    Jericho Rosales ventures into directing
    By Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com

MANILA, Philippines - Actor Jericho Rosales is set to direct an episode of ABS-CBN's "Maalaala Mo Kaya."

In an interview during a press conference for his newest endorsement, Vantage Razors, Rosales said this is part of his contract with the Kapamilya network.

"It's really in my heart to direct full-length films, pero sabi nila I can do one 'Maalaala Mo Kaya.' So hopefully I can find the right story. So I'm really blessed na kasama 'yon sa offer sa contract ko, 'yun ang pinaka-exciting at doon ako kinakabahan," he said.

If given a choice, Rosales said he would like his nephew, young actor John Manalo, to star in his first directorial project.

"Si John Manalo, 'yung pamangkin ko. Kasi he's really good at marami siyang pwedeng ilabas sa acting. Gusto ko love story or 'yung tungkol sa pamilya. Or journey ng isang bata," he said.

Rosales said he would also like to direct actors who are a lot like him.

    MMFF film
Rosales is also part of this year's Metro Manila Film Festival via Regal Films' "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow."

Asked if he feels pressured to compete with big stars in the film industry such as Ramon Revilla Jr. for "Panday" and Vic Sotto for "Enteng ng Ina Mo," Rosales said, "Well, you know, every time may project ako I don't put pressure on myself. Before actually accepting it ay ang tagal na ng pressure sa akin."

Meanwhile, the actor believes that his latest film will give something new to moviegoers.

"I believe in 'Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.' We have a big cast, kumpleto kami but most especially, we have a good story. So somewhere in MMFF, may paglalagyan ang pelikula namin talaga," he said.

Aside from Rosales, "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" also stars Lovi Poe, Gabby Concepcion and Maricel Soriano.

After "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow," Rosales is set to do more than two films next year.

    On Piolo
In the interview, Rosales also addressed the issue that he and actor Piolo Pascual are being pitted against each other.

Pascual is Rosales' co-star in ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Padre de Pamilya," which also stars veteran actor Christopher de Leon.

"Alam mo, hindi naman maiiwasan na nakukumpara kami, pero [ang] iniisip namin ay focused kami sa teamwork. Pagdating sa work, di rin ako magiging effective kung di effective ang ka-trabaho ko. So dedepende ang performance ko sa performance ni Piolo or ni Sir Christopher, and vice versa," he explained.

"Kasi nga baka lumabas na OA ako, it's really about balance kung paano namin gagawin," he added.

Rosales said that he enjoys working with Pascual and the rest of the cast.

"Okay naman. Masarap siyempre ka-trabaho si Piolo and si Mr. Christopher de Leon. I'm really excited to work with them. It's always good to work with your friends kasi walang pressure, walang anything," he said.

    Jericho Rosales for Vantage

JERICHO Rosales continues to shine not only in his constant and steadfast pursuit of artistic excellence but also in his career as one of the top and most credible celebrity product endorsers in the country today. Jericho was recently named by entertainment magazine Yes! as one of the Most Beautiful Celebrities and Top Celebrity Endorsers of 2011 and today, an exciting new product adds up to his list of product endorsements: Vantage Razors!

Vantage is a brand of safety razors exclusively designed and distributed by Bloomworks Inc., --- a fast-growing company with more than 12 years of expertise in the health & beauty, food and fashion industries in the Philippines. Vantage Razors are manufactured by one of the pioneer razor companies in Brooklyn, New York, USA, which has been in the business for over 135 years.

Vantage Ace 2 Double Bladed Razors are exceptionally designed to provide a keen, smooth shave resulted from aggressive research and development to give men superb quality blades for a closer shave. It also features Dermaglide, a special lubricating strip with aloe vera and vitamin E that reduces razor drag and skin irritation for superior protection and comfort.

Jericho embodies the ideal Vantage Man as he epitomizes the values of hard-work and dedication. It could be said that one of Jericho’s advantages in his career is the confidence that he exudes especially when he is well groomed with a clean shave in doing his work every day.

“I’m so motivated every time I go work with a clean shave! I feel extra confident knowing that I’m well groomed and Vantage really helps in giving me that added excitement knowing that I can do my work confidently and with ease each day,” says Jericho. His management team, Manila Genesis, has confirmed that Jericho recently agreed to renew his contract with ABS-CBN and he is currently busy with an exciting line-up of projects, which fans can surely look forward to. The first season of his innovative reality show on ABS-CBN, I Dare You, which he co-hosts with Iya Villana and Melai Cantiveros, recently ended and already ABS-CBN is calling for schedules of Jericho for the second season. Jericho will also return to primetime via the upcoming and much talked about soap Padre de Pamilya where he will star opposite Piolo Pascual, Maricar Reyes, and Christopher De Leon. Darnel Joy Villaflor, who directed the top-rating soap Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, will direct Padre de Pamilya! He is also seen on ASAP Rocks every Sunday where he gets to showcase his hosting, dancing, and singing prowess. With the success of his current full-length award-winning album, Change, under Star Records which turned platinum, Jericho is also working on new materials for his next CD. A thanksgiving concert signaling his 15th anniversary in the business is also in the works.

A multi-awarded actor whose recent works include playing the lead on ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime series Green Rose opposite Anne Curtis, Jericho explains that one of his future plans is to eventually become a producer/director. “I feel an incredible sense of rush and adrenaline each time I learn something new about the art of filmmaking. I observe the people working behind the camera and I get very inspired by them. I am happy because the process of learning is never-ending and there is so much to explore and learn.”

Fans are also looking forward to see Jericho in the silver screen for an upcoming film, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, directed by Jun Lana, which will be Regal Films' official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival. He is also set to co-produce and star in an indie film on human trafficking entitled, Alagwa.

With the many blessings that he received this year, Jericho can’t help but to feel grateful for the people who continue to support him.

“I really feel privileged because I am passionate about what I do and I want to make a difference in other people’s lives through the gifts the Lord has given me. He has blessed me through the many people who continue to support me all these years: my family, ABC-CBN, my friends, my fans, and my team. I’m also very thankful now that I am part of the Vantage family. I will carry on and continue to better my craft. ” says Jericho.

A Sharp Character — Jericho Rosales’ Advantage
    by Alwin

I was at Area05 Superclub, not to party, but to cover the presscon of the newest razor product to hit the market and to witness as they introduce their product endorser — actor Jericho Rosales. It was lunchtime and the place was teeming with media people and only a handful of bloggers. It didn’t take long for Echo to come up the stage and perform. Yes, he sang two of his songs. It was my first time to really hear him sing. Back then when he was part of a band I didn’t really pay attention. But he can sing, to the delight of everyone in the audience. The program proceeded to the question and answer portion. As I listen to his answers, I discovered that Jericho Rosales has a sharp character. I think that’s his advantage over his contemporaries.
Back to School – Jericho apparently studied acting in film for two months in New York. He shared that his studies taught him how actors are supposed to be when building a character to portray. He had to unlearn a lot of things, including dropping celebrity status (which is common in the Philippines) when at work. He said further that he is now applying what he learned in his new roles, particularly in his upcoming film entitled “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” which is Regal Film’s official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival.

The actor also shared his thoughts in managing finances, and that is allotting money to save and to the church and spending something for yourself. The guy has goals in life, including the completion of his house. I’m sure with his projects and endorsements he will be able to accomplish this in no time. He recently renewed his contract with ABS-CBN and is working on an interesting line up of projects, including soap Padre de Pamilya with Christopher de Leon and Piolo Pascual. He is set to make an indie film next year, something that he always wanted to do, Echo said. The multi-awarded actor who recently appeared in Channel 2′s Green Rose opposite Anne Curtis and his first Hollywood full-length film Subject: I Love You opposite Briana Evigan, shared that plans to eventually direct his first feature movie. He initially set out to study directing in New York but his friends in the industry advised him to study acting instead, which he pursued.

Asked about the intrigues thrown at him, particularly the one that downplays his achievement against Sam Milby who is said to be going to the US for a project, Jericho expressed that he is happy that Sam is having a such a break. He also acknowledged that he will be compared with Piolo Pascual when their primetime series starts showing on TV. To have such an awareness of what’s happening around him, the actor is able to react accordingly. That’s very important when you’re in the prying eye of the public. The guy has grown in every aspect of his life and I can see his humility despite all the success that he has achieved. Aside from acting, he is also a successful recording artist and concert performer. His album “Change” under Star Records has received several awards and has turned platinum. He had his first solo two-night pre-Valentine concert early this year. He is also working on new materials for his next CD. There’s definitely a lot of things that his fans can look forward to.

From what I heard, endorsing the Vantage razors fits him to a tee. The product is the newest safety razors to hit the Philippine market exclusively designed and distributed by Bloomworks Inc. — a fast-growing company with more than 12 years of expertise in business, particularly in the health & beauty, food and fashion industries in the country. Vantage razors are manufactured by Personna American Safety Razor Company, which has been in business for over 135 years. The manufacturing company traces its roots to Brooklyn, New York back in 1875.

Extensive research and development were made to create superior quality blades that will give men a closer shave. The result is Vantage Ace 2 Jericho Rosales - Vantage ManDouble Bladed Razors, designed to provide a smooth shave. It also features a special lubricating strip with aloe vera and vitamin-E. The strip called Dearmaglide aims to reduce razor drag and skin irritation for superior protection and comfort. This is very critical for men, especially those who needs to shave daily.

Jericho Rosales is the perfect endorser for these razors as he embodies sharp character, smooth career and that clean persona. He is the ideal Vantage Man as he epitomizes hard-work and dedication to excellence. Asked what he has to say about Vantage Ace 2 Double Bladed Razors, he said “I’m so motivated every vantage ace 2 double bladed razorstime I go to work with a clean shave! I feel extra confident knowing that I’m well-groomed and Vantage really helps in giving me that added excitement knowing that I can work confidently and with ease each day.” The actor even bragged how affordable these razors are. Indeed, for a suggested retail price of less than P14.00, these razors are very affordable considering the extra protection it provides through Dermaglide.

    Jericho, happy for Sam
By Karen Valeza | Yahoo! Southeast Asia Newsroom – Fri, Nov 25, 2011 12:00 PM PHT

Jericho Rosales is happy for his fellow Kapamilya artist and friend Sam Milby who is currently pursuing his Hollywood dream.

Jericho and Sam have always been vocal about their hopes of making it in Hollywood, and are working hard to reach their goal.

Jericho topbilled the international movie “Subject: I Love You,” featuring Hollywood stars Dean Cain, Dante Basco and Briana Evigan. He enrolled in an acting class at New York Film Academy last August.

Meanwhile, Sam will stay in the US for three months starting February 2012 for more auditions and to meet other network executives. Sam gave up big projects in the Philippines since he thinks prospects of making it in Hollywood are “very promising.”

    On being compared to Sam
“Kino-compare ako kay Sam kasi we both went to the States. I’m very happy for Sam. It’s good to have that opportunity. Wala ka naman masamang tinapay doon. It’s good if he opens door, just like what Cesar Montano has done before. I wish him all the best,” Jericho said at the press launch of his newest endorsement, Vantage Double-bladed Razors, at Area 05 in Tomas Morato, Quezon City on November 24.

Jericho thinks Sam has an advantage in Hollywood since he was born and raised in the US. Jericho adds that his freind is very familiar with the culture and language there.

“First of all, pasok na pasok siya doon kasi yung accent niya and everything. So, he won’t have a hard time. And he really wanted it, so it’s good. It’s an opportunity for him and I want to support my fellow actors,” Jericho reveals.

    Acting class in the US
Jericho shared that he never had the chance to audition in the U.S. due to lack of time, but he learned how acting auditions work.

“Yung pinunta ko doon sa States, it’s always good to enhance yourself pagdating sa trabaho mo. And acting is something na hindi mo dapat pabayaan,” Jericho points out.

Do comparisons with Sam affect him?

“Hindi naman ako naapektuhan. I just don’t want people to create issue,” Jericho replies.

He insists that people should stop creating issues and rumors and just support him and Sam instead.

“We should all be happy, nasa isang sector lang tayo ng industriya. We have a dying industry, kung ibabase ko sa mga storya ng mga beterano. So the best thing we can do is be happy and be supportive of each other,” Jericho goes on.

Jericho maintains that he still dreams of pursuing an acting career in the US since it’s an honor to represent the country in the international scene.

“But still, pangarap ko pa rin ‘yun na bilang Pilipino ay makagawa ng pelikula doon. Gusto ko rin ma-improve yung industriya natin,” he adds.

If Jericho’s plan to pursue a Hollywood career pushes thorugh, will he leave local showbiz?

“I don’t think I have to do that kasi importante at mahal ko ‘yung trabaho ko dito sa Pilipinas. If ever, hindi ko naman siguro kailangang iwanan yung Philippines kase mahirap naman na talikuran yung pinanggalingan mo. May mga paraan naman. Kailangang balanced pa rin,” Jericho states.

    Handling relationship
Jericho adds that he is now “sharper” in handling relationships. He explains that he is happy and inspired, but wants to focus first on his career.

“Alam mo, 'yan ang isang bagay na pinapapurol ko, eh. Ang dami ko na kasing past relationships, kaya ang plano ko talaga, medyo susuwabehin ko lang ngayon,” Jericho teased.

Jericho is slated to do a new ABS-CBN TV drama titled “Padre de Pamilya" with Christopher de Leon and Piolo Pascual. He also stars in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” under Regal Films.

correction ko lang na hindi pa gf ni echo ang non showbiz girl dahil sabi niya nasa dating stage pa lang sila. ayaw niyang sabihin kung sino dahil gusto niyang maging private anuman ang nangyayari sa lovelife niya.
