Has anyone heard of it? I am not for it nor against it. I just need to find some scientific basis of its soundness, but I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

it seems to have worked very well for the people I know who tried i.
But it's incredibly meticulous and expensive.
They give you a diet based on some blood tests and you have to follow it to the number. You have to weigh your food (literally, on a scale) every meal.
From what i heard, getting the diet alone costs about 50k.
@buddybuilders Thank you. Yes, that's what I heard too. 50k just for the program based on your lab results. They said it's been around for more than 20 years, but I can't find anything about it here on the internet. No medical journals, no medical reviews. Just the info on their website. I can't even confirm Dr. Cohen's credentials. My tita is asking me about it, kaya I'm trying to do some research.
Hi there! These sites might help: http://www.health-forums.com/alt-sup...its-57067.html

Btw, I just signed up for the program about 2 weeks ago and have already lost 16lbs.![]()
personally as a doctor i think the program is not that good. specially the part where he says that exercise is not part.. my reaction was wtf!?! biggest loser nga they work there *** off to get 4-5 lbs of weight off... what more can just eating right do? plus with these programs im sure theres rebound obesity afterwards the "prgoram"
i have an officemate who underwent this program and i can assure you that this will work even without the workout, BUT kelangan mo sundin *** sasabihin nila sa food intake mo...siguro nagloose sya ng around 40lbs in 3months
even *** dami ng salt that you have to consume for the day may sukat and lahat ng food na kakainin mo susukatin mo before mo lutuin.
The list of foods that you're going to eat depends on the result of your blood test.
ultimately parang proper Diet pa din *** key dito kasi controlled *** pagkain mo![]()
Someone I know has 4 friends who went through this diet. She says the diet for the four is basically the same, with minute differences. What is cut is salt (less than a teaspoon per day), soya and soya bi-products (none), gluten and amount/volume of food. hence everything is weighed. it is quite difficult to sustain so at the end of the program there is a phasing in to allow one to adjust to "normal" food but still controlled. then you exercise. the reason is exercise is not included initially is because the food intake is very limited hence energy level could drop very low when exercising.
@boogie
how many months has your friend been off this diet? how is he/she now? you cant keep measuring what you eat all your life..
@TS
your choice.. you want a crash diet, be weak, have loose skin, be on minimal caloric diet.. do this expensive program.
but if you want to be fit, full of energy, save money, and be strong at the same time.. workout! eat clean
^So long as you're in a calorie deficit you will lose weight even without excercise. That's an absolute truth. You're a doctor right?
But is that advisable? For me of course I will still put working out into the equation. But in terms of pure weight loss only, calorie deficit is the basic principle of weight loss. No matter how "clean" you eat but if you're still in a surplus, don't expect to lose any weight. I hope we can stop using the term "clean food" since it's misleading in a way. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but we just have to learn to accept facts and new pieces of information that will only make us better.
Remember how we use to avoid egg yolks like it was the plague?
This endeavour is a never ending learning process.
Wash your food if you want it to be clean.
I only heard about the Cohen diet because of my office mate. I did a bit of research and there is the French Cohen diet and the American version, which my office mate is following. So far, its been a month and she has lost 15lbs!!!
@tanjol - about 5 months i think. She have already reached her ideal (sexy) weight; in fact nakapag bikini na sya during our company outing. As of the moment i think maintaining her weight na lang kasi from time to time nakikita ko na sya umiinom ng coke .hehe
ok naman *** skin nya, pero mas maganda siguro kung sinabayan nya ng work out to have strong and well toned body![]()
IMO. Self-discipline will play an important role if you will be undergoing this program. I think self discipline alone could actually help you loose weight and achieve the body that you want.
Diet + work out(running, boxing , walking etc) = healthy and sexy body![]()
You will lose weight , already said that but to a certain extent, and being calorie deficient this will make you weak, cranky, prone to disease etc. Not only is this expensive its also difficult to maintain after you finish the program.. what im saying is losing weight is not just a 5 month or 6 month or 1 yr program. it should be a lifestyle change, a change of mind setting so to speak, and should be done properly by eating the right food, and exercise. and not by starving yourself for 6 months for rapid weight loss.
Tanjol-you are a doctor, but it doesn't mean you know everything. Being on this diet requires discipline, determination and definitely a lifestyle change. how can you starve yourself when you are just choosing what is healthier to eat. You still eat 3 meals a day. 2 servings of fruits, crackers for snacks. The culprit is still junk foods. And part of this program is to eliminate junk food, chocolate, desserts , canned goods and preserved food. Isn't that still not healthy enough for you?
Im not claiming that i now everything.. that is an assumption you made.. Yes part of that program is doing all that... But dont you think doing all that and exercising is way lot healthier? Im just saying personally reading the blogs, checking the website, its kind of too good to be true.. and when its too good to be true.. usually its not.
My apologies! Just don't want to confuse the readers. With the program, if you are on any exercise program, before you start, they actually let you continue it but just in moderation, the reason being, with a strict diet and strenuous exercise, you may in return feel very very hungry and causing you to binge or eat a lot. However, if you never have an exercise plan, then usually, when you are near goal weight, then exercise is advised . Regarding this program as being too good to be true, probably all the forum you've read are success stories. There are also a lot of failure since as I've discussed. This is not an easy diet program but rather more of a lifestyle change. And mind you this is not easy! Every kg you lose is a product of discipline and determination.
Did research on Bea's diet and here it is: http://randomrepublika.blogspot.com/...s-and-bea.html![]()
TS you cant find any info on it coz 1.) it's a personalized program; 2.) it's new in RP; 3.) the program is so expensive, the participants refuse to divulge info on the innernetz.("I can't share my plan, it could be dangerous for you"-- duh! food is food, allergies aside.)
I'm not fat. I'm painfully thin but I got curious about Cohen b/c I was impressed with my colleagues who lost a lot of weight in a short span of time without their faces looking like boiled Pepe Smith masks. Losing weight without exercise? Sounds ok to me. At least we know the program is taking the credit for the weight loss not the intense exercise. But from what I've learned,
Downside:
- the program is tedious. They takal everything. A bloodtest has to be done regularly.
- it puts the dieters into a guilt-trip if they failed to follow the exact measurements. (Damn, 55K, all down the drain coz of those chocnuts). Who eats 2 pieces of choco?
- they all ate yoghurt (yuck!)
- you risk being an arse during parties and lunchbreaks.
Upside:
- They all look great and younger. They don't look like Eeyore.
- You don't get bad breath since you are allowed carbs.
- You are forced to stick to the program and follow the manual to the letter since it's 55K. You are likely to cheat if it's cheapo or by herbal supplementation. Those Cohenians are a disciplined bunch compared to others under a different program.
- The program is actually much cheaper than supplementation and meal replacement. Once you get it, you are on your own.
- It has an excellent support system/group.
It baffles me that it was designed for obese people and not really for people who want to lose the stubborn jellyroll, yet they disallow diabetics to sign up. Most obese people I know are borderline diabetics if not diabetics.
Is it worth a try? Yes, but discipline is key.
