its like a pba backed national team with a prime Asi Taulava
yeah Marcus is good but he does not have Asi's toughness in his heyday
tnt almost made it in this edition they try to add Ranidel, Jimmy and Kelly if you add Asi a known tnt legend and Japhet in the final line up and also rumors that they want to add Ryan and Larry in the lineup but the grandslam did not happen and borrowing a famous line from their coach laspag na ang tnt boys

you cant blame the pba along with the pba teams honestly,
truth is whenever the pba would lend its players to the national, it affects the pba entirely their ratings go down , attendance drop.
afterall they tried it a couple of times already still we never bring home the championship.
so why continue on . . . . its not about talangka mentality but prove something works , really cant blame the pba since its a dying league already di na katulad dati talagang buhay na marami nanonood.
look at it now, no station wants to broadcast it games. to the point advertising during nba and uaap time is more compare to pba.
There is no other way for the PBA to regain its popularity but through supporting the national team 100%. The head and the board of governors just don't get it, kahit anong pakulo pa ang gawin nila hindi na kakagat ang tao whether changing gameplay, format and promos or prices, etc. ay wa epek na yan.
People have so many ways to get information nowadays and they all know that PBA and its stars are nowhere near the level of our top Asian counterparts. Instead of dilly-dallying they should act now where we have a very capable SBP organization to help them. Hindi din naman full PBA roster ang kailangan just a handpicked players from the league.
So you're saying we should give up? and make ourselves the laughing stock of other Asian countries because we easily give up.
In my case, seeing these PBA players perform well against International calibre or NBA calibre players from others countries makes me respect them even more, and therefore makes me try to watch them more often in the PBA. Like for example, I use to hate Kerby Raymundo before. I would always say "Ah wala yan, puro porma at yabang lang yan wala naman ibubuga sa International competitions yan". But when I saw him play his heart out in the game of Team Pilipinas vs Iran during the 2007 FIBA Asia, all that changed. I respected him more as a player. Same thing for the other players like James Yap and Cyrus Baguio.
I think the opposite effect would happen once we see our PBA players compete against Asia's best. At pag nakita mo yon, mas lalo kang hahanga sa kanila...and therefore...mas papanoorin mo lahat ng laro nila.
parati kayong all amateurs noon, go for the all-amateurs it's the move to make, tapos nung wala din pala, singing new tune, damot ng pba, susmiyo, it's all about talent and unity
Make gilas like a pba team. May sweldo, may contract, etc. magiging ok yan. Kaya lang, kung nagkaganyan, kelangan nang tanggalin ng pba ang "only the best play here"
Example:
Kiefer Ravena Greg Slaughter, give them salaries like in the pba. hindi na nila iisiping magPBA. Just let them commit fully sa smart gilas at yun na ang core ng gilas. Maski si
Chris Tiu
Japeth Aguilar
Marcus Douhtit
Ravena and Slaughter

"Shtanhardinga" is still a prospect.
In other news, former Blue Eaglet Gian Chiu is itching to play out his injury-free senior year with the Oberlin College Yeomen. The 6'9 pre-med student has the option of becoming a C or PF for Smart Gilas 2.0 or, more likely, its team physician
Other info:

(2007-2008): Played in 25 of Oberlin’s 26 games in first season with the Yeomen … As a freshman, Chiu was one of three players to start more than 17 games (21) … Compiled three double-figure games including a career-high 15 against Kenyon (2/13/08) … Led the team in charges taken with 11 … Finished the season third on the team in field goal percentage (.462) … Chiu was among the team leaders in blocked shots (2nd – 12), rebounds (3rd – 57), scoring (5th – 5.4 points per game), and minutes played"

Top pick Casio disappointed over contract: report
MANILA, Philippines – Former Smart Gilas standout JV Casio is apprehensive about the contract offered to him by the Powerade Tigers, the team that made him the number 1 pick in the 2011 PBA Rookie Draft.
According to PBA.ph, Powerade is only offering Casio a 2-year deal.
"We've heard Powerade will only give a new contract after the 3rd year, and it will be based on the performances of the player and the team," Casio's agent, Charlie Dy, told PBA.ph.
Casio's contract situation is in contrast with 2nd over-all pick Paul Lee, who has been signed to a maximum 3-year contract by Rain or Shine. He will be paid the league maximum of P150,000 monthly.
"Parang hindi fair, kumpara sa ibang fellow first round picks ni JV na nabigyan ng tig-ti-three-year contracts," Dy said.
The agent said that he and Casio will meet with the team management Wednesday, but are already considering other options.
Dy revealed that if Casio is indeed offered only a 2-year deal, the star point guard may opt not to sign with Powerade.
"We just have to listen to what they have to say, about their plans for JV and with regards to the team," Dy said.
