^Well, I was not saying na hindi commercialized yung GMA films. I don't care about these two film companies naman eh. But I must say na mas magiging blockbuster naman talaga ang star cinema kasi mas kilala sila kahit na sa provincial areas.
It's just that, it's not good to say in advance na flop ang isang movie just to compare this to those blockbuster movies.
Puro sikat na artista ang mga nasa GMA FILMS na THE ROAD, I'm sure panonoorin ito ng kanilang mga fans
gusto kong genre: horror
gusto kong klaseng plot: non linear narrative
gusto kong director: yam laranas
susme!
THE ROAD = JACKPOT!!!
can't wait for next week!!!![]()
Cast and director of THE ROAD
I am not sure if your being truthful or sarcastic in your statement.
Anyway given the length of exposure and so-called marketing by GMA on this film I hoping it pays off because they are definitely eons away in terms of returns from the movies they produce or co-produce compared to Star Cinema plus given the fact Star Cinema releases 1-2 movies a month.
Goodluck on this movie and I think you need all of it.![]()
mukhang maganda to...
Kapatid Sharon Cuneta is watching the VIP special screening of the movie now.
Share ko lang, a review from twitter

Direct @yamlaranas this is my review of #theroad @TheRoadGMAFilms @smcinema_mega @whianwamos @marvin_agustin @minavillarroel #impressive
Last night I watched the Premier of #TheRoad. I thought it was the International movie The Road directed by John Hillcoat.I was sooo WRONG and kinda disappointed when I got to know that it was a Tagalog film. I was like "uwi na tau mode and willing to giveaway my tix, but my sister said."were here already" so un, wala ako nagawa. I am not a fan of tagalog films. Despite of my disappointment I still stay in the line, watching artists of GMA coming (na hindi ko naman po mga kilala, 5 lang sa kanila ang kilala ko, kc hindi ako nakakapanood ng channel 7.) fans were cheering, while me and my sister were just listening to the music on our phones. OP (out of place) kami... hehehe.. When all the stars came, magstart na ang movie... oh my! nagkakagulo ang mga fans at scalpers ng tickets, kc kahit walang ticket eh nakapila,nag-uunahan makapasok eh lahat naman makakapasok, sabi pa nga ng guard *** mga walang ticket eh wag makipagsiksikan kc makakapasok din sila...when were in line to enter the theatre may mga ate at kuya na namimigay ng poster at pamaypay, nung ibibigay na sakin *** 2 posters,, i hanged for a moment and said.. "No ate, thank u" in a nice way,,kc san ko naman ilalagay un sa bahay namin, nakakatakot kaya *** nasa poster.
Inside the theatre: oh my! ang mga fans walang ginawa kundi sumigaw kahit nagstart na ang movie eh nagsisigawan pa din....PERO HINDI NAMAN LAHAT,BEHAVE NAMAN *** IBANG FANS. (pero ganun naman ***** talaga, kaya nga fans eh) sa mga fans don't get angry about this post kc based lang to sa nakita ko last night, nabangga pa nga kami, hindi man lang nagsorry kahit nakita nya na tumalsik *** headseat sa lakas ng pagkabangga nya, napailing na lang *** mabait na guard near us.. haaaayyy!!! totoo lang ang nakasulat dito.
THE MOVIE: THE ROAD!
I salute the director of this film Dir. Yam Laranas. GALING!! Dahil sa film na to nakagawa ako ng ganitong review, (my very first review ever).. Actually until now I'm scared pa rin...
In short It's a great horror movie of 2011 for me. 2 Thumbs UP!
Sorry sa mga error ko!

I found one blog review:
Movie Review: The Road
I was expecting to be scared.

THE ROAD (kanto film review)
Tonight, I have witnessed a horror movie that is not scary, but spine chilling.
To get you familiarize with the story, The Road is about a twelve-year-old cold case, which is reopened when three teenagers go missing while traversing an infamous and abandoned road. As investigators try to find leads to the whereabouts of the missing teens, they also unearth the road’s gruesome past that spans two decades – a history of abduction, crimes and murders. Although the road is isolated, anyone who tries to pass through it can be sure that he is not alone. Lingering in the dark and desolate pathway is a vengeful ghost who makes sure no one leaves the road – alive.
What I like about this movie is really the story. Its unexpected, very close to reality and not the typical type of mainstream horror movies we've seen here in the Philippines. For me, its more of a think movie rather than a scream fest film, which I think we Filipinos MUST start appreciating.
I also like the fact that Yam Laranas, the Director, did not tolerate the tweetum <did I spelled that right> image of the young actors Barbie Forteza, Louise delos Reyes and Derrick Monasterio. Rhian Ramos portrayed her role excellently. Although, Alden Richards lack the skills for his role, his attempt to portray it is impressive.
The thing that really intrigues me in this movie, is the character concept. The movie is definitely a clear reflection of Karma and what is happening here in the Philippines. I feel like Mr. Laranas and Aloy Adlawan, (screenplay), provided answer to why there is long impunity in this country. And that’s how it becomes spine chilling for me. I think they did not just want to tell a story, but they wish to deliver a message “that no one can escape sin”.
Finally, GMA films is back in producing movies that has social relevance like Deathrow, Muro Ami etc.
The road will hit the big screen nationwide beginning November 30, 2011

Diving in head first watching director Yam Laranas' new flick THE ROAD, I knew a little about the plot of the film and watching it was an exciting and haunting experience. I'm going to try and do this Spoiler Free because this is a special movie that the audience needs to experience from beginning to end, without me giving too much away.
The movie centers around missing people and an old road in the Philippines that has been boarded up and closed. The story spans over a twelve year period and slowly solves this dark mystery as we watch it unfold. Two sisters go missing in the beginning and the case is never solved. Fast forward and we get three teenagers who go down this road and witness some strange things and also come up missing. As people look for them and the movie slowly goes along we get questions answered that we asked in the very beginning plus a few startling surprises.
This ghost story is one built on tragedy, heart break, suffering and even surprise. The story is solid, Larans' hand is all over this film and it completely shows his raw talent. Lighting always helps make a movie and in this case it almost plays a character, especially when you're dealing with ghosts in this dark setting! All of the acting is excellent and even the score fits right in and helps make The Road what it is, a near perfect thriller. One thing I look at when watching a movie is if I could watch it again and with The Road it's a definite yes! Laranas is a great story teller!
Bottom line is, director Yam Laranas is a director to keep a close eye on. He's a great story teller that has delivered a dark, haunting atmospheric film with The Road. This is one of the best ghost stories I've seen! 4/5
