve Leger to Alexander McQueen to Vera Wang, pero ang pamparty ay pamparty, ang pambahay ay pambahay, at hindi laging pa-sexy. running joke sa bahay ang pahabaan ng legs ng mga sisters, buti na lang lahat sila maganda ang binti. )
