Tips on How to Get A US Employer to Sponsor You

With gas prices skyrocketing and employment opportunities scarce, it would seem that our country's economy is hitting rock bottom. That is why many of our countrymen are resorting to gambling their fates abroad. It is undeniable that many of us are still banking on living the American dream. Which would explain the boom in number of Filipino nurses. Many apply for US Tourist Visas with no assurance that they would be able to find a company that would sponsor them. Here's an article I found that might just help you in acquiring a sponsor. Before you start packing your bags, it would be worth your while to read it.

    ^Nice article. Thanks!

Job hunters: Better manage expectations though. The US Economy and the Job Market is not what it used to be 5 to 10 years ago. If one is successful in the Philippines you don't have to go abroad. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

The first step is to overcome the mental chains of crab mentality and then soar like an eagle. Pinoys face a simple choice: crawl like crabs or soar like (American) eagles.

    So true.

People still think the american dream will somehow "fix" the problems that we ourselves are not able to fix on our own through hard work or education.

But with the ailing economy globally, I think it's starting to sink in that its not really all about where you are.

prior to looking for a company to sponsor you, bear in mind that H1B visas have limits too and if you are a Nurse, EB3 has a waiting time of 5 years?

Life indeed is truly hard nowadays that's why people were struggling trying to find ways to remedy the so called "poverty". One of which is the idea of finding their luck in the US. But sadly not all were victorious. Some ended up being TNT and suffer more. So I think for me, going abroad is not always "the only option" as mimi_hk said "The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence."

Better look to our neighbors here in the East instead of going all the way to the USA where the economy is not doing very well. But wherever it is you want to go, the best way to market yourself and be noticed is by investing in yourself. Doing well in school, having a solid industry experience, and good work ethics can take people places.

i would prefer going to other countries or stay here in the Philippines instead of the US..US economy today is not that stable compared before. If I land a good job here, I'll prefer to stay and serve my people and my country.

    When should I NOT post?

We encounter a lot of posts that don't bring any value to the discussions on PEx. Here are a few questions to ask before posting something people are going to ignore:

Is the majority of my post a rehash of a previous post?
Does my post have textspeak (txtspk) or too many CAPITAL LETTERS?
Will my post offend a lot of people?
If you answered YES to these questions, then you might want to rethink that post you're about to submit.

    When should I post?

    When should I post?

Three questions to ask yourself before posting:

Is what I have to say on-topic?
Will my post have proper grammar, spelling and capitalization?
Will my post add anything significant to the discussion?
If you answered YES to these questions, then post away!

Thank you for the article that you shared. It is indeed very hard to have an American employer to sponsor you. A lot of Filipinos have the same problem and confusion. Lucky for those who have American relatives for it will be easier for them to find a job in the US. But how about those with no connections?

I also agree to some comments that working overseas may not always be the answer. The grass may look greener on the other side, but the road to it may be very bumpy.

my advice try to look other countries. Last September 2011 USA has a 9.1 percent unemployment rate. Many americans have no job. I think they prefer to hire their fellow americans than to hire other countries skilled workers.
