Kenny Dalglish has today revealed that he will leave it until the last minute to decide whether Luis Suarez will face West Brom on Saturday.

The striker picked up an ankle knock during the Carling Cup success at Stoke City and the boss admitted he has since undergone treatment at Melwood.

Dalglish told his pre-match press conference: "He's had a bit of treatment so we'll see how he is. He's had a tough time recently, so we'll see how he is tomorrow."

Suarez's magnificent brace in the triumph over Tony Pulis's men had the boss struggling for superlatives during his post-Stoke press conference.

He admits he has been delighted by the former Ajax star's overall contribution since moving to Anfield and reckons he is proving to be a great ambassador for the Reds.

"I said it the other night, my vocabulary ran out within a week when the wee man came here," said Dalglish.

"He's been fantastic and the great thing him about him is that he is very unassuming as well.

"Everybody can see what he can do on the pitch. He's got no edge to him. He doesn't think he is better than anyone else and he's fantastic in and around the football club. He's a great ambassador for the club as well.

"So for us, as well as his football, the other things he brings to the club are important as well.

"If we do have someone else capable of doing that then we need to get him on the pitch as well, at the same time as the wee man.

"He's only been here since January and we are already running out of compliments to pay him. That in itself is a huge compliment I suppose."

Steven Gerrard was a notable absentee during the Carling Cup encounter in the Potteries but Dalglish was quick to rebuff any queries surrounding his fitness.

"It's just part of the course of sensibility, I think, with both him and Glen (Johnson)," said Dalglish. "There's nothing wrong. They both could have played if they had to play. It was our choice."

Asked if he had any other injury doubts for the showdown at the Hawthorns, Dalglish added: "More or less it's a full squad."

'Carroll was unbelievable'

Charlie Adam hailed fellow goalscorer Andy Carroll's display as 'unbelievable' - but claimed the Reds as a whole still needed to improve despite a deserved 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion

Adam calmly slotted into the net from the penalty spot early in the game before Carroll secured the points with a low drill beyond Ben Foster.

Our Scottish midfielder was full of praise for record signing Carroll, whose link up with Luis Suarez caused havoc for Roy Hodgson's defence.

"The big man has been unbelievable today and the finish for our second goal was terrific," he said.

"Once we got the goal it changed the complexion of the game. I thought we played well in the first half. Second half, we never kept the ball as well as we should have and it's something that we'll maybe have to get better at.

"But to come here and get three points has delighted us.

"We're disappointed with some of the results we've had this year. Last week (v Norwich) we had numerous chances and could have finished it off but that's what happens when you play in the best league in the world. If you don't score you can get punished, and we did.

"We've done that a couple of times this year but today we've started the game very well and deserved to win the game in the end."

Carroll himself was delighted to get on the scoresheet - and saved a word of praise for Suarez, who was felled for the penalty before creating our second goal.

"He's fantastic, you can see," said Carroll. "He creates chances for everyone and obviously puts them away himself. He's fantastic to have in the team.

"It was nice to score. I've been missing a few games, sitting on the bench, so it's nice to get my chance and put one in the back of the net.

"I know I'm capable of doing what I do."

YNWA - The beginning

On 2nd November 1963 Anfield was filling up nicely and an expectant crowd assembled on the Kop looked forward to the afternoon’s game against Leicester City. Shankly’s men were sitting in third place in the top division just two points behind Sheffield United and Manchester United, having played a game less, and had won their last five league games (including a 2-1 derby victory over the old enemy).

So it was that spirits were high for the visit of their bogey side Leicester City, who had knocked them out of the FA Cup at the semi final stage seven months earlier thanks to a Stringfellow goal which broke Kopites’ hearts. http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=43266

However, Liverpool would eventually go on to win Shankly’s first championship in the spring, it would not be events on the pitch that wet November Saturday, which would have a lasting effect on the proud football club.

As was the tradition in the early sixties, the public address system would run down the top ten singles in the 45 minutes prior to kick-off, in Anfield’s own version of The Chart Show. Unlike today, the ground would be pretty much filled by 2:30pm, as fans took up their favourite specs on the terraces. In order to amuse themselves as much as anything else, the pre-match period would be occupied by the singing for which the Kop was already becoming famous.

That particular afternoon, as Bill Shankly and his men made their final preparations under the Main Stand, the chart rundown was going on as usual above them.

Adam Faith, Chuck Berry, local lads The Searchers (Sugar and Spice), Shirley Bassey, Trini Lopez (If I had a Hammer), The Crystals, Roy Orbison and Brian Poole & The Tremeloes blasted out from the primitive speakers around the ground.

Then at number two it was The Beatles singing She Loves You. This was a huge favourite, and the Kop sang along with gusto. The mood was high as the teams were awaited. With the Kop now in full voice the speakers crackled as the Anfield DJ placed the stylus on the number one record.

The new number one song in the United Kingdom was, of course, Gerry and the Pacemakers with “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. The Kop swayed and sang and an anthem was born.

The song stayed at number one for four weeks before “She Loves You “replaced it. Soon Gerry’s song was dropping out of the top ten, but the Liverpool fans demanded that the DJ continued to play it and so the tradition of playing YNWA prior to kick-off at Anfield was launched. There has not been a home game in the 48 years since at which the famous anthem has not rang around Anfield. The name of the song now features on the club badge, on the Shankly Gates and is as much a part of LFC as the Liver Bird.

As was the custom in those days, Leicester City beat Liverpool that day, with Gordon Banks outstanding in a 1-0 win.

Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher swapped the green grass of Anfield for the silver screens of Hollywood recently as they filmed their cameo roles in the new Istanbul-themed movie 'Will'.

Released nationwide on Friday, the film tells the story of 11-year-old schoolboy Will Brennan and his determination to make it to the 2005 Champions League final in honour of his father.

Much of the movie was shot on location at the Ataturk Stadium - and we've got these great behind-the-scenes snaps from the set.

They're three of the finest players to have ever donned the Red jersey - and now Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are set to grace the big screen in a forthcoming movie based around Liverpool's 2005 Champions League final triumph.

Set for nationwide release this Friday, 'Will' tells the story of 11-year-old schoolboy Will Brennan - a rabid Kopite whose knowledge of the game outstrips even that of his football-obsessed classmates.

However, Will's life is turned on its head when his long-absent father, Gareth, reappears...complete with two tickets for the Champions League final in Istanbul.

But before they can rekindle their relationship, Gareth passes away suddenly.

Heartbroken, Will decides to make the arduous trek to the Ataturk Stadium on his own in honour of his late father and also to be with his beloved Reds.

En route, he encounters Alek, a former Yugoslavian football star who gave up the game following the civil war in his country.

Despite his initial reluctance, Alek finds himself inspired by Will's heroic journey and agrees to take him to Istanbul. And thus this unlikely pair of underdogs takes to the road, battling fate and fortune in a desperate bid to prove to themselves that it's never too late to dream.

Starring the likes of Damian Lewis, Bob Hoskins, Kristian Kiehling and Perry Eggleton, much of 'Will' was filmed on location at the Ataturk Stadium.

And if that wasn't enough reason for Liverpool fans to go and see the movie - there are also cameos by Dalglish, Gerrard and Carragher.

Director Ellen Perry explains: "The match at the Ataturk Stadium where Liverpool came from three goals down to beat AC Milan on penalties was epic, operatic, impossible but also true.

"The more we learned about it, the more it seemed the perfect setting for and culmination of Will's journey. Emotional, exotic, and watched by hundreds of millions worldwide - this was a massive stage on which we wanted to tell an intimate story of one boy's loss and redemption.

"But beyond the 2005 final, Liverpool FC has a special relationship with its fans. Its anthem, 'You'll Never Walk Alone' encapsulates Will's story, and exhorts one and all to never give up, to never quit on your friends and family, to always strive to be your best. That's not a bad outlook.

"Of course there are many other big clubs in Europe and around the world. But Liverpool made the most sense. The Istanbul final made even greater sense.

"And having King Kenny Dalglish appear both as a distant memory and also in the flesh was like a gift from the heavens."
