FEU Nursing grads, please read, important!

Certain blogs here in the states are saying that visas for nurses are being prepared. But still needs to be signed into law by the president.

The slots though are limited so check with your potential employers and lawyers about this for updates.

    Good luck Fellow Tams.

i think it is a house bill, authored by a Nevada congressman, who's also a doctor. The House actually passed it, and is now waiting for deliberation in the Senate.

But, if this is the bill that you are talking about, it will only benefit those who are already here on a non-immigrant visa. But it won't give any green card. If passed, it will only give nurses on a non-immigrant visa to work to any employer he/she wishes to, BUT subject to immigration approval.

It sounds really worthless, if you'll ask me, due to the following reasons:

    1. It will not cause any benefits to nurses waiting for their priority dates, considering that PT and Nurses are still under Schedule A labor shortage.

    2. Non-immigrant visas are generally transferable anyway to any employers, subject to immigration approval.

But I'm hoping you're talking about a different law.

Im not familiar with the provisions of the H1C. Isn't it the same with H1B?

I think with the present unemployment condition of nurses in Pinas, Im sure some with consider it, at least it might open new doors once here in the States. I would if I was in the same situation.

Let's just pray and hope for the best.

H1C, considering all its elements, is the same as H1B when it comes to work rights, maybe with all working visa. But it's limited to just 14 hospitals that are considered within the shortage area. And the past H1C law doesn't allow renewals or extensions - just 3 years and one should go back to his/her home country.
