Christie: I've played the part of Queen Jocasta in college. Let's choose scene 3.
Colin: Okay, which role will I play?
Christie: Oedipus, who else?

Scene 3 summary:

While Queen Jocasta was offering and praying to the God Apollo for the peace of mind of King Oedipus a messenger from Corinth came to tell Oedipus that his Father died and he was chosen as the successor. Oedipus then showed up and partially rejoiced upon hearing the news because the prophecy that he will kill his own father and will have children from his own mother did not come true. The messenger told him that he is not the real son of the deceased king but instead was adopted since they didn't have their own baby. Oedipus was suddenly worried, bent on to get the real truth about his life. Queen Jocasta warned him not to pursue the truth as it will destroy him...

A Roadblock is a task that only one person may perform. In this Roadblock, that team member must participate in three events played during the Ancient Olympic Games: stadion, long jump, and discus throw. When they successfully finish all three events, they will receive their next clue.

Scene:

When Oedipus sees his wife/mother hanging from the rope, he affectionately lays her down, removing the pins that hold together her robe. Using these long brooches, he gouges out his eyes, screaming, You, you'll see no more the pain I suffered, all the pain I caused! Too long you looked on the ones you never should have seen, blind to the ones you longed to see, to know! Blind from this hour on! Blind in the darkness-blind!


Jess: This looks dramatic to me...
Lani: Well, this is the fun part of that play. The climax! I'll play Jocasta, and you'll play the king since you're the gigantic one. Let's wear our costumes!
Jess: Seriously? You will hang yourself?
Lani: Let's gowwr..
