MANGIYAK-NGIYAK si Mr. Fu dahil sa balitang pagsasara ng Export Bank. Malaki ang panghihinayang ng TV and Radio host dahil milyones din daw ang naideposito nito sa naturang bangko.

Halos patayin ni Fu ang kanyang sarili sa pagtatrabaho tapos heto’t sa isang iglap ay mawawala lang pala ang pinaghirapan n’ya. Kahit makipag-coordinate pa siya sa PDIC ay hindi na yata niya makukuha ang kabuuan ng kanyang hinulog. Tanging ang insured amount lamang for every depositor ang maibibigay sa kaniya. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

Lesson: Wag mag-iimpok sa bangkong walang name. Para makasiguro, sa bangko ng gobyerno kayo magpatago ng pera n’yo, or to be more secured, sa piggy bank na lang. Hahaha!

Sharon will try to lose weight for Gabby

BINIHISAN ng TV5 ang dating Delta Theater sa Quezon City upang bahayan ng talk show ni Sharon Cuneta na Sharon, Kasama Mo Kapatid na mapapanood na sa Mayo 7 pero hindi muna sinabi ng Megastar ang oras ng pilot telecast.

Ayon nga kay Arnell Ignacio na nagsilbing moderator ng press launch, P100M ang initial na gastos ng network para lang sa studio ni Sharon.

Naging issue nga ang matagal na pag-eere ng show na nilinaw ni Sharon sa simula.

“Kaya po matagal, dahil maraming nangyayari. Tuwing magmimiting kami… This has been my set. We have taped more than 15 episodes already. We’ve gotten the hang of it beautifully.

“I love the show. Kaya po tumagal nang ganito, kasi po, my TV5 bosses, nobody wanted na hindi mukhang engrande, elegante, kaya they spent sa set at saka sa pinaka-importanteng bagay, ang concept ng show.

“Sa dami po ng talk shows at present na hindi lang ako ang host, sa dami ng ginawa ko, gusto kong ito ang maging legacy ko because although lahat ng naging shows ko, parang mga anak ’yan. You become a better mother habang tumatagal. I think that was happening to me. Itong aking pinakabunsong show, ang pinakahuling oportunidad na dumating sa buhay ko!

“Pero mas malalim ito in terms of featuring regular people. Hindi lang po celebrities. Because it’s a daily show, ayokong maging predictable everyday!” paliwanag ni Sharon.

Sa presscon din ’yon, hindi maiwasang umiyak ni Sharon lalo na sa isyu na mukha siyang pera kaya lumipat sa TV5. Pati sa nangungutya sa kanyang artista lang kasi siya.

“Hindi naman kasi ako ’yung basta makuha lang at magka-show lang. Gusto kong magkaroon ng creative freedom na salang na agad. Ayoko nu’n. Mas in depth na usapan.

“Actually I was shocked sa naging reaksyon ng ibang tao sa paglipat ko dito. Kasi parang ang dami-dami ng artistang lumipat ng ibang bakod ng ilang beses pero bakit nu’ng ako, parang ang laking… Nasaktan siyempre ang iniwan kong Kapamilya.

“Hindi ko naman maaalis ’yon sa mga boss ko na siyang malalapit sa akin, Boss Gabby, Ma’am Charo. Masakit sa akin dahil mahal na mahal ko sila! Hindi ko itinatago sa mga boss.

“In fact, before I signed, hindi ko naiwasang maluha. Kasi dati ang katabi ko, sina Boss Gabby pero ngayon, parang strangers na yata! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ngayon, hindi na.

“Kaya nasasaktan ako kapag sinasabi nilang about the P1B. Mostly P200M a year for five years. Tanggalin mo pa ang taxes, porsyento ng iba’t ibang tao, ’yun din ang kinikita ko mostly every year. So it’s not about the P1B contract!

“It was more about…Kasi ang hirap magsalita baka may masaktan. Let’s just say it…Respect with the people I deal with the industry. I felt after all my hard work, I deserve…I wanted my name on my shoulder! And it was TV 5 who gave it to me!” katwiran pa ng Megastar.

Dagdag pa ni Shawie, “Not for anything, hindi maliit ang P1B pero hindi na po bago sa akin ’yon sa 30 years na mahigit ko dito! Pinaghirapan ko naman po ito!”

Nagbigay rin ng paliwanag si Sharon tungkol sa hindi pagkakatuloy ng movie nila ni Gabby Concepcion.

“The problem was, ang nag-uusap, sina Gabby at Boss Vic. Nagkataon lang na at that time, naging sensitive ako. Feeling ko…But it was between the two of them. Sa akin, nothing personal.

“’Yung negotiation ba? ’Yun lang na wala akong kinalaman! So…I’m very confident na matutuloy ’yon! Maybe next year. Siyempre, magpapapayat muna ako. Hindi naman ’yung gagawa ng movie na parang luka-luka na ganito ang hitsura ko! Siyempre, when you prepare for a movie, magpapayat ka!

“Actually one of the reasons kaya hindi natuloy ’yung movie is Ginbee, Gabby’s wife, is due to give birth to their second child, I think, in August. Hindi mag-meet ang schedule namin dahil sa Amerika manganganak ang wife niya. Stuff like that. Tapos, ganyan pa maririnig mo na ayaw sa ‘yo ng leading man mo kasi nga… Lumabas ‘yon sa isang show eh!” dahilan ni Mega.

Derek: Hurt but moving on

Derek Ramsey can’t help but feel hurt. That’s because he was the last to know that he was taken out as Bea Alonzo’s leading man in a Star Cinema project directed by Olivia Lamasan.

“Hindi ako naniwala sa mga tao sa paligid ko na wala na nga ako talaga (sa movie),” the new TV5 contract artist admits.

But even then, he remained positive and thought he made the right decision by blocking off many projects to give way to the Bea movie. Until his manager (Joji Dingcong) told him the sad news that he (Derek) will no longer make the movie with Bea.

“I was the last to know,” he relates. “But I had to understand where it’s coming from. (Star Cinema) management believes it’s better for Bea to have a different partner in the movie.”

He was hurting and sad that he won’t work with Bea again, after they had a great time in their previous films, “One More Chance” and “I Love You So.”

“I don’t know if I will apologize to Bea because I haven’t done anything wrong,” he shares. “I just want to thank her for agreeing to work with me (again). Mas marami siyang hits na ginawa. Hindi pa lang kami nakapag-usap.”

But Derek would rather move on and refuse to take the Star Cinema decision personally.

“I don’t think they (Star Cinema) did it to spite me. I think they’re doing it as a business (decision).”


Looking at the bright side

So he’d rather look at the bright side.

“At least, I was able to have the short chance to work with Direk Olive (Lamasan). I shot one big scene for the movie. Direk Olive texted me and said maybe we can work together again in the near future.”

Star Cinema boss Malou Santos also sent Derek a text saying she hopes that he understands the decision.

Derek has no need to complain. Not when a call lifted his low spirits five minutes after he learned the sad news about his removal from the Bea movie.

He learned that Viva Entertainment is casting him with Anne Curtis and KC Concepction in the romance-drama with the working title “Nothing Compares to You.”

Derek couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, Lord!” when he learned about the offer.

The film casts Derek as a playboy who falls in love for the first time and wants to get married. But one moment of weakness sends his whole world crumbling down.

“Mas daring and complicated ang story na ito,” Derek reveals. He singles out KC’s character as extra challenging “because she has to step out of being KC to play the role.”

KC, like Anne, plays a party girl in the movie. But KC is the more liberated type who always goes out on a date. Anne sticks to just one guy. The two friends will end up fighting over a man (Derek).

“Nothing Compares to You” is not the only movie Viva, which produced Derek’s hit films – “No Other Woman” and “Praybeyt Benjamin” – has in store for the Kapatid talent.

Viva big boss Vic del Rosario wants Derek to play the title role in the new version of Fernando Poe Jr.’s “Totoy Bato.”

“Hindi lang siya pang-romansa; pang-sports pa,” says Del Rosario, referring to the film’s heavy action scenes.

Dream leading ladies

There are more movie offers, but if Derek has his way, he wants to do films with Vilma Santos (“kahit extra, okay na”), Maricel Soriano (“she’s most intense and will cut a scene to teach you how to do it”), and Sarah Geronimo (“I’m a fan”).

As newly-minted Kapatid, Derek will host the Philippine version of “The Amazing Race,” for which he looks forward to “traveling all over the beautiful country.”

He’s doubly thrilled to return to his native Great Britain where he will do TV5’s primer for this year’s London Olympics “and see the best athletes in the world.”

But before that, Derek will host the Miss World Philippines pageant in June.

“My hosting the Bb. Pilipinas didn’t push through, but I got Miss World instead,” he smiles.

Derek will be crowned Box Office King on Sunday, April 29, at the Guillermo Mendoza awards. After July, Derek hopes to be in talks about teleseryes.

Rosary around his neck

Derek traces these blessings to a rosary he wears around his neck, especially during presscons such as the one Viva hosted for him on April 27 at its Ortigas office.

The rosary with beige-colored beads came from a nun who made it just for him and gave it to Derek as a gift when he visited the site where the Blessed Virgin appeared at the Carmelite convent in Lipa, Batangas.

“Lots of good things have been happening to me and my family since sinuot ko ito,” Derek reveals. “The rosary will be there to protect me and to give me blessings.”

This also explains that different glow some people can’t help but notice in Derek these days.

“People say I look happy at bumata raw ako,” he beams.

If you’re as blessed as Derek is, you can’t help but look – and feel like someone on top of the world.

NGAYONG MAGSISIMULA na ang unang programa ni Sharon Cuneta sa TV5, mahihinto na rin ang pang-iintriga sa kanya, na diumano’y wala siyang pinagkakaabalahan sa showbiz, kaya nakahumalingan niyang patulan ang mga kakontra niya sa Twitter. Pero s totoo lang, tsikadora ang Megastar, kaya hindi mo maiaalis sa kanya ang magkuwento kaya sa pamamagitan ng kanyang Twitter account, mayroon siyang mga makakabangga.

Kapag nagsimula si Sharon na harapin ang kanyang mga isyu, tinatapos naman niya iyon, para nga hindi na paulit-ulit ang pag-atake sa kanya ng mga intriga. Kaya lang, isa sa mga ikinalulungkot ng Megastar na patuloy na ibinibintang sa kanya, ay ‘yung nakakainis daw na tsismis, na diumano’y anak ni Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan sa ibang babae ang batang lalaki na kanyang inampon, at iyon daw ay tinanggap ng mommy ni KC Concepcion, para hindi na lang diumano maulit pa na maranasan niyang muli ang makipaghiwalay sa asawa, katulad ng sinapit nila noon ni Gabby Concepcion.

Importanteng artista sa showbiz si Sharon. Maraming nagmamahal sa kanya, kaya opinyon ng mga nagmamalasakit kay Shawie, isa raw sa dapat na rin niyang iwasan ay ang medyo magkaroon pa siya ng maanghang at pahapyaw na pagkanti kay Piolo Pascual, dahil katulad niya, si Piolo rin ay walang ipinakisamang masama sa mga taga-showbiz, kaya maraming nagmamahal at nagtatanggol sa binata kapag mayroong tumitira sa guwapong aktor. Alam na ngayon ng Megastar, dahil naranasan na niyang kantiin din siya ng mga taong palihim na nagtatanggol sa ex-boyfriend ni KC.

KUMALAT ANG balita noong Biyernes, April 27, na nagsara ang isang Export Bank. Kasunod ng balitang ito ang pagdadalamhati naman ni Mr. Fu dahil ang pinaghirapan nitong ipon na umabot sa isang milyong piso ay kasabay ring naglaho sa pagsasara ng bangko.

Dahil dito, kasalukuyang nilalakad ni Mr. Fu at ng iba pang depositors kung paano sila makakakuha ng insured amount man lang ng kanilang deposit mula sa PDIC. How sad!
