    GMA FILMS: HIT OR MISS

    Published : Monday, May 28, 2012
    Written by : Joey Aquino

GMA Films seems to be on a hit or miss trending.

They have produced some worth-seeing films especially during its early years.

Except for “The Road” in the recent years, the film arm of GMA Network doesn’t seem to be consistently making good films, even its co-production ventures, than it used to do. Their rom-coms, especially those starred in by their so-called tween stars don’t seem to make the grade. Their current production, starring Elmo Magalona and Julie Anne San Jose, hasn’t received much positive reaction either from writers or fans.

Maybe it’s high time for them to take better advisers.

Or filmmakers who have better insights on how commercially viable films are made.

Or don’t they know that two heads are better than one? Just asking…

ive just seen the road. maganda yung cinematography, yung lighting and color nya maganda rin. but the whole movie is boring, most of the times para kang nanonood ng silent film! pero ok yung story nya but really dragging! siguro kung ira-rate ko 5/10. i dont understand the fuss and buzz about this movie! movie is really overrated! maganda pa yung sigaw!

Sarangani Province Representative and Pound-for-Pound King Manny Pacquiao poses with Yam Laranas and Rhian Ramos
The stars of GMA Films' The Road walked the red carpet at the majestic Arclight Theater in Los Angeles, California last May 9, 2012. The premiere was attended by Marvin Agustin, Rhian Ramos, Alden Richards, and Derrick Monasterio together with GMA Films President Anna Teresa Gozon-Abrogar, Freestyle Presidents Susan Jackson and Mark Borde, GMA Films Project Director Joey Abacan, and the film's director Yam Laranas.
