Craig David to Perform at Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

R&B crooner Craig David has signed on to perform at the upcoming Michael Jackson Tribute Concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on October 8. David is the first musician announced for the tribute event, which will commemorate the late King of Pop’s life.

Voicing his excitement for the forthcoming performance, David wrote on Facebook, “I am honored to announce I will be performing alongside some of the world's greatest artists at the Michael Jackson tribute concert."

The "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" is produced by mother Katherine Jackson along with siblings Marlon, Tito, Jackie, La Toya and concert promoter Global Live.

Jackson’s brothers Randy and Jermaine recently spoke out about not supporting the tribute, insisting the family should wait until after the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death.

The full line-up is set to be announced over the coming weeks, and all proceeds from the show will be donated to charities in the UK and US.

With the 10th anniversary of Aaliyah’s untimely passing, BET is set to honor the lost R&B star with a tribute special commemorating her life. The show, entitled ‘Aaliyah: One In a Million,’ will feature commentary from Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Patti Labelle, Kelly Rowland, and more.

Fans can tune into BET on Thursday, August 25 at 8pm est to catch the special. Until then, BET is already underway with a 25 day celebration (starting August 1st) celebrating the accomplishments of the late great Aaliyah.

The beautiful and talented JoJo performed effortlessly at DoSomething’s Staples for Students event Sunday following the Teen Choice Awards. Looking stunning in a cocktail dress, she was accompanied by a guitarist and percussionist as she performed an acoustic set for fans. Some of her songs included oldies but goodies like “Leave (Get Out)” and “Too Little Too Late”. She also performed her new single “Jumping Trains” from her forthcoming album of the same name. Lineup Announced for Michael Jackson Tribute Concert, Brothers Believe The Event Should be Postponed

In what is sure to bring together music's most gifted performers, the tribute concert for the late Michael Jackson will definitely be a star-studded event. "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert", which is slated for October 8, will feature acts like Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green, Craig David, JLS and more.

In addition to a-list performances, members of the Jackson family are sure to take the stage at the Wales Millennium Stadium in Cardiff this October. From the King of Pop's mother and brothers to his nephews (sons of Tito Jackson), this tribute concert will be a family affair.

Understanding that all genres loved Michael, alternative rock band Alien Ant Farm has also been added to the bill for the four-hour event. According to promoters at Global Live Events, more artists will be added in the upcoming days. "This announcement is just the beginning, we have many more to announce," Global Live Events executive Paul Ring said. "This concert will unite various generations and musical genres, reminding everyone of just how amazing a talent Michael was."

Now that part of the lineup has been revealed, fans can begin "registering their interest for tickets" Thursday at http://www.michaelforevertribute.com/. A lottery will then determine which of Michael's fans will be invited to purchase tickets. For more details on the concert, look for Jackson matriarch Katherine Jackson to discuss plans for the event in a live broadcast on CNN Monday.

However, the entire Jackson clan is not in support of the concert. Jermaine and Randy Jackson have been very vocal about their distaste for the timing of the event. In a joint statement, the brothers said, "While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death."

"In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live," Randy and Jermaine Jackson said.

In a recently released statement, the Michael Jackson Fan Club shared the same views as the brothers. "We share their concerns that this concert is taking place at a most inappropriate time when everyone's care and attention should be focused on the matter of justice. We believe that, as stated by Jermaine and Randy, the most important tribute we can give to Michael Jackson at this time is to seek justice in his name."

While the opinions on the tribute concert are mixed between family and fans, the event is projected to be a success with a portion of the proceeds going to The Aids Project LA and The Prince's Trust.

TYRESE COLLABS WITH MELANIE FIONA ON NEW ALBUM

Last week Tyrese requested that all of his almost 2 million Twitter followers contact Canadian singer Melanie Fiona, and let her know he is looking for her. Less than a week later the two were in the studio working on new music for Tyrese’s upcoming album Open Invitation. The “Stay” singer thanked his followers saying,

“Loving my followers!! I just got off the phone with @melaniefiona .. Magic is in motion!! I love this stuff!” tweeted the excited star. “My sweetness!!! Keri Hilson Talks New Album, Plans to Direct

While currently on tour with Lil Wayne, Keri Hilson recently took a moment to reveal a few details about the focus of her upcoming third album, and her plans to get behind the lens for her next music video.

While Hilson is still technically promoting her sophomore release, 'No Boys Allowed,' the 'Lose Control' singer told Billboard that she's planning to make some changes next time around. "We're proud of the fact that we have so many options on my albums for singles, but for the next one I really want people to get the concept of the album," she said.

"I think some of the singles that we've chosen so far don't quite encapsulate the album title and theme, so I want to release a song that makes it a little easier to understand," Hilson continued. "I straddle the fence between getting the concept out and just having a simple, great, successful song."

In addition to releasing a more conceptual release, Ms. Keri Baby revealed that she would like to direct her next videos. "I would love to tell a story and shoot more videos on my own," she said. "I would love to do a short film-style video ... because it's a real story of single women who are dating. I keep it real. I talk about how we really think and how we really feel. So I think there's a message to still be had from this project."

Catch Keri Hilson on the second leg of Lil Wayne's I Am Still Music Tour with Rick Ross, Lloyd and Far East Movement in Pelham, Ala. tonight. The tour continues across the country, concluding on September 11.
