Rachel Ann, John Prats six years na hindi nagpapansinan

IT’S common knowledge that Rachel Ann Go, the lead actress of the Broadway Musical Disney’s The Little Mermaid that is going to get staged here in Manila by Atlantis Productions starting November 18-December 11, 2011 at the Meralco Theatre, is having a most idyllic relationship of late with actor John Prats.

Ang hindi alam ng mga tao, six years ago pala, this was before Shaina Magdayao came into the picture, ay nililigawan na siya ni John.

“Nag-start talaga ang lahat some six years ago,” she confides in earnest.

“Medyo nagpapalipad-hangin siya but I believed it was not the right time siguro.”

In all the time that she was with ABS-CBN, di raw talaga sila nagpapansinang dalawa. “Pag may mutual friends lang kami,” she intones, “saka ko siya binibeso.

“Pero si mama, natutuwa talaga sa kanya dahil the respect has always been there.”

Suffice to say, naging okay lang daw talaga sila sometime last year.
But isn’t it quite ironic that they have become quite intimate and sweet now that she’s with GMA already?

“Mas maraming advantages actually,” she asseverates. “For one, ang dami namin napag-uusapan. Also, nami-miss namin ang isa’t isa,” ayon kay sa singer.

“‘Yung sincerity niya, I saw that now. Felt that.”

Now that they already get to see each other often, she supposedly gets to see how John really is off-cam.

“Tinadhana siguro ni God,” she says kind of emotionally, “na tipong it’s time for you guys to be happy together.”

What about her ex Gab Valenciano?

“Tapos na talaga kami,” she averts. “Respetuhin na lang siguro kung ano meron ako ngayon.”

But if there’s one thing that she truly denies with full vehemence and with all her heart, it’s the supposedly baseless rumor that she once had a most intimate kind of relationship with Kian Cipriano.

“Di po totoo ‘yan,” she stresses. “‘Yung dating road manager niya, nagro-road manager rin before sa akin,”aniya. Siyempre, sometimes, we hang out together pero hanggang ganon lang talaga.

“Kaya I was really shocked when rumors about us supposedly being that way with each other started circulating.

“That was not true. Wala talaga. Promise.”

Anyway, unbeknown to most, the real Rachel Ann is educated and quite smart.

“I took up International Business & Entreprenorship at San Beda but I wasn’t able to finish it,” she confides.

“Much later on, I enrolled again at UP taking up Associate In Arts.

“Di regular schooling ‘yun,” she informs us. “I’m given some assignment and a deadline to submit it.

“Tapos ‘yung mid-term exams, doon siyempre sa school. Pero dahil sa tapings and all my busy working scheds, I wasn’t able to finish that two-year course. Inasmuch as I went to school for two years but I didn’t have full load.”

Anyway, going back to her stage musical play with Atlantic Productions, The Little Mermaid, singing champ Erik Santos will make his professional musical theatre stage debut as the Prince.

“We can’t wait to begin,” says Mr. Bobby Garcia of Atlantic Productions. “I have known Erik since he started his career many years ago. I would say that he’s one of the most hard working and passionate performers I know. He loves what he does and he has an incredible singing voice.”

Rachelle Anne Go, bida na sa ‘The Little Mermaid’


Finally, nahanap na ng Atlantis Productions (producer ng hit musical na Next To Normal at pati na rin ng bagong show na Elton John/Tim Rice pop rock musical Aida) ang bagay na maging leading lady sa Broadway Musical Disney’s The Little Mermaid, na magsisimula sa November 18 to December 11, 2011 sa Meralco Theatre.

Well, si Rachelle Anne Go ang mapalad na nakakuha ng lead role sa show na `yon.

“Rachelle Anne possesses all the qualities of Ariel. She is spunky, adventurous, kind, generous and a dreamer. She also has one of the most beautiful voices we have heard. I am sure she will thrill audiences the way she thrilled us at auditions,” sabi ni direk Bobby Garcia tungkol kay Rachelle Anne.

Siyanga pala, nagpunta pa sina direk Bobby Garcia at Chari Arespacochaga sa Hawaii last year to take an Asian Puppetry workshop which they will use for many of the sea creatures.

“We are thrilled, once again, to bring another beloved Disney classic to the Philippine Stage. Disney’s The Little Mermaid started the renaissance of Disney’s animation department and has some of the most memorable songs written for an animation classic. We are creating a Little Mermaid unlike any other. It will be an exciting fusion of East meets West elements.

“Our underwater kingdom will be completely Asian in theme and our above water world will be Western, representing two different worlds. We will also be using traditional forms of Asian and Western puppetry including Wayang shadow play, bunraku, nang kaloung and western hand puppetry. We can’t wait to begin!” sabi ni Bobby Garcia.
