Wow, it's nice to know that there are other nurses working in the clinical research industry. Sa office tatlo kaming nurses the rest are pharmacists and mga senior pa so I really feel alone and inferior to them. How long have you been in the industry pala ms. CRA?
Some companies don't require a clinical research experience pala?
^^like what companies?
Some companies prefer nurses because nurses know more medical terms used in the charts. This is a good career option for the increasing number of unemployed nurses right now. I have been in this industry for a year now and Im enjoying it...
Most companies require previous experience but others do their own training for those without experience. I think most pharma companies do this like GSK, Novartis and the like...
I totally agree with you ms. CRA that nurses fit well into the clinical research industry and that Clinical Research Organizations (outsourcing companies) and Pharmaceutical companies should hire more nurses to monitor clinical trials.
For those interested, you can do your research about the industry and related companies (both Clinical Research Organizations and Pharmaceutical companies) for career opportunities. Good luck fellow nurses!
thanks Ms_Cra. hehe. Unfortunately, am jobless now. But I'm looking forward to this job. It seems fun and less toxic. BTW, would these companies (just in case) allow me to take Masters while working on them? Since the univ. I'm rooting for has their M.A. on weekdays only which is of great disadvantage apparently. =(
Hi, I think you'll have a problem with that. Being a CRA eats a lot of your time, sometimes you have to bring work at home because of the deadlines of reports. So, I think you'll have a difficult time doing the CRA job and masters at the same time. But, I know some CRAs who take up MA on a weekend.. I think that works, but on weekdays? its not advisable.![]()

Thanks for the info! I am also a nurse.
Hi CRA! Thanks also for sharing. Do you know anyone who is currently connected with Quintiles? Where is their office? I currently work as a virtual assistant of a legal nurse consultant. I would like to work also as a Clinical Research Associate that is if they hire nurses who has no related experience but qualified for the position due to educational background.=) I wonder how are they being paid also? I can't find their office here.
Hi what sort of requirements do I need to pass and is it like hardcore research? I worked for a drug research facility funded by UST but not as a researcher but to care for the drug volunteers...
hi i need job to start asap. im a RN got clinical experience for almost 2years. i just finished my contract and now im still searching for a new job with high salary and day shift work. thanks a lot!
@lady_joelle: Quintiles is in Ortigas.
@juicyfridays: In our company (CRO), just submit your updated CV/resume, they'll call you for an interview and wait for the result. No exams needed. The job is more administrative and managing of the clinical trials, making sure everything is going well and as per the protocol of course without compromising patient's safety and data integrity.
@Tincy: Clinical Research Industry will pass your standards then.
This is perfect timing. I have friends who are looking for good jobs, since their terms as volunteer nurses are about to end. However, the companies mentioned above require experience raging from 1-2 years working in clinical trials. Are there positions for those with no related experience or possibly, for new RNs? thanks!!
@chinesemestizo: thanks! so its a day shift workis your company hiring to start asap? thanks! btw, where can i pass my resume? thanks
@ms CRA: youre from quintiles also like chinesemestizo?
thanks!
@meiyingwang: I belive there are companies who accept qualified applicants (i.e. medical background) for entry level positions/assistant roles to gain experience and to learn the ropes of the industry. Some get experience as study coordinators/study nurses employed by investigators (physician) in hospitals.
@tincy: There's no requisition yet for the entry level position but I'll let you know once they opened it.![]()
