yes it will survive. of course popularity and ticket sales will not be the same.
Oo naman, mabubuhay ang UAAP. Example ay nun 2006.
They've survived even without the two last entries in the UAAP.
Ang kitid naman ng utak ng threadstarter. Kids. Pffft.
I don't know with you but Ateneo's goal is to win the fourpeat title and not just to beat La Salle.
YES. Ibang rivalries lalabas. Pwede FEU vs UST. O malay niyo mag Final 4 ang UP.
Basketball lang to. Wala naman ADMU sa ibang sports...
Wow, people are really defensive here. Will the league survive without Ateneo and La Salle? Sure, no reason why it shouldn't - the league survived for years without these two schools, and will survive even if they leave. However, to deny that the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry is the premiere rivalry in Philippine collegiate sports, and to say that them leaving will have no effect - that's a bit too much.
to answer the question .. YES. the UAAP will "survive" even without the legendary Ateneo-Lasalle Rivalry..
question is.. will it flourish? will it still be the "Glamour" League it is today, enjoying all the media hype and endless corporate sponsors? .. obviously .. NO. IF Ateneo and Lasalle goes back to the NCAA, then the NCAA will be the glamour league and the UAAP will be the ones demoted to weekday games in The Arena in San Juan or even Rizal Memorial Colosseum..
even today the UAAP (largely due to the Ateneo-Lasalle Rivalry) is even more popular than the PBA!
I think kahit lumipas ang rivalry between ADMU and DLSU, buhay pa rin ang UAAP and hindi siya babalik sa state nito noong 80s kasi iba na ang level of popularity nito. As long as both schools will stay with UAAP. Sa volleyball and football, walang ADMU-DLSU rivalry pero may potential maging source of ticket revenues.
Mas magandang idea nga na may home courts ang bawat UAAP member school eh. It will somehow boost the popularity of UAAP especially among students.
Kung babalik ang ADMU at DLSU sa NCAA, well yes, it will largely affect UAAP's current state of glamour and prestige. Pero it will not necessarily demote UAAP games to an all-weekday games. More like magiging equal ang treatment to both leagues.
Kumbaga, following that scenario, ang sikat is...
NCAA: Ateneo, La Salle, San Beda
UAAP: UP, UST, FEU
Pero it is highly unlikely that both Ateneo and La Salle will go back to NCAA.
