Wee.. Paano yan, today is that day. Haay.

Recommended for hiring ang contents nun. Then after few minutes, may job offer ka na and they'll ask you to sign the contract.

    Tips pano maging magaling.

    1. Buy colored pens. Seryoso. At least magkaroon ka ng red at black, pero preferably may blue, green at iba ka pang color para maganda ang mga tickmark mo.

    2. In relation to number 1, magkulay sa Excel. Learn complementary colors. Unless specifically ayaw ng senior/manager mo which in that case this is a bad idea.

    anymore tips? hehe

Magbibigay din po ako ng additional tips.

Note lang po nasa Deloitte po ako nagwowork, hindi ko sure kung same lang sa lahat ng firms pero more or less parepareho lang yan. (ATA, please enlighten me.)

    (1) Brush up on your english. Important ang documentation. If it is not documented, it is not done. Medyo mahaba ang nilalaan na time for Understanding and Test of Controls.

    (2) When starting on your first engagement, ask for the Prior year's Audit File. Dun mo ibase yung iba. What I do is Import the old Prior Year Files and update na lang.

    (3) Brush up on excel shortcut skills. Time is everything.

    (4) And lastly, don't sacrifice quality. Quality above all. f7 bago magsubmit ng workpaper sa Senior.

While it's true that obtaining the PY WPS is a good start, mere "update" would not suffice more often than not cause you are just limiting yourself to what the previous auditor/tester did.

The important thing is to challenge what was documented in the WPS and challenge the procedures performed especially on the high risk areas.

In theory yes. In practice, no chance in hell for a new staff unless you're a rock star meant to be managing partner.

The challenging prior year documentation generally falls to the experienced staff/senior. Again, unless you're really, really, really good.

It was meant for his first engagement po. Updating is not sufficient talaga. Pero being new, you can't actually challenge it so much kasi nangangapa ka pa.

Not necessarily true. You need not to be the leading rookie of the year candidate to be able to challenge prior year documentation / procedure.

There are some especially the enthusiastic ones who respectfully give their views in the matter. And there are those proud ones (e.g. "This is what I've learned in college blah blah, why are we doing it this way blah blah blah and not that way blah blah blah")

I might have been too proud back then! Pakapalan lang ng mukha yan!

Anggaling niyo naman po. I don't think I can be that brave during my first engagement. Lagi akong nagtatanong, yes. Pero to completely challenge the WP. Parang di ko kaya on my first time. Hands down to you sir.

I'm pretty sure the older guys will praise your enthusiasm, but afterwards won't care. Seriously. Audit is a hell lot more of an experience thing than an "apply classroom learned skills" thing.

Again, not necessarily true. PMDP feedbacks at least can have those. Don't know how you were rated but I'm pretty much sure I gave those types of peer feedbacks and will continue to give those types of downward feedbacks.

    Seriously.
If this was true then I should have not received a downward feedback stating "one step ahead!" I'm pretty much sure I got remembered for who I was during the engagement.

If in any case they won't care, I couldn't care less as long as I got the rating I wanted!

I'm still in the external audit as an audit staff.
I do have a personal client as well and hoping to have some more in the near future.
Currently pursuing MBA and hoping to be a manager or to be in the academe soon.

If you really want to go to external audit, as far as I know, hiring season will start by mid-October right after the release of results of the CPA board exam. Hope you'll land a job before the year ends.
    God bless you!
Kakainggit naman. CPA din naman ako. kaya lang late bloomer, 34 yrs old nako, marriea and 1 child. I passed 4 years ago. I want to experience external audit *** lang bka di nako qualified because of my age

it will never be too late for any one
maraming pros and cons ng pagpasok sa audit. Just check kung alin po ang mas matimbang senyo. It's worth trying, habang magsisimula pa lang po ang hiring season. God bless!
