EI is a different story. It's not the same as welfare from the government. We are paying Employment Insurance premiums so when we get unemployed, we will get something for a certain length of time. We get EI money because we have paid for the premiums.

For example, the sponsored person ran out of EI or never worked so walang EI na matatanggap. He can't asked for welfare from the government. It would be the job of the sponsor to support him. At least, that's what written on Family Class sponsorship. I'm not sure with the provincial nominee program but most likely, it would be similar.

As per CIC IMM1344 document for sponsorship:

    UNDERTAKING BY SPONSORSHIP AND CO-SIGNER

I undertake to provide for the basic requirements of the sponsored person and his or her family members who accompany him or her to Canada, if they are not self-supporting. I promise to provide food, clothing, shelter, fuel, utilities, household supplies, personal requirements, and other goods and services, including dental care, eye care, and other health needs not provided by public health care. I understand that the money, goods or services provided by me must be sufficient for the sponsored people to live in Canada.

I promise that the sponsored person and his or her family members will not apply for social assistance.

I make these promises so that the sponsored person and his or her family members listed on this undertaking can be admitted to Canada as permanent residents.

hello everyone!just celebrated my first year here in winnipeg.thanks to all those who helped me in this forum.

I haven't been here lately so I'm not sure if na-discuss na yung question ko. My sister is going to fix her papers as well under MPNP. And I checked the website and there's an online application available. Mas mabilis ba ito kesa sa pagsubmit ng papers the old school way?

Thanks for the help. I am currently employed now but I am planning to study para makapag-level up. May nakakaalam ba dito if EI offers support for that? I will need to resign kasi sa current job ko for that e.

What about Temporary Foreign Worker Program? I heard that a lot of kababayans were placed at Tim Horton's and other retail outlets through these program but read that only 5,000 can become permanent residents through the provincial nominee program

As far as I know, you won't get any EI benefit if you resign from work. I'm not sure if there are some exceptions but that's what I know.

Employment Insurance (EI) provides temporary financial assistance to unemployed Canadians who have lost their job through no fault of their own, while they look for work or upgrade their skills.

Canadians who are sick, pregnant, or caring for a newborn or adopted child, as well as those who must care for a family member who is seriously ill with a significant risk of death, may also be assisted by Employment Insurance.

    hxxp://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/ei/faq/faq_general.shtml#quit

Can I get EI if I quit my job?

Generally, when you voluntarily quit your job without just cause, you will not be paid regular benefits. After quitting your job, you must work the required minimum number of insurable hours to get regular benefits. However, you may still be paid maternity, parental, sickness and compassionate care benefits as long as you qualify for these benefits. To know more about EI and voluntarily leaving.

Normally, temporary workers could apply for permanent residence after two years of working inside Canada through Canadian Experience Class program. PNP could be just an alternative way for temporary workers.

Walang weight yan pagdating mo ng Canada. Kahit naipasa mo pa ang bar sa law or board exam ng medicine, it won't be honored by Canadian institutions.

Good to know Sleepless that people can apply through this method. Seems like the jobs are mainly in commodity/mining/oil but hey, that's still high paying compared to minimum wage jobs.

From the article below I though each province would be limited to 5,000 workers to sponsor.

If your applying for a fsw visa, the forms are here including a checklist:

    http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...ns/skilled.asp

If you're applying for a different visa, you can still find the forms in the same website.

There's no such thing as a specific checklist for the manila office only since their forms are standardized.

You raise a very good question. Pati ako nalito na din. Hehe! Notice both checklists' contents are quite similar. Probably no harm to include both para sigurado. Hopefully someone else can provide some clarification.

Oo nga eh. From the fsw checklist, they didnt tell na we have to include the visa office checklist. Pero from the manila visa office checklist, it says there na we have to include it with our application form. Labo. But you're right better to be sure nalang kase both are pretty much the same naman. Thanks though!

The document on that link is old. First, that website is not an official site of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The document in there was for permanent resident applicants prior to the changes in 2008. Before the changes, it was the Canadian Embassy in Manila who was processing the P.R. / immigrant applicants. That document was used during that time that is why it says - Mail or drop the form to the Canadian Embassy in Manila.

However, sometimes mid of 2008, all immigrants applicants have been handled by the centralized processing office of CIC in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Local embassies no longer handles permanent resident applicants.

If you'll check the Canadian Embassy in Manila website, you would notice that they don't offer immigration processing service.

Go to cic.gc.ca website and get the forms in there.
