I got this from another website as well;
Airbus finalizing first ever deal with Arkia Airlines
sourceOther orders that Airbus hopes to disclose this week are one from Philippine Airlines, to increase its fleet of Airbus A330 long-range planes. Philippine Airlines did not respond to a request for comment.
^^
I thought what APX will get are the A333s from PR? or RSA might have changed his mind and decided to get brand new A333s/A332s for APX? Hope all these materializes and looking forward to the announcement. Hope RSA goes for the 787s and the 748is. He's announced before that he wants the Dreamliner and the Intercontinental for PRs fleet and will enter service on 2015(?).
I think they feel the present PR 330s, given their ages, would be too expensive to maintain and would be nearing their lifeline's end. At least if they are brand new, they can select new engine options.
I hope they announce orders for the Dreamliner too, I am still hopeful though for the Intercontinental though I do see them as a dark horse. I would be happy with a multiple fleet of 777s and 787s. Much cost friendly to maintain and more flexibility when it comes to frequencies, routes, and destinations.

Stretched potential for Boeing 777
Even as its 1000th 777 rolled off the line on Friday 2 March, Boeing was working on its blueprints for the next generation of its hugely successful twinjet.
The airframer is now advancing towards a probable late-2012 launch of a conceptual 777X family that the company's internal assessments tout as the most efficient commercial aircraft ever developed.
Boeing spent 2010 and 2011 honing its concept for the three-member 777X-family aircraft as a competitive response to the larger Airbus A350-900 and -1000. Boeing envisages the concept's firm configuration being established in 2015, flying in late 2017 or 2018 and entering service by 2019.
"We're working towards being in a position toward the end of this year to talk to our board. That's assuming the business case closes, that's assuming the technical trades are ones that close," says Boeing Commercial Airplanes chief executive Jim Albaugh.

Is it true that PAL is planning on buying a regional airline under Cat 1 so that the newly acquired planes will be used for US flights and to add more US destinations?
Airbus offers longer-range A330 with increased payload
New 240 tonne takeoff-weight capability extends A330’s market coverage
9 July 2012 Press Release
Airbus has decided to offer a further enhanced version of the popular A330 airliner by increasing the maximum takeoff weight capability to 240 metric tonnes. This 240 tonne capability will be first applied to the larger A330-300 model and subsequently to the A330-200 and A330-200F
The respective performance improvements are as follows: The 240 tonne A330-300 will benefit from up to 400nm extra range – to 5,950nm (11,020km) – with 300 passengers and carry nearly five tonnes more payload than today’s 235 tonne aircraft. Meanwhile, the new 240 tonne A330-200 will fly up to 270nm further – to 7,050nm (13,060km) – with 246 passengers and carry over 2.5 tonnes more payload than today’s 238 tonne A330-200. The two models will also bring increased fuel efficiency thanks to aerodynamic refinements and engine enhancements. Entry into service of the 240 tonne A330-300 is aimed for mid 2015.
In practical terms 240 tonne capability significantly extends the market coverage of the A330 Family. For example, this newest A330-300 will now be able to connect to the following new city pairs: London to Tokyo; Frankfurt to Cape Town; Beijing to Melbourne; Beijing to San Francisco; Kuala Lumpur to Paris; and Los Angeles to Dublin. Moreover, compared with the original 212 tonne A330-300 in 1992, the 240 tonne A330-300 can fly 2,000nm (3,700km) further and now cover 90 percent of the market from Heathrow – up 51 percent from 39 percent market coverage at original EIS.
“The A330 has come a long way in the last 10 years, and we are delighted to bring to more airlines the advantages and reliability of A330 economics over ever wider markets,” says John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer Customers of Airbus. “This aircraft is the most popular aircraft ever in its category and looks set to hold this position for years to come.”

Looks like Boeing and Airbus is wrapping up at Farnborough without any orders from PAL.
Had the sad experience of flying RP-C8168 SFO-MNL on PR-105 today. There was a technical problem on one of the other 744s so they used 8168. Its sad that our excellent pilots and cabin crew have to keep apologizing for aircraft deficiencies: limited video, hot and cold aircon, defective Mabuhay class seats, generally old airplane. How can we be proud of our airline and "Fly the Flag" when we have keep apologizing for deficiencies?
PAL better do something to make us look forward to something. It does not seem worth maintaining Premier Elite status until we see light at the end of the tunnel.
I 101% agree with you. Well I guess RSA is doing something, but since they just took over last March and they are just basically on their 4th month, maybe it may take some more time to see the real effects.
What I feel is the only reason we can't get rid of ocho ocho is because of cat 2. So yes, CAAP again has contributed to the devastating effect. Those T7s can take the place of ocho ocho. I hope once we attain cat 1, PAL gets rid of ocho ocho first thing first and to fly those T7s right away to the US.
On the other hand, I betcha those flying MNL-YVR-MNL, MNL-NRT-MNL and now MNL-MEL-SYD-MNL are giving PAL good ratings.
After Puerto Princesa to Davao, Cebu Pacific now just started offering Puerto Princesa to Iloilo. Yehesss.
More routes please! I'm on my last year here in Puerto Princesa and I hope they'll mount more flights that will connect PPS to other airports. What airport do you think will have enough market going to PPS?
