My theory is this.
During the flashback scenes, Prince Charming died due to his wounds, after the sword fight scenes.

I liked the pilot. It definitely is interesting IMO, sana lang wag maging ala-Lost talaga to na nakaka-lost talaga!

It's just weird that there will be two fairy tale themed shows on TV once Grimm starts, tapos meron pang two Snow White movies naman.

Sobrang bitin yung Pilot pero I like it. A sucker of fantasy genre. Agree din ako na weak yung mga dialogues nila pero I'm not expecting too much so it's still acceptable. Sana nga at mapick-up na sya for a full season kasi mahirap na

Aside from the popular fairy tales (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc.), sana isama yung not-so-popular fairy tales.

Para sa ganun, ma-familiarize yung today's generation.

^ I agree. Magkamukha sila. Nung una hindi ko napansin eh. The hair color distracted me pero the eyes... Said it all.

I wasn't amazed with the pilot pero slowly I'm loving the twists. And I like how all the fairytale characters are shown in one show, then the modern times too! It's refreshing.

The order is a bit unusual since only two episodes have aired, but Once is ranked as the highest-rated new drama of the fall, averaging 12.3 million viewers and a hearty 4.0 rating among adults 18-49. Plus, Once held onto its strong Sunday night premiere rating in Week 2 despite facing increased competition — and that’s very rare.

Just finished watching the 2nd episode. Okay pa naman sya over all at bitin pa rin yung ending.

Kailangan ko syang ulitin kasi di ko maintindihan yung conversation ni Evil Queen at Rumpelstiltskin both sa fairy tale world at sa real world. Sumabay pa yung malakas na ulan

Also, does anyone knows how to put subtitle kapag sa TV ka nanonood using USB? kapag kinopya ko kasi yung subtitle sa flash disk kasama nung video file eh grayed out pa rin yung option ng subtitle. Ayoko namang i-connect yung pc ko sa TV sa sala kasi hassle

Contrary to most posts here, I think the pilot episode is nicely done. It carefully set-up the premise of the whole story and the dialogs are actually good.

I really don't expect an Old English dialog to complement the story because the premise isn't built on that. Once Upon a Time is a post-modern take on fairy tale classics.

The strength of the story revolved around the literal parallelism and that it gave the antagonist an entirely new dimension, the depth that was sorely lacking in the classics.

The Evil Queen, has a name too and she has a father. She's not born evil and something must have happened that made her evil. She seeks revenge not just because Snow White was the fairest creature in the land but because of something else.

I liked how the curse made every fairy tale characters humans. It somehow tells us that the humans live in the curse and that the earth is a cursed land. At the risk of becoming to preachy, this speaks volumes about the society in general and how wicked the humankind has evolved to be.

The story provides a good parallel to any kind of society, the competition between the ruling class and the minority. I love the line when the queen said, "I deserve a happy ending too." With the new dimensions given to the classical antagonists, you'll think that they are also victims of a predetermined fate, that they will banished and that the prince and princess will always get their own happy ending.

Now even if in the modern town, all the protagonists are bewitched to be just like humans who believe that it is only silly to believe that fairy tales are true, the town seemed to be enjoying peace. It's not as if evil reigned on the town. The mayor is doing a great job ruling the place and everyone seemed to have gotten their own happily ever after. The modern town practically obliterated a formerly predetermined social structure in a classical fairytale.

And I can tell that the mayor may be harsh and rude but I am sure that she loves Henry, whom she named after her dad.

I like it. The last time I was this excited with a new series was the time when I watched the first three episodes of Glee before it became a hit. Sadly, Glee is losing its touch and I can only hope that this one won't.

Best Character: Evil Queen / Mayor
