Call their hotline and have it reversed. That's what I did and they waived it.

Kakagulat talaga yang annual fee ng UnionBank but in fairness to them wala talagang nakalagay sa application form na waived ang first year. I was able to have my first annual fee waived though, here's my story.

I received my card in 2008 and was billed with an annual fee of 1.5k right away. I called customer service and asked if they could have it waived and the CSR I was talking to said no. Instead, she offered me to convert the annual fee into 6-month installment para hindi daw masyado mabigat. I said I would think about it.

The following day I called customer service again and this time a male CSR answered. I asked for my annual fee to be converted into 6-month installment and then he put me on hold. After a few minutes he asked if I would rather have it waived. I said, "pwede ba yun? Sabi kasi nung nakausap ko kahapon hindi pwede." And then he asked how I got my card I said it was pre-approved. And then his reply was, "Sir, since you were misinformed I would have your annual fee reversed and it will be reflected on your next billing statement."

My card wasn't really pre-approved. I applied for it over the phone. I guess I got lucky that the CSR I talked to was very nice.

Regarding cancellation of account, you can have it cancelled anytime as long as you have no outstanding balance. Even if the annual fee is already posted, you can cancel the card without paying for the annual fee as long as it's not yet due for payment.

hi about my card approved last april 2011 i try to call if do i need to pay my annual fee the csr told me no its free for the first year on the second year dun ko magbabayad so dapat i contes mo kung bakit ka na billed agad eh wala pa naman 1 year account mo....

hello, first time q po ku2ha ng credit card and im from a bpo company. madali *** ba magapprove s unionbank? sbi kc pag daw galing ng bpo mhirap dw maapprove and credit card application. s unionbank ko balak magapply kasi ito *** gamit nmin s payroll. anu ba mga concerns about s annual fee? balak ko **** kc na one year *** siya gamitin para makabili ng laptop. hehe. thanks.
