But on a neutral's perspective nakakatuwang manood ng City games ngayon; it's like them taking the next step. They're FM 2011 personified . I'll be watching City and Arsenal very intently this season.

Fabregas to say adios to Arsenal... and he could make Barca debut against United!

Cesc Fabregas will reject Arsene Wenger's last-ditch pleas to stay with Arsenal this week in an effort to finally land his dream move to Barcelona in time for the Spanish club's US tour.

The duo were due to meet on Monday and the manager will spend the rest of the week trying to convince his captain to stick with the Gunners.

But Fabregas's resolve to finally complete a move to his boyhood club is stronger than ever and he is determined to rebuff Wenger's hopeful advances.

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola wants the signing of Fabregas wrapped up in time for the midfielder to make a sensational debut against Manchester United a week on Sunday.

The Spanish giants set off for their pre-season tour of America - which includes a friendly against Sir Alex Ferguson's side in Washington - next week and Guardiola wants Fabregas on board in time for the Arsenal midfielder to be included in the trip.

Wenger is keen on including the Spain international in his squad that travels to Germany to face Cologne in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

However, it is understood Fabregas would rather stay in England as he looks to force through a move to Barcelona.

The Gunners first-team resume pre-season training at the club's London Colney training complex today after returning from the tour of Asia on Sunday morning.

Fabregas missed the tour due to a hamstring injury and Wenger will decide on Thursday whether to include Fabregas in his squad to travel to Germany.

Having already had two bids of £27million and £31m rejected, Barcelona's unwillingness to fork out the extra £4m it would take for Arsenal to part with Fabregas remains the key stumbling block.

The European champions are struggling to finance moves for Fabregas and Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez.

Sportsmail understands that Barca's move for Sanchez has hit a snag due to the Spanish club's inability to pay the first £5million instalment of the proposed £31million fee.

But Guardiola has told the club's president, Sandro Rosell, that Fabregas remains his top priority this summer.

Gervinho finally rubber-stamped his £10.6million move Lille yesterday and said upon his arrival: 'When you are young, you always want to improve, to work with great managers and Arsene Wenger is one of the best in the world.

'I know English football is harder and I might need a bit of time to start but ultimately it is down to me to raise my game and adapt.' Wenger is close to adding Costa Rican forward, Joel Campbell, 19, to the capture of Gervinho and Carl Jenkinson from Charlton within the next few days.

One player who is leaving the Emirates - as revealed by Sportsmail in April - is Denilson, who is set to join Brazilian club Sao Paulo.

He said: 'I move away with sadness because I have so many friends at Arsenal and everyone has always been so supportive towards me.

'I want to say thank you to the club, and of course, also a big thank you to all the Arsenal fans who are very special.'
