Almost exactly three years ago, on 2nd of August 2007, SNSD released their debut single: “Into the New World”. Who would’ve thought that they would literally literally take us into the whole new world?
You know, the world where the word “mushroom” is no longer merely a type of fungus, or where the word “genie” is not the magical spirit who grants wishes of its beholder? All these words that once you go into the SoShi world, they’d have a whole different meaning. In the spirit of SNSD’s 3rd anniversary which only couple days away, we tried to compile these words into a SoShi-dictionary! Go check it out~
Aegyo – 1) Cutesy act that mostly done by making cute baby-like voice. 2) The thing which Sunny excels at; she would be so cute that you’d like to punch her… affectionately. 3) The thing which Choi Sooyoung excels at; she would be so cute that a wood would be broken and you’d insist to take her to hospital for a checkup – just in case she ate something wrong. 4) The thing which the rest SNSD members claim to hate yet they equally possess explosive amount of it.
Alligator – a large, hard-skinned reptile that can open its mouth as wide as Im Yoona when she laughs.
Amajjing – the word that Kim Taeyeon used to express her amazement.
Black Pearl [Korean: heukjinjoo] – Kwon Yuri.
Non-S?NE: Hey do you know Black Pearl is making a comeback after the long hiatus?
S?NE: What? But Kwon Yuri never leaves…
Non-S?NE: Gee, you’re such a S?NE! I’m talking about the 4-member girl group Black Pearl who also debuted in 2007!
Bug – [Korean: bulle] insects which Tiffany Hwang despises, hence the Operation SUBSTRACT.
Byuntae – Korean for “pervert”, it’s not a coincidence that the word is highly associated with the acclaimed pervert Kim Taeyeon, thus coined the term ‘ByunTaeng’. The word “byuntae” is also often associated with the others SNSD members for their highly suspicious actions.
Butt – [Korean: eongdungee] the body part which is Kim Taeyeon’s favorite weakness. SEE ALSO: Byuntae.
Chocolate – 1) A type of love. 2) One of the best shows in Soshi history.
Choding – Korean slang for “elementary-school kids” which are Kim Hyoyeon and Im Yoona; can also be applied for Kim Taeyeon and Lee Sunny since they’re as tall as elementary school kids.
Cucumber – [Korean: oh-ee] a long, thin, green vegetable which Jessica Jung despises; thus the war declaration against it.
Dancing Queen – Kim Hyoyeon.
Danshin – 1) Vertically challenged. 2) Kim Taeyeon and Lee Sunny, who get called short just because “the others are abnormally taller” than the two. 2) Jessica Jung, Kim Hyoyeon, and at times Tiffany Hwang when the three of them couldn’t deny that they’re indeed belong to this team.
Deer – Im Yoona. Technically it supposed to be a “doe”, but still.
Eye Smile – 1) Tiffany’s ability to melt your heart. Other members with high proficiency in this skill: Sunny
Devil- 1) Super playboy that fools around. 2) The one that better run run run for messing with the girls.
Forever – The word that comes up every time the girls are asked about how long they think SNSD will last.
Gee – 1) The title of SNSD’s epic mega-hit song from their 1st mini-album, released in January 7, 2009. 2) An expression of surprise, enthusiasm, annoyance which “commonly used in the US of America”. 3) Vintage t-shirts and (usually colorful) skinny jeans.
Genie – 1) Military-themed outfits. 2) Nine pairs of flawless legs. 3) Hacky sack dance. 4) Alternate / English title for SNSD’s single “??? ??? (Tell Me Your Wish)” which was released digitally on June 22, 2009.

Gorjess – The word that describes the beauty and attractiveness of Jessica Jung.
Hwaitaeng - Taengoo’s version of Hwaiting!
Ice Princess – 1) Jessica Jung. 2) According to Kwon Yuri though, Jessica is now a warm ice princess. In other words, the ice has melted.
Insole – [Korean: kkalchang]. A piece of material that you put in a shoe to make the Danshins (namely Sunny, Taeyeon, Jessica, Hyoyeon, and often Tiffany) looks taller than their average height of 155 cm.
Jangshin – Vertically gifted people who born with long, slender legs; namely Kwon Yuri, Choi Sooyoung, Im Yoona, and Seo Juhyun. Responsible for bringing up the average height of SNSD.

okay...how i became a sone.
a friend of mine kept on insisting that i watch WGM Yongseo. at first i was like "wtf? no waay! not watching that sh*t.><" (LOL! yeah i said that T-T) but my friend just kept insisting (he was my crush before, so yeah....) so i watched it later that night. i watched 1 episode then when i found out about Seohyun's crazy and adorable personality like putting on seatbelt, reading self-improvement books, etc. i WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED! like her image is completely opposite from her characteristic! i thought Girls' Generation were divas and.....b*tches. T-T then on the show they kept mentioning the songs "Tell Me Your Wish" and "Oh!" and i was like "why the heck do they keep mentioning these songs? why not Nobody?" (yeap i thought Nobody was by SNSD T-T omg.) so from the show i watched their MVs. then from MVs i watched their funny clips. i completely fell in love with yoong when i saw those clips from Happy Shares, esp. the part where they made Yul a decoy so that Yoong could eat. (Yoong was so cute there! OMFG!!! @#($*@(#*$@()#!) anyway, then i found these buncha clips from Hello Baby so i watched Hello Baby from epi 1 to 16 (the eff.>< i need to find subbed epi 17+ T-T) at first i was all "they all look the saaammmme!!!" but! with constant research and studying i familiarized their faces and names. AND! i finally knew i was IN this fandom when one morning, the minute i woke up, Run Devil Run was playing in my head and! i quickly turned my pc on to check SNSD site. T-T so yeaah, i knew i was a Sone. at first i was like "this is just a phase. -_- i'll get over this obsession." but here i am now....5 months and i'm still crazy over these girls.

my friends and i went out to celebrate my birthday and when i got home, i dont want to succumb to my bed yet so i decided to watch tv. as i was browsing the channels, i stumbled upon kbs world: star golden bell idol special with snsd, 2pm, shinee and kara
that time, i only know a little about kpop. i do recognize the name of the groups participating but im not quite familiar with their songs, much more to their members.
then i saw snsd. i am only familiar with them because of the comments i've seen in the yt vids of another girl group (take note: bad comments). for me they are "the girls who like flipping their legs in their army uniforms".
this girl made me really laugh to hard ^__* i was rolling in my bed because i cannot contain my laughter ^__* almost choked myself hehe
heck! *pls try not to throw some tomatoes at me* "i was like, seriously?! that was like a dumb blonde moment" *dont hate me people*
despite my harsh words....i dont know......after that night..... curiosity got the better of me......i started searching for their vids......i stumbled upon "intimate note" and whoa, again, i found myself laughing so darn hard ^__* this girls are hilarious and they are not afraid to show their not so perfect sides hehe to think that they are idols haha

One day, I was chatting with my friends (we were in a confe that time). Friend A (a Kpop fan since Sept. of last year) and Friend B (newbie kpop fan and Hyoyeon biased at that time) were talking about a certain Kpop girl group that night (which is SNSD). Nagkaruon sila ng debate that time kung maganda ba si Kim Hyoyeon. Friend B kept on defending Hyoyeon (pinagdidiinan niya kay Friend A na maganda nga si Hyo) while tong si Friend A naman sagot ng (Oo maganda nga. Pero mas maganda siya dati kesa ngayon) Then Friend A said tanungin daw nila ako. Friend A gave me a link (I forgot what video) then sabi ko 'maganda naman siya ah' Then na-curious ako sa kanya, coz she looks like Song Hye Kyo (my favorite Korean actress by the way LOL) I started to watch SNSD videos (Variety shows) then nalaman ko na hindi lang pala sila magaganda kundi nakakatuwa din. Tawang tawa ako sa mga variety show guestings nila. First bias ko was Kim Hyoyeon, then naging si Jessica Jung. Then napunta naman ako kay Choi Sooyoung. Pero tulad din ng karamihan sa inyo, struggle din for me mga itsura nila. "magkakamukha" din sila sa mga mata ko at first. Dati sila Sooyoung, Hyoyeon tsaka Soonkyu lang yung isang tingin palang alam ko na sila agad yun.Yung iba grabe struggle to the max. Hahaha! Lalo na sila Seohyun, Yuri at Yoona. After 3 straight days (ata?) na panunuod ng mga videos nila familiar na ako sa mga itsura nilang siyam. I became a SONE, April 3. 2010 (officially) that was also the night my friend introduced kpop to me. I'm a proud SONE for 7months now.

YOONYUL ang nakakuha ng atensiyon ko that time, kaya lang di ko maintindihan, basta nakalagay lang Gee and Girls Generation, nalito pa nga ako kung alin ang title dun sa dalawa, pero nakalimutan ko din sila, months ang lumipas nang biglang nagbago ulit ang buhay ko, i was browsing a forum site here in phils, not like PEx, karamihan IT

so pinuntahan ko, read some pages, at wow talagang mga SNSD fanboys!! lots of pictures, links of their perf and MVs, so i joined the thread(up to now im still a proud member) at tuloy tuloy na, watching "Hello Baby" episodes makes me fall inlove with SNSD lalo! mula nun i started downloading their guestings, perf, and music videos in HD!! at ito nga nagjoin ako sa PEx at mas lalo pa kong naadik sa SNSD hehe.. i have at least 60gb of SNSD files on my PC!! Im a proud Sone for more than a year.. yay!!!!

Sone story ko..
Naalala ko naglilipat lang ako ng channel nang bigla ko silang makita sa Channel V and na-love at first sight kami ng brother ko sa kanila nung nakita namin yung TMYW nung 2nd week ng Oct. 2009 kaya ako naging Sone. Gandang ganda kami sa kanila and sobrang natuwa kami sa choreo and ang cute nga ng song. (Si Yuri and Taeyeon pa nga yung 1st napansin ko sa kanila). Nung time na yun kasi super sikat ng nobody and fire dito sa Manila pero wala silang dating sa ‘kin and di ko ma-gets bat ganon na lang pagkagusto ng mga tao and di ko akalain na magkaka-interest din ako sa K-pop gawa ng SNSD. Inabangan ko ulit yung video nila sa Channel V tas nag-start na ko magtingin ng mga live performance ng TMYW sa youtube, nagulat ako kasi luma na pala yun and mas popular pa pala yung Gee e mas type ko naman di hamak yung Genie.
Tas ayun, mga short funny clips nila yung una kong napanuod and lalo akong natuwa sa kanila kaya naghanap pa ko ng mga videos and eventually na-discover ko na yung mga variety shows nila and the rest is history na nga. Isa sa favorite show ko siguro yung Intimate note nila, super laughtrip kasi ng laglagan nila don and fave ko yung Chocolate performance nila (Womanizer, Hollaback girl, My love, Laarbasses). Wala akong idea na sila pala yung no. 1 girl group sa Korea basta alam ko love ko sila. Siguro looks nila kaya ko sila unang napansin tas nagustuhan ko sila since super talented nila pero personalities pa din nila kaya ko sila minahal ng sobra.
Very thankful nga din ako sa SNSD kasi nung Oct. 2009 e medyo depression period yun sa' kin, down talaga ko and sila yung naging source of happiness ko nung time na yun. Buti na lang talaga andyan sila kundi baka naloka na ko. LOL Lam ko ang corny pakinggan pero sila lang talaga yung naging buhay ko and sa kanila lang umiikot mundo ko. And hanggang ngayon, ganon pa din ako and mas lalo ko lang sila nala-love. Every time may not so good incident e manunuod lang ako ng SNSD videos e feeling ko nawawala na yung problem kahit paaano and napapa-smile talaga nila ko hehehe

I wondered "How come people like SNSD so much? I only like Yuri. LOL" (Yeah Yuri was my first bias) When I got home the same day..I turned on the TV and saw SNSD was there (Happy Together). I was laughing so hard even though I didn't know who was who. LOL.Then during the Christmas Break, I decided to get to know more about so called "Girls' Generation" so watched HB.....I really liked them there. So I've researched more and liked them more. And then I've decided to be a secret SONE forever.BUT I JUST CAN'T DO IT LOL. XD So there. XD THE END.

Out of all of the princesses, Snow White is the oldest — so is Taeyeon in the group. Like Snow White, Taeyeon takes care of her dwarfs… i mean… her heigh-ho members even after their crazy schedules. As a leader, she works on her own initiative just like how Snow White cleans the house without being asked. Both have insanely white skin complexion that can blind eyes. joke. Animals love Snow White just as animalistic fans love Taengoo(lol.we’re cute as F U C K). And lastly, they have timeless seraphic voices that can soothe every generation.
Believe me, sleeping isn’t the only similarity between Aurora and Jessica. Flora and Fauna gave Aurora the gifts of beauty and song which our Jessica here have too. Aurora looks good even in peasant clothes, Jessica…well… she looks marvelous. Jessica sings lovely as well and is as mysterious as Aurora. And since the princess slept for like half of the story, she comes out as a passive type. And our Jessica is as passive as a spoiled princess. lol i love her. Both have this tantalizing kind of nobility that most of us can only spazz from afar.
Lee Sunny - Fa Mulan
If anyone looks at Mulan and Sunny from afar, they’ll initially assume them as shy delicate Asian girls…NOT! They might be small and cute but their personalities are as big as Goliath. Outspoken, funny, bold, tomboyish and sensible. They can do anything! Ride horses, shoot arrows, catch fish, run like a tiger and kick your arse, hnng, sexy. And like Mulan pretending to be a guy, Sunny acts like THE son in her estrogen-filled family. Just… don’t let them get near fireworks.lol
Tiffany Hwang - Ariel/ The Little Mermaid
Most Disney Princesses are motherless, and Ariel is one of them, in fact, Queen Athena died when Ariel was 5. Tiffany’s mother died too when she was little, but i can conclude, both of them got their angelic looks from their mamas. Ariel’s love to the human world and to Prince Eric is as passionate as Tiffany’s love for her dream. Adventurous and headstrong like a boss, Ariel would do anything in the world just to go to the surface, same with Tiffany and Korea. Both have loving fathers and are the youngest out of their siblings. These girls also have the tendencies to lose their voices, but still, they both rock my boat.
Kim Hyoyeon - Tiana
The world is cruel and as much as i hate to say it, Tiana and Hyoyeon receives the most aggression. Since Tiana’s the first African-American princess, she got critics talkin’, while Hyoyeon got haters B I T C Hin’. IDIOTS! Disney ain’t racist and Kim Hyoyeon is beautiful, and not only that she’s a hellova dancer and athlete, she’s a sweetheart, and she’s humble. Both are hardworking, both knows how to prioritize well and both are pretty stars to my sky. Tiana’s left-handed, and Hyoyeon is as well(i think she’s ambidextrous too).
Kwon Yuri - Jasmine
First glance, you probably know that both don’t have fair skin — they’re tan. Princess Jasmine is the first non-Caucasian Disney princess and Yuri is well, our Black Pearl. Full of girl power and impetuousness, Jasmine loves new adventures and it clearly shows cause she wears pants. However, Yuri’s impetuousness is more of mischievousness since she likes to prank people and act like a child, and of course… she’s hot in pants(i’d tap that). They have high self-confidence since she’s a princess and she’s a proud soshi member. Plus, both have the unf body to show abs. Mmmmhmm girl, you’re fine~ you can rub my magic lamp anytime cause i’m definitely your genie.
Choi Sooyoung - Rapunzel
Well, say hello to the very first 3D princess, Rapunzel. Sooyoung’s 3D in a sense that her stomach’s another universe and her legs are just as long as Rapunzel’s hair.loljk. This princess’ respect for her mother is as high as Sooyoung’s respect and love for her mother which is by the way, very admirable. Rapunzel’s wish for her birthday is to go out of the tower, while Sooyoung’s wish is… to have her very first birthday celebration.(and Mama Choi genie-d her wish). Rapunzel is violent cause she can use her hair as a whip and smack someone with a frying pan and Sooyoung could prolly hit you if you stand on her way.lulz. and by the end of the film Rapunzel had short hair too. omg, i’m such a spoiler. come at me bro!
Im Yoona - Cinderella
Mainly, one word can establish a good similarity between these two: POPULAR. Cinderella’s the most popular Disney Princess and Yoona’s the most popular member (most of the time). If Yoona is SNSD’s front girl or mascot, Cinderella is definitely Disney’s. Why? You know that castle at the start of every Disney film where Tinker Bell flies over to leave her pixie dust glory… yes, that’s her castle alright. what a boss. While Cinderella have two sisters loathing her, Yoona have more than 2 haters tha — nah i’ll stop. not relevant. And of course, Yoona is as hardworking as Cinderella and is as delicate-looking and is as spunky as her.
Seo Joohyun - Belle/ Beauty
Belle’s the most intelligent out of the Disney Princesses, and Seohyun is our academic and music virtuoso. They would rather read books than go chase boys and both will probably faint inside a big A S S library. If they’re not shy, they would speak their mind and everyone would stand in awe of how unusual of a girl they are. Big dreamers, they both have high ambitions but in Belle’s case, it changed after she met the Beast and she remained satisfied on how her life is. On the other hand, we watched Seobaby bloom and we saw a different side of her through WGM.(thanks to her hubby)

) so i watched it later that night. i watched 1 episode then when i found out about Seohyun's crazy and adorable personality like putting on seatbelt, reading self-improvement books, etc. i WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED! like her image is completely opposite from her characteristic! i thought Girls' Generation were divas and.....b*tches. T-T then on the show they kept mentioning the songs "Tell Me Your Wish" and "Oh!" and i was like "why the heck do they keep mentioning these songs? why not Nobody?" (yeap i thought Nobody was by SNSD T-T omg.) so from the show i watched their MVs. then from MVs i watched their funny clips. i completely fell in love with yoong when i saw those clips from Happy Shares, esp. the part where they made Yul a decoy so that Yoong could eat. (Yoong was so cute there! OMFG!!! @#($*@(#*$@()#!) anyway, then i found these buncha clips from Hello Baby so i watched Hello Baby from epi 1 to 16 (the eff.>< i need to find subbed epi 17+ T-T) at first i was all "they all look the saaammmme!!!" but! with constant research and studying i familiarized their faces and names. 
AND! i finally knew i was IN this fandom when one morning, the minute i woke up, Run Devil Run was playing in my head and! i quickly turned my pc on to check SNSD site. T-T so yeaah, i knew i was a Sone. at first i was like "this is just a phase. -_- i'll get over this obsession." but here i am now....5 months and i'm still crazy over these girls.
Pero tulad din ng karamihan sa inyo, struggle din for me mga itsura nila. "magkakamukha" din sila sa mga mata ko at first.
