    X-Men: First Class' Sequel

X-Men: First Class Sequel Brings Back Writer Simon Kinberg

Simon Kinberg has been hired by Fox to pen the highly anticipated X-Men: First Class sequel.

The writer has been involved with a wide range of action films, scripting XXX: State of the Union, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and the original Sherlock Holmes. He also is involved with upcoming high profile pictures This Means War and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The X-Men: First Class Sequel is still in early development, but Matthew Vaughn is expected to direct the project and the original cast of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones and Jennifer Lawrence are expected to return.

We'll bring you more details as they unfold.

X-Men: First Class was released June 3rd, 2011 and stars James McAvoy, Laurence Belcher, Michael Fassbender, Bill Milner, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Beth Goddard. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

X-Men: First Class Sequel comes to theaters in 2013 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence.

X-Men: First Class Sequel to Revolve Around Magneto

Magneto to take center stage in X-Men: First Class Sequel
The best time to get superhero updates is while any key member of the production team is out promoting one of their other projects. That was the case with Simon Kinberg, who penned this weekend's This Means War. While trying to sell that romantic adventure to the masses, he also slipped in a few asides about his next writing/producing job, the X-Men: First Class Sequel.

What did he reveal? For starters, he hinted that there will be a lot more Magneto, as played by the great Michael Fassbender, this time around. In fact, this follow-up to X-Men: First Class will be quite Magneto top-heavy.

"I'm a huge X-Men fan. I grew up loving the comic books and it was really exciting to be able to do the origin story of Xavier and Magneto, and getting those two actors, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, were really amazing. So being able to explore those characters with actors of that quality will be exciting a second time around, and doing some things unexpected with those characters, which is the plan.

That's what was so cool about the first one and what we want to continue. Magneto becomes the villain ultimately of the franchise but he's a much more complicated character as a young man. He's someone you sympathize with, you care about and you root for even though you might not necessarily agree with his methods, you understand his philosophy.

The truth is ultimately that because Michael is such an interesting actor, he'll never be full-on anything. He'll have a villainous side and he'll have a sympathetic human side you'll be able to relate but you'll also be afraid of him. He becomes Magneto, he says 'Call me Magneto' at the end of the first movie."

'X-Men: First Class' Sequel Shoots in January to Avoid 'Catching Fire'
    by Ethan Anderton
    April 6, 2012
    Source: Heat Vision

Earlier this week, there were worries that some tense negotiations with director Gary Ross could affect the release date for Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games. This is important, because in that same story (which has now been updated with Ross leaving the new successful franchise), it was also revealed that a delay could also be caused by Fox's option to bring star Jennifer Lawrence in to reprise her role of Mystique in the developing sequel to X-Men: First Class, a deal which trumps Lionsgate's option to bring her back for Catching Fire. Thankfully, it sounds like any conflict has been avoided in scheduling.

Heat Vision reports Fox has scheduled the X-Men: First Class sequel to shoot in January, which would allow Lionsgate to shoot Catching Fire in August or September as they were already planning. Initially, the deal for Lawrence to star in The Hungers Games had a hold on Lawrence for seven months, which means she wouldn't be able to star in any other films during that time, but that was dropped after several complaints from other studios like Fox. With Lionsgate looking to find a new director for Catching Fire, it sounds like the X-Men: First Class sequel will have Lawrence busy before picking up a bow and arrow again.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel to Shoot in January to Avoid Scheduling Conflicts for Jennifer Lawrence

The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, will shoot with Lawrence this fall; after that, she will film the sequel to X-Men: First Class the following January.

Although the studios have managed to get along this time around, if another Hunger Games project interferes with a 20th Century Fox film which involves Lawrence, Fox can exercise the option on the young stars contract.

Matthew Vaughn, the director of X-Men: First Class, doesnt share Ross worries as Vaughn will be returning to helm his own sequel. Written by Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes), the sequel may pick up with the assassination of JFK, according to an interview with Vaughn last year.

Nice, can't wait for this sequel...

Sana mag pick-up ang story right after sa 1st Class. I like the idea ng isang poster dito. Mas mabuti kung Brotherhood of Evil muna then Sinister.

Gusto ko sana makita natin yung mga character dati, like Bishop or Cable, Scarletwitch, Quick Silver. Kaya lang mukhang impossible pa ata to kasing the period is like 40-30 years ago.

Sana lang, ma establish na ang X-Mansion noh?

'X-Men: First Class sequel set on july 18, 2014

Ironically, some of us were just having this conversation this morning. Would 20th Century Fox rush its "X-Men: First Class" sequel into production like they did in 2010 for its 2011 release (there was about an eight-month window to shoot and edit the picture and the film suffered because of it, but miraculously wasn't a total disaster)? The answer, thankfully, is no. Fox has set July 18, 2014 as the release date for their untitled sequel to "X-Men: First Class." Original director Matthew Vaughn will be on board once again with all of the original cast, including Micheal Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and many more (they all signed multi-picture deals after all). That should give them plenty of time to write a proper screenplay and not a mediocre one that the cast has to elevate (which was the case with the original).

2014 pa? excited nako. Action-packed dapat tulad ng Avengers. Dapat mamaximize nila yung abilities ng bawat mutant. Sana may Danger Room scene. Ibalik din s Ellen Page as Shadowcat.

The sequel should have Dazzler as the next mutant to be featured, especially if the next story will be set in the 1970s disco era.

'X-Men: First Class' Sequel Will Feature More Michael Fassbender

Now that Comic-Con is behind us, what do comic book junkies have to look forward to? Well, according to Collider, the answer is the X-Men: First Class sequel which will include the back story of Michael Fassbender's character, Magneto.

In an interview with the film's writer/producer Simon Kinberg, new details emerged about the comic book flick he calls "the most guarded state secret I've ever been around."

The plan for the sequel which he says "is unlike the other X-Men movies" is to do some unexpected things with Xavier and Magneto. In February he told MTV, "Magneto becomes the villain ultimately of the franchise but he's a much more complicated character as a young man. He's someone you sympathize with, you care about, you root for even though you might not necessarily agree with his methods, you understand his philosophy."

In the new movie, Magneto will have "a villainous side and he'll have a sympathetic human side. You'll be able to relate, but you'll also be afraid of him."

Kinberg has been working closely with director Matthew Vaughn and producer Jane Goldman on the script and they "hope to begin shooting in spring of next year to come out in July of 2014."

X-Men: First Class Sequel Title Confirmed To Be X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Straight from Russia, the website Film Business Today has confirmed that the sequel to X-Men: First Class will be X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Rumors about the title began last month when Fox registered the name Days of Future Past with the MPAA. At that time, it wasnt known if the title would be for the sequel of X-Men: First Class or not. Now it seems our Russian friends have made the confirmation.

Fans of the X-Men comic series will undoubtedly recognize the title as it is from the Uncanny X-Men comic book storyline written in 1981 by legendary X-Men writer/artist team Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The storyline involves the X-Men trying to stop the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants led by Mystique from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly, a known anti-mutant political figure. When they fail, the event creates a timeline where Sentinels rule the US and mutants are hunted and placed in internment camps. The present day X-Men are forewarned by this possible timeline from future X-Men Kitty Pryde but despite the current X-Men succeeding in stopping the assassination, the dystopian future still exists as an alternate timeline rather than the true actual future.

Fox Studios has always envisioned X-Men: First Class as the first of a trilogy. Scribe Simon Kinberg (who wrote X-Men: The Last Stand and co-produced X-Men: First Class) is currently writing the sequel with director Matthew Vaughn and his longtime collaborator Jane Goldman (Kick-***, The Woman in Black). Bryan Singer will return as co-producer on the film.

Many fans are pleased with the path that this sequel is going on as it may be able to bridge the inconsistencies and continuation problems that X-men: First Class had with the original X-Men trilogies. It will also be very interesting to see how Kinberg et al will bridge the two movies and how close to the comic the story will be.
