It's the same with restaurants here. The server will ask if you're doing okay or how do you find the food and if you need anything else. Pero once lang tapos back to regular programming ka na ulit. I mean, that's fine with me. Yun talaga ata ang standard.

Yung sa mga department store naman pagdating ko, papabayaan kang magtingin-tingin and then the salesclerk will ask if I need help with anything. Kung me sale sila sasabihin tapos sasabihin na just call her if I need help.

Speak up people!

And learn how to ask nicely, huwag yung kada bukas ng bibig mo e katarayan na maiisip ng kausap mo.

That happened to my balikbayan friend. She fainted while in SM Makati, she was treated in the clinic there then brought to Makati Med.

Good point. I myself don't have a problem telling them that. It does happen however (personal experience) that
    (1) after you've told them that, they'll continue making suggestions, OR
    (2) after they've left (or after five steps to a different merchandise display), another employee takes their place and makes suggestions.

I think what some people here are doing is they're making an argument on what the default behavior of these employees should be: be visible, but approach only when asked.

    kensamor
, kahit standard pa siya, I really think dapat mabago yung standard na yun, ako kasi yung taong I value my quality time pag magkakasama kami ng pamilya or with my husband on a date.

and everytime gusto kong sabihin "So, pinuputol mo ang kwentuhan namin, hindi kita kailangan, why bother ask?"

Maniac mode kumbaga

Anyway, this may seem off topic but it is kinda related:

Ten rude things waiters do to you

-Not pay attention to you when you need help, like when you need a refill of your water glass after you eat something spicy. In my view, unless otherwise noted or told to the customer, a waiter should always keep an eye on the customer in case the customer looks up and around for their waiter. Other waiters should heed to such body language by either helping or by letting the original waiter know about the desperate gazes of the needy, and probably hungry or thirsty, customer.

    - Ask questions while food is in our mouth. This is another tactic used by waiters. When your mouth is full, you may say anything to tell the waiter to get lost so you can chomp down your food, including “Yes, it’s good.” That is why you are always asked a bit-pointed questions. You are asked “Is everything ok?” instead of “I see that your mouth is burning. Is the food too hot?” or “I see that my questions are resulting in your mouth opening so strangely that the teriyaki chicken is falling onto the ground. Should I stop asking you questions till your plate is empty or till you tell me to reappear after disappearing?“

    - Giving you too much attention, including asking you about the food or service or your needs and talking to you a lot while you try to focus on eating or while you try to talk to the people you came with.

Really? Waiter yan hindi air traffic controller. That's just asking too much service from a minumum wage worker. If you ate something spicy and you suddenly are in need of water, ask for water.

Speaking of SM and water, nakwento sa kin ng friend ko who used to work for SM (corporate office siya), na ang SM doesn't provide free drinking water sa mga employees, kahit man lang fountain or water dispenser wala. At may monopoly sila sa drinking water. Employees can only buy that sm bottled water. Bawal silang magdala ng sariling bottled water or thermos.

Funny you mentioned "nakakasira ng diskarte". Parang may intensiyong mangshoplift.

tatang Henry's greed is clearly overshadowed by the overwhelming employment opportunities he has had been creating in various sectors
