SARA BAREILLES CONFIRMED TO RELEASE THIRD STUDIO ALBUM SUMMER 2013!

First Single, “Brave,” Available on iTunes on April 23

Headlining Special Solo Acoustic “Brave Enough” Tour in May

Multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles has announced plans to release her highly anticipated third studio album this summer through Epic Records. Recorded in Los Angeles and New York with producers including John O’Mahony (Coldplay, Metric) and Mark Endert (Fiona Apple, The Fray, Train), this album will continue to display Sara’s signature voice and stellar songwriting. The album’s first single, “Brave,” will be released on iTunes on April 23rd.

“I have never felt more open and more raw in my entire life. 2012 was a year of deconstruction for me personally,” said Bareilles. “I have been confronting some of my greatest fears in the last handful of months and have been amazed at how empowered I can feel when I muster up the courage to turn and growl back at those monsters under the bed. The songs on this album are a true reflection of everything I’ve come to experience in recent months and I’m going to celebrate that with the next most terrifying thing I can do…go back on the road…totally alone. Just me. And my piano. And maybe a guitar. And some whiskey. And some jokes. And my songs. I’m excited to share this next stage of my career with each and every one of my fans.”

Bareilles will embark be on an 18-city solo acoustic trek titled the “Brave Enough” tour starting on April 25th at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. and will go through May 23rd at the Highline Ballroom in New York. Sara Bareilles leaving 'The Sing-Off'

The X Factor and The Voice aren’t the only singing shows shaking up their judging panels this year.

Sara Bareilles is leaving NBC’s competition series The Sing-Off. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter wants to “focus on her music,” says a source close to Bareilles. She replaced original Sing-Off judge Nicole Scherzinger for the show’s third season after Scherzinger departed to Fox’s X Factor.

The move creates at least one opening on the judges panel for the lively a cappella competition. The show is being overhauled for its upcoming fourth round by its new executive producer — The Voice and Survivor guru Mark Burnett. It’s not yet clear if there are more departures to come. The show stars host Nick Lachey, and judges Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman.

Since The Sing-Off premiered in December, 2009, the series has its ups and downs in the ratings, but has maintained a fan-base of admirers. When it wasn’t renewed in 2012, many thought the show was cancelled. But last month NBC announced The Sing-Off would return sometime during the holiday season.

“The Sing-Off showcases great talent and a musical form I love,” Burnett said last month. “It’s very special, and we’re excited to be involved.”
