ang dami palang threatened by tv5. they have good reasons to be.

in just 2 years tv5 has made a dent in the armors of the 2 big networks. gma and abs experienced reduction in advertising revenues this year compared to last year while tv5 raised its total revenues.

tv5 is still in the red because this is still the period of spending. it has to invest a lot in capex. in any business, there's gestation period. you invest first before realizing profit.

regarding industry leadership, depende ito sa goals ng company. it could climb to the top slowly or it could fasttrack its growth in market share. in this case it has to invest more. ito ata ang gusto ni mvp na goal, be number 1 the shortest time possible. that's why tv5 is investing a lot.

regarding naman sa brand strategy, tv5 wants to gain respectability and acceptability the fastest way. this is by getting real stars that could give glitter to the brand name. regardless of ratings, nora, lorna, sharon, aga, gabby, vic, joey, willie, etc. are still the biggest stars that shine the brightest in this industry.

^I actually agree with you except the gabby part. His comeback is not that successful IMHO, actually more on hype at pilit.

anyways, TV5 is really a threat but for now its still number 3. more work to be done.

Stars come and go but the institution stays nga di ba?

Masyadong madaming STARS, BIG STARS and SUPERSTARS and dos kaya nagkakaroon ng paglipat. MASYADONG MADAMI! FACTORY kase sila.

Maki-comment lang po. Superstar, Megastar, Diamond Star, Star for

    Anyway, kudos to TV5!

Mega Star Sharon Cuneta and adopted son, Miguel!

    Introducing Miguel

It’s a known fact that Sharon is a big believer in celebrating the Christmas season—she is known to buy holiday gifts throughout the year and takes the time to personally write notes on each gift card or tag on the presents. Last year, friends got a pleasant surprise when Sharon baked her famous carrot walnut cake and delivered them to everyone. Since Sharon doesn't share her secret recipe, just imagine the Megastar baking the cakes alone in her well-equipped kitchen at home!

This year, Sharon says her home is especially busy in anticipation of her and husband Sen. Kiko Pangilinan’s plan to travel with their kids: “For the first time ever, we are planning a trip abroad on the 26th till before my birthday and just before the kids start school again after the vacation. So I’m trying to double up on my preparations and just get everything delivered really quickly. We’re fixing because we’re going to have this garage sale, only in the village. So all my stuff from the attic are all down and I didn't realize how much clothes I had amassed! And now I can’t get rid of most of them. I’m just keeping those that are worth being archived—like clothes I’ve worn in a movie, yung mga ganyan. Most of it, sus, rarely worn or never worn. So I just want to start my year right and a little lighter. I’m actually trying to get rid of them because I want to have more space for my books.”

Her family’s holiday celebration becomes even more meaningful as Kiko and Sharon formally introduce their adopted son Miguel, now 2 years old, in the family’s annual Christmas card and calendar that they give away.

Sharon first hinted of Miguel, the boy she fondly refers to as “who came from my heart,” in her acceptance speech as Best Actress in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. At the time, she dedicated her winning to her family and the boy “that we are going to adopt.”

Sharon’s eyes light up when she talks about Miguel and sharing his photos with the public for the first time: “I’m excited, I’m so proud of him. He’s been with us for more than two years. And I think they’re writing down already the decision for formal adoption and I can’t wait.

“I said, hey, it’s been two years already. I want to be proud of my son. I want him to see this when he grows up—that we love him so much. ‘You know, you’re such a part of us from Day One.’ And that’s exactly how he’s acting now. He’s really ours. He really looks like he’s one of us.

“Is that osmosis or what? It’s the right time, when someone said, there’s a baby here, and sight unseen, di ba? I didn’t care if the guy had one leg or not, I didn’t ask. I just said, keep that boy because at that moment I was so ready. And this was the one child I had felt that way towards. That I had not seen. Not even in a picture.”

Spoken like a truly proud mother. Sharon says Miguel is growing up to be a sweet boy but who’s also turning out to be the true boss of the Pangilinan home with his charming ways. “I’m very happy to share him with everyone. I wish I could share more pictures. Maybe one day soon, I would come up with that.”

    Love for fans

In September this year, Sharon was greatly affected by the loss of one her most loyal fans, Melvin Querijero who affectionately referred to her as ‘Nay (mother). Sharon earned the moniker from a select few co-workers who’ve become close to her through the years. Sharon, in turn, fondly call them as “anak.”

“Yes, (I considered Melvin) my son. Kasi I have ‘anaks,’ eh. This one was he never asked anything from me. He would go to my set, be there before me, and just stay there and try to be helpful, try to be useful. He had epilepsy and in the end, that’s what got him. He got out of the swimming pool, they went yata on an outing. So he was there. His kasama left because he was already seated at the edge of the pool. But the next thing he knew, they looked and he (Melvin) was already under water.

Sharon didn’t think twice about traveling to his hometown in Quezon to pay her last respects for him. There, she narrated, she was deeply touched when she heard her songs being played at the wake. There was also a display of the photos of her and Melvin as well as the letters that she wrote to him. “The guy grew up with me and he never ever asked me for anything. That was love, unconditional love. You know (sighs), the guy loved me, called me Nanay, I met the family. Most of the Sharonians I’m close to have the same kind of devotion, which I really appreciate.

Like Melvin, whom Sharon loved as a friend, the Megastar expressed her heartfelt appreciation to her fans who have patiently waited with bated breath what direction their idol will take next. “I’m very grateful that their support is unwavering. Wherever I go there they are. And they’ve made it clear to me. I know that those who are close to me, there are like 200 of them, represent the Sharonians whom I’ve never met, who are in other countries or around the Philippines. I will be eternally grateful for that.

“I really can’t see how I would’ve managed without them all these years. It’s devotion, and that kept me going. Cause even if you’re down, you’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re feeling all these things, true or not, they always make you feel they’re waiting for something and it pushes you. They’re waiting for you and that’s all they’re asking for. There are people close to you that you can’t even expect that from. And here they are, who can be total strangers, and they’re just there for you.”

Kaabang-abang din ang The Biggest Game Show in the World (Asia) na sina Richard Gomez at Joey de Leon ang hosts.

Why ‘Paparazzi’ show shelved Mo interview
    By: Dolly Anne Carvajal
    December 8, 2011 | 2:56 am

I have been deluged with questions about why we didn’t air DJ Mo’s interview on “Paparazzi” last Sunday. Nor did we comment on the raging issue of his controversial “tell-all” YouTube video.

TV5 deemed it best to respect Mo’s privacy as he sorts out some personal matters. Since he has decided to quit show biz, he ought to be spared from further public scrutiny, which is the last thing he needs right now.

Last Sunday, before we went on the air, Mo sent me and some other friends this text message: “I set up my new cell phone number in New York. It’s (confidential) and a new BBM (confidential). My BBM is operational, the cell number in a few days when I get to NY.”

A mutual friend told me that Mo intends to go on hiatus for a year and just go “people watching” in NYC. Hopefully, he finds a new apple of his eye in the Big Apple.

    MO Twister
Fame isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be. Instead of judging Mo and Rhian, let’s look into the state of our own affairs of the heart. We are all more scarred and flawed than we care to admit or show.
