Bakit mo sinitas ang Acts 2:4? aida, ang mga sinasabi mo ay katulad ng samahang relihiyon na Pentecostal pero hindi ako nakakasiguro kaya tinanong kita kung ano ang pangalan ng iyong relihiyon. At ito ang iyong tugon:

Paniwlaan natin ang Biblia na ang relihiyon ay hindi isang samahan, kaya ang tao dapat ay hindi tinatawag sa pangalan ng isang samahan. Ako ay Kristiano na "kay Cristo." at nabibilang sa anak/binhi ni Abraham (o ng sali't-saling lahi ng mga tunay na mananampalataya.

Ayon sa iyo, ang relihiyon ay hindi isang samahan???? Ang mga tao ay hindi sama-sama sa iisang panunumbalik sa Dios so kung hindi sama-sama edi watak-watak kahit saan na lang sila nabibilang kahit magkaiba sila ng paraan at pananampalataya? Ganyan ang mga Protestante! Kahit kontradiksiyon ang iyong mga pahayag malamang isa kang kaanib sa samahang pangrelihiyon na Pentecostal. Marami na ang umalis sa samahang Pentecostal. Isa na ito:

"WHY I LEFT THE PENTECOSTAL CHURCH"

(2 Tim 3:14)

Paul could have been thinking of me when he wrote this verse to a young man named Timothy. I was born into a Pentecostal family of many years. My grandfather preached "fire and brimstone" from the time I could remember until his death in 1968. He was some-what an intimidating individual who was demanding and abrupt. I was taught that only those who were "chosen" or "called" could ever enter into the "faithful" ministry of our Lord. I never challenged his thinking or his preaching. What he said was like a direct command from Jesus Christ himself. With this in mind .. at the age of 12 .. I was told I was being called into the ministry and preached my first sermon shortly thereafter. I spent a total of 18 years preaching as a "Pentecostal" preacher. I taught the "Jesus Only" doctrine known as the "Apostolic Faith" (United Pentecostal Church).

To this day, my family fully believes that if one is not of the "Lord's true church" that being, saved in baptism in Jesus Name, and filled with the "Holy ghost" with the evidence of "Speaking in Tongues" ... one is not a Christian and headed for a "Devil's hell". My Grandfather (before his death) preached this 54 years ... my step-father has preached this in excess of 50 years ... my brother-in-law and sister "Pastor" a very large Pentecostal church in the Cincinnati, OH area. I have two cousins that are "Pentecostal" preachers. I have been accused of being "In a den of thieves and a pit of vipers", because of my stand on the Word of God and my faithfulness to the Lord's church. My wife and I have been publicly chastised and the atmosphere is very tense when we are visiting with my family. We are shunned by most of my family. We are reminded regularly of (2 Tim 3:12) ... "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."

It was the first Thursday night of October, 1984, at the age of 42 when I realized that all that I had been teaching for 18 years as a "Pentecostal" had been "false doctrine" and that I was like the "blind leading the blind." That Thursday night of October, 1984 changed my life, my thinking, and my understanding of the "Word of God." I was invited to a "Gospel Meeting" at the Sandstone Drive Church of Christ, Little Rock, AR ... (I had never been to a Lord's church in my life.) Chris Bullock, of Kansas City, MO was to be the speaker. I consented to go with the attitude that I would be able to shed some light on his teaching and thus convince others of their wrong. Something happened: what was preached was what I had secretly believed all my adult life ... One did not have to come to an "altar", cry out, beg and plead for mercy to receive forgiveness ... one did not have to come again to the "altar" to "seek for the infilling of the Holy Spirit", which was promised to believers, one did not have to "utter" confusion in an attempt to show one has the gift of "speaking in tongues."

All one had to do was hear the simple word of truth, believe it, confess Christ as the Son of God, repent of ones sins, and be baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for remission of sins. The Lord not only forgives completely but adds one to the church. This I did in obedience the following Sunday evening ... I became a "born again Christian." I gave up my life ... my music ... even my future dreams to follow Jesus for the first time in my life ... on the right path.

It was not until October, 1987 when I met Louis Sharp in Little Rock, AR, that I really understood what "faithfulness" really means. As we began to study and learn... I began to realize that the Lord had work for me, as a Christian, to do. I then began to teach and preach the Gospel of Christ, it has now become my life. My desire is to teach those who are in error ... the truth ... that they to might become part of this body of Christ.

I. Let Me Tell You Why I Am A Member of The Lord's Church.

A. Pentecostalism traces itself back no further that, New Years Eve, 1899. (Topeka, KS.) This is when a small group of people supposedly received a "Divine Revelation" for the first time ever recorded.

1. The Lord's church dates back to 33 AD when the 12 disciples received the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:4)

2. This was a result of the fulfillment of the promise Jesus gave to his disciples. (Acts 1:8)

3. The Pentecostal church cannot show authority from God's word for its beginning!!

B. Pentecostalism teaches that the "power of the Holy Spirit" fell first on the 120 gathered in the upper room.

1. The Bible teaches that only the 12 disciples received first the "Holy Spirit". (Acts 1:26-2:1)

C. Pentecostalism believes that this power is received today because of the "New Revelation of God". in 1899.

1. The Bible teaches in no such thing. (2 Tim 3:16-17) ...

2. The scripture holds all that man needs to know for his salvation. There are no new revelations...

D. Pentecostalism teaches that in 1914 .. another revelation was received .. revealing that being baptized in "Jesus Name" became tenets of faith. (Law) ... a formula!

1. That is not what the Bible says ... (Mat 28:19-20)

E. We find that in the early half of this century (1900 - 1944)... several Pentecostal groups were established: Two being ...Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ, Inc. and the Pentecostal church, Inc. In 1944 these two bodies became known as the UNITED PENTECOSTAL CHURCH ... The authority is: (Pentecostal Church Manual, pp. 8-10, Foreword.)

1. The Bible teaches that the Lord established only one church ... (Mat 16:18)

2. This is the only church that Christ and the Apostles ever speak of.

II. What are some of the Pentecostal practices?

A. They claim that through the instrument of the Holy Spirit .. miracles and healing incurable diseases occurs daily. (Silver fillings become Gold ... Poor become miraculously rich ... Dead are raised ... Sick people instantly healed) (I never seen anyone miraculously healed in all the years I was "Pentecostal".)

1. I will not limit God ... He has the power if he so chooses .... Man does not have that power.

2. If he does ... where is the proof? "They call it lack of FAITH".

3. When does the Holy Spirit give to one man this power and not another? That is unscriptural.

a. Only the disciples and those they laid hands on had this power .... They are all dead.

B. Pentecostalism teaches .. a person may speak in "tongues" while under the influence of the "Holy Spirit" ...just like Peter and the other Apostles at Pentecost.

1. The only others who were able to do this were Cornelius and his kinfolk (Acts 10:44-46)

2. And those whom the apostles laid there hands on.

3. Don't we all have the continued influence of the Holy Spirit ... through the word: Can any one of us speak in an "unlearned" language?

C. "Pentecostalism" espouses religion as a "romantic" philosophy .. that the heart of man has reasons which his mind knows not of. Man's feelings are the highest authority.

1. The Bible is truth. (John 17:17) ... the truth is not subjective ... it does not originate with a person's own thinking ... Religion is not on based on a "feel" good experience.

a. I get excited sometimes because of the truth .. that is natural.

2. The Bible must be read ... studied and obeyed. (2 Tim 2:15) .. (John 8:32)

3. The Bible is the absolute, inspired and authoritative Word of God. (2 Tim 3:16-17) (2 Pet 1:20-21)

4. When a man regards his feelings as the basic authority ... he is on the wrong path.

5. To reject the Word of God and do "that which is right in our own eyes" is to reject God. (1 Sam 15:22-26) (Mat 7:13-14)

6. I feel good about the truth but my feeling good is not authority!

D. Pentecostalism believes and teaches that women may participate in leading in prayer .. teaching .... and preaching in public ... doing the work of an evangelist and teacher.

1. The Holy Spirit contrasted the duties of men from that of women in public prayer. (1 Tim 2:8-15)

2. Women are to learn in silence. (1 Cor 14:34) ... They are not to teach in any capacity over a man.

3. Woman may teach younger women (*** 2:4) ... they may teach a man in private. (Acts 18:25)

a. Timothy was taught in private .... Apolos was taught in private.

4. Women many not "teach" (deliver discourses) ... women are forbidden to preach. (1 Cor 14:34)

5. There are many things women can and should be doing.

E. "Pentecostalism" teaches that instruments of music are used to "glorify" God in worship.

1. True worship is according to "Spirit and Truth" (John 4:24) .. the word of God ... not Moses ... not our feelings ... not what we believe to be right ... Jesus will judge us in the Last Day. (John 12:48)

2. Vocal music was repeatedly specified as the kind of worship God wants from Christians. (Col 3:16) (Eph 5:19)

3. Christians are to abide in the teachings of Christ .. not in man. (2 John 9-10) .. we are to follow the pattern given by God (Heb 8:5) ... without adding, subtracting or altering according to our own desires or opinions.

CONCLUSION:

I had read the Bible all my life .... I preached that which I had been taught .. when I doubted I was always told of "new revelations" received from God. In the "Pentecostal" church one is taught that the "Pastor" is the authority within the church .. and only knowledge is gained by adherence to "God's man" and in the leading of the "Holy spirit" directly. Accept that which you doubt with your faith.

Only until I realized that in order to understand the "Gospel" one must study with an open heart ... prepared to accept the truth of the "Gospel" ... and with this truth ... obey the word of God. The Bible really is a simple book to understand ... but when man attempts to add to it ... his opinion ... his feelings .... he begins to lose the truth and believe a lie.

Trust this word completely .... obey it! It contains all that man needs to get him into eternity with Jesus Christ.

A Pentecostal pastor famed for handling snakes during church sermons has died after being bitten by a rattlesnake.

Mark “Mack” Wolford, 44, was well-known across the US state of Virginia for his lively church services, which included handling dangerous snakes in a ‘test of faith’. But the pastor died after being bitten by a rattlesnake he had owned for years, mirroring the death of his own father in 1983.

Holding an outdoor service in which serpents where passed around among church members, Wolford was bitten in the thigh by a yellow rattlesnake as he sat on the floor next to it. The service was quickly disbanded as the pastor was taken to family member’s house to recover, but he later died in hospital from poisoning.

Wolford had been bitten on three previous occasions, but did not seek medical attention as he regarded the injury as a test of faith.

“He helped me to understand the faith instead of just documenting it,” photographer and eyewitness Lauren Pond told the Washington Post. “He was one of the most open pastors I’ve ever met. He was a friend and a teacher.”

“I didn’t see the bite, I saw the aftermath” she added.

The group of serpent handlers follow the gospel of Mark, which states: “And these signs will follow
those who believe...they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Sino baga ang nagsasalita ng ibang wika (ESPIRITUWAL NA WIKA) kundi si Jesus? John 6:63 "Ang mga salitang sinasalita ko sa inyo ay pawang espirituwal." Siya na Espiritu o Dios (2 Cor. 3:17) ang siyang Espiritu Santo:

Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood."

May nabasa ka bang si Jesuscristo ang siyang Espiritu Santo? Nasaan? ang nakalagay ay "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them." Sa salin ng Tagalog ay ganito:

At silang lahat ay napuspos ng Banal na Espiritu at nagsimulang magsalita sa ibang mga wika ayon sa ibinigay ng Espiritu sa kanila na kanilang sasabihin.

Hindi mo nga tinatanggap na si Jesus ang siyang Espiritu o Ama (2 Cor. 3:17), at sa Acts 20:28 ang salitang "God" ay pinapalitan ninyo ng "Christ" kaya paano mangyayaring maunawaan mo ang ipinahahayag doon na, "Ang Dios na siyang Espiritu Santo ay si Jesus?"

Wala iyong sinasabi mo na si Jesucristo ang siyang Espiritu Santo.

Hindi mo mauunawaan ang Acts 2:4 dahil hindi mo naranasan. Hindi mo naranasan, mangyayari bang mauunawaan mo rin ang sumusunod:

1Corinthians 2:13 "Which things (spiritual things) also we speak (teach), not in the words literal words) which man's (natural man's) wisdom teacheth (physical wisdom), but which the Holy Ghost teacheth (Jesus Christ); comparing spiritual things with spiritual."

Ikaw ay nagmamarunong ngunit lumalabas na mangmang!

Ganyan talaga ang hindi mga tao ng Dios. Sa pagpapahayag ang lahat ay nauuwi sa pamemersonal at panunuya.

Delikado ang mga nagbabasa ng iyong mga pahayag na kapag hindi sinuri baka maniwala sa mga sinasabi mo.

Si Jesus ang namimili sa mga tao para magsipag-bunga ng mga bunga ng Espiritu. Ang sa akin ay pagbubukas lamang ng tabing ukol sa kaligtasan na itinuturo ang DAAN ng kaligtasan.

James 2:11 "...Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law."

Ang mga Pentecostal ay maituturing na hindi espirituwal na nangangalunya dahil ang kanilang kinikilalang Dios/espirituwal na asawa ay si Jesus. Ganoon pa man, dahil ang kanilang pagtuturo sa Biblia ay sa paraang LITERAL, at ang TITIK o literal na unawa sa Biblia ay pumapatay (2 Cor. 3:6), sila ay maituturing pa ding mga espirituwal na mamamatay-tao.

Ang Acts 2:4 ba ay para sa mga Pentecostal lamang? At pag ginamit ng iba ay Pentecostal na ang tao?

Ayon sa iyo, ang relihiyon ay hindi isang samahan????

Ganoon ang sinasabi ng Biblia, kaya sinasampalatayanan ko ito.

Ang mga tao ay hindi sama-sama sa iisang panunumbalik sa Dios

Tungkol dito, ang mga tunay na Kristiano ay nanumbalik sa Panginoon (sa Kaniya mismo) sa paraang pagpapakababa sa Kaniyang harapan, na sa Kaniya lamang iniaasa ang lahat ng mga bagay na nauukol sa espirituwal. Dahil dito, Siya ay nagpakilala nang lubusan sa kanila:

Jeremiah 24:7 "And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart."

Sa kabilang banda, ang mga hindi tunay na Kristiano ay nanumbalik sa Dios sa paraang pagsapi sa relihiyon, at pamamag-asa sa mga lider ng pananampalataya tungkol sa mga bagay na nauukol sa espirituwal.

so kung hindi sama-sama edi watak-watak kahit saan na lang sila nabibilang kahit magkaiba sila ng paraan at pananampalataya?

Ang pananampalataya o FAITH (o tunay na pagkakilala sa Dios) nga ay kaloob. Lahat ng mga nabibilang sa mga relihiyon, dahil sa mga lider nila sila umaasa, kung sino at ilan ang Dios ng lider nila, iyun na rin ang nagiging Dios nila.

Ganyan ang mga Protestante! Kahit kontradiksiyon ang iyong mga pahayag

Ang mga sinasabi ko ba ang kontradiksyon sa Biblia, o ang mga sinasabi mo?

malamang isa kang kaanib sa samahang pangrelihiyon na Pentecostal. Marami na ang umalis sa samahang Pentecostal. Isa na ito:

Bintang ka ng bintang. Hindi mo ba kayang paniwalaan ang tapat na sinasabi ko, na ako ay Kristiano lamang na sa Sangbahayan ng Dios nabibilang? Bakit ako sasapi sa anomang samahan eh pinaaalis nga ng Panginoon ang mga tao diyan (Rev. 18:4, 2 Cor. 6:17)?

Ano ang layunin mo sa patotoong ito? Ang engganyuhin ang mga tao na umalis sa Pentecostal, at lumipat sa inyo? Sinomang makinig sa iyo, lumipat lang siya ng samahan, pero nananatili pa ding siya ay makasalanan dahil sa hindi pakikinig sa panawagan ng Panginoon na ang mga tao ay magsilabas at magsihiwalay sa mga relihiyon.

Oo, lumabas nga sa natalikod na iglesia na Katolisismo

Ang Katolisismo kailan man ay hindi itinayo ni Cristo kaya paanong ito ay tumalikod?

na ang ulo ay ang Papa sa Roma na Anti-Cristo (666)

Sa katotohanan, ang 666 ay silang mga TAO na nagtuturo ng espirituwal na pangangalunya: Trinitarian (6), Arian (6), at Pentecostal (6).

Dalawang bagay lang iyan. Isang "kay Cristo" o si Jesucristo ang kinikilalang Dios, at isang anticristo (hindi si Jesucristo ang kinikilalang Dios).

pero mali pa rin ang paraan at hindi nakilala ang iisang Dios na tunay na ipinakilala ni Cristo.

Sa John 17:3, hindi ipinakikilala ni Jesus na ang Ama ang tunay na Dios. Sa halip, ang Kaniyang sinabi ay "that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent" na ibig sabihin; naroon ang kagustuhan Niya na nawa ay makilala ng mga alagad ang Ama at Siya (o kung paanong sila ay iisa at siya din).

Ang Dios ay Espiritu (John 4:24), at si Jesucristo ang siyang Espiritu (2 Corinthians 3:17). Kaya paanong sasabihin mong iba ang Ama sa Anak?

Papaano ka magtatamo ng kaligtasan at buhay na walang hanggan?

Saliksikin mo ang mga Kasulatan na nauukol lamang tungkol kay Jesus (john 5:39).

Malamang nahawa ka ng mga pastor ng Pentecostal Church na mga bulaang propeta o False Prophet.

Ang mga bulaang propeta ayon sa Biblia ay silang nagsitanggap ng TANDA (mark) sa kanilang mga noo at kamay (Rev. 14:9). Kaiba sa kanila, ang TANDA ng mga tunay na Kristiano ay sa noo lamang.

Marami sa Amerika nito at nakakamatay ang mga iyan. Kukunin ng ahas na si Satanas upang makasama sa kamatayan dahil tinanggap ang kasinungalingan.

Anong kamatayan ang tinutukoy mo, espirituwal ba o pisikal na kamatayan?

Pilit mo mang itago ang iyong relihiyon at ayaw sabihin ang pangalan nito, wala ka pa rin sa tamang relihiyon. Nasa labas ka man ng Katolisismo na natutuyo na, nasa impluwensiya ka naman ng False Prophet na sinasalot din. Ang tunay na kay Cristo ay tinatawag na mga iglesia ni Cristo na umaani ng parada ng tagumpay.

Ang tanong ko sa iyo aida ay ganito:

Nasaan sa talata ng Acts 2:4 na si Jesucristo ay siyang Espiritu Santo?

Rapper 50 Cent was at the Las Vegas courtroom with Mayweather, and said the boxer would be “all right”.
At the time of sentencing, the judge had told the court she was particularly concerned that Mayweather had attacked and threatened Ms Harris while two of their children were present.

The assault took place in 2010.
Mayweather has been involved in a string of criminal cases for violence since 2002.

DECIPHERING GOD’S SPIRITUAL LANGUAGE


FAITH


Perhaps many people think that FAITH comes from man, because our Lord kept on saying, "Have faith..., if you have faith..., increase your faith." Faith actually is a gift of God:

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"

Faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit:

Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,"

Since FAITH comes from God, how could a real believer have it? It was answered by our Lord in:

Matthew 18:3 "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

Humility comes first before faith. In fact, this is the only role of the real Christian. Once our Lord see real spiritual humility in the chosen, He will give him the "gifts," and provide him with the "fruit(s)."

Since FAITH comes from God, this is hardly discernible by the unbelievers. Thus, its spiritual size of a "mustard seed." What people see is "faith" that comes from man’s capability. This is not true faith. Our Lord saw this kind of faith in the religious people during His time. He called them "hypocrites." (Read the whole of Matthew 23.)


MOUNTAIN


Look how far is man’s understanding from God’s explanation of His words. Mountain to God refers to people. God tells us to take only the "line" (Isaiah 28:10), and not "verse by verse." "Contextual" understanding and interpretation is man’s invention. Originally, the Bible was not divided into chapters and verses. These were the works of men only.

Judges 9:36 "And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men."

Mountain, therefore, refers to the real believer who has faith as big as a mustard seed. This spiritual mountain must "move to the sea." ....

Alalahanin mong ang FAITH (o ang tunay na pagkakilala sa Dios), dahil ito ay isa sa mga bunga ng Espiritu (Galatians 65:22) na si Jesucristo (2 Cor. 3:17), ito ay kaloob (o ang Panginoon mismo ang nagpapakilala sa mga tao). Sa mga taong nabibilang sa relihiyon, ang mga lider ng pananampalataya ang nagpapakilala sa Dios sa mga tao. Kaya nga, kung sino at ilan ang Dios ng lider ng tao, iyun na rin ng nagiging Dios niya. Hindi ito tunay na FAITH.

Marami ang kaanib.

Sa relihiyon, ang gawa nila ay ang manawagan sa mga tao para sila ay magsi-anib sa kanila, na nangangakong sa ganitong paraan maliligtas ang tao. Sa Panginoon, ang DAAN ng kaligtasan ay ang sampalatayanan nila Siya (o pakinggan ng tao ang lahat ng mga nasusulat - Acts 16:31), at Siya na ang bahala sa tao.

Greece Warns of Going Broke as Tax Proceeds Dry Up

ATHENS — As European leaders grapple with how to preserve their monetary union, Greece is rapidly running out of money.

Government coffers could be empty as soon as July, shortly after this month’s pivotal elections. In the worst case, Athens might have to temporarily stop paying for salaries and pensions, along with imports of fuel, food and pharmaceuticals.
Officials, scrambling for solutions, have considered dipping into funds that are supposed to be for Greece’s troubled banks. Some are even suggesting doling out i.o.u.’s.

Greek leaders said that despite their latest bailout of 130 billion euros, or $161.7 billion, they face a shortfall of 1.7 billion euros because tax revenue and other sources of potential income are drying up. A wrenching recession and harsh budget cuts have left businesses and individuals with less and less to give for taxes — and growing incentive to avoid paying what they owe.

The budget gap is widening as the so-called troika of lenders — the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission — withholds 1 billion euros in bailout money earmarked for government financing while it waits to see whether new leaders elected June 17 will honor Greece’s commitments.

Even if the troika delivers that money, Greece will struggle to cover its obligations. It underscored a harsh reality that is playing out in other troubled euro zone economies. Prolonged austerity is making it harder, not easier, for governments like Greece to become self-reliant again.

A top Spanish official acknowledged on Tuesday that Spain could not readily return to the markets to raise money because investors are demanding such high rates, highlighting how the debt crisis is spreading to larger economies in Europe.

Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany said a day earlier that European leaders needed to find a way to create the political union that the world is looking for to complement their monetary union. European officials took a small step in that direction Tuesday by proposing a central authority for banking regulation, which would require countries to give up a bit of cherished sovereignty.

An essential element of Greece’s recovery plan has been to collect more taxes from a population that has long engaged in tax avoidance. The government is owed 45 billion euros in back taxes, tax officials in Athens said, only a fraction of which will ever be recovered.

To understand the difficulty, just talk to Nikos Maitos, a longtime official in Greece’s financial crimes investigation unit.

When he and a team of inspectors recently prowled the recession-hit island of Naxos for tax evaders, a local radio station broadcast his license plate number to warn residents.
“One repercussion of the crisis is that people are harder to find,” Mr. Maitos, an imposing, burly man, said last week in his sweltering office on the edge of Athens. “And when you do find them, they don’t have money.”

Even tax collectors, who have had to take large pay cuts, find that budget reductions make it hard to pay for the gasoline needed to reach their targets.

“After two and a half years of austerity, it’s really a difficult time to bring in revenue,” said Harry Theoharis, a senior official in the Greek Finance Ministry who helps oversee the country’s tax payment system. “You can’t keep flogging a dead horse.”
Salaries and pensions in the private and the public sectors have been cut by up to 50 percent, leaving Greece 495 million euros short of its revenue targets in the four months ended in April, according to the Greek Finance Ministry. With less cash, consumers have curbed spending, leading thousands of taxpaying businesses to fail.
Income expected from a higher, 23 percent value-added tax required by the bailout agreement has fallen short by around 800 million euros in the first four months of 2012. That is partly because cash-short businesses that were once law-abiding have started hiding money to stay afloat, tax officials said.

Greece’s General Accounting Office said recently that the state collected 25 percent less revenue in May than it did a year earlier. And the state has had to slash its goal of raising 50 billion euros from privatizations to just 3 billion euros as foreign investors lose interest.

That has left a caretaker government scrambling for a Plan B. One thought is to take billions of euros reserved for recapitalizing Greek banks, which have suffered from a flight of deposits amid political uncertainty and fears that Greece may abandon the euro for its own currency. But using that money would require the troika’s approval. Other notions, like i.o.u.’s and scrip, so far are only that — ideas.

To some extent, government officials said the tax-avoiding mentality is starting to change amid an aggressive enforcement campaign aimed at 500 wealthy individuals and companies, including former ministers and heads of state agencies and enterprises. People took notice in April when a former defense minister was arrested on charges of corruption and making false declarations related to his income and taxes.

“They are awed when they see inspectors now because of recent cases showing people will be prosecuted or made to pay,” Mr. Maitos said.

Tax collectors got another potential lift recently when the government started enforcing a 1995 law that gives them access to bank accounts of suspected tax evaders.

But Nikos Lekkas, a top official at the financial crimes agency where Mr. Maitos works, said Greek banks had obstructed nearly 5,000 requests for account data since 2010.
“The banks delay sending the information for 8 to 12 months,” he said. “And when they do, they send huge stacks of documents to make it confusing. By the time we can follow up, much of the money has already fled.”

In the past two years, the agency managed to assess back taxes worth 650 million euros on 210 of the cases, he said. But only 65 percent could be collected.

One challenge lies in what Mr. Lekkas calls the big fish — 18,300 offshore businesses belonging to wealthy Greek individuals and companies. Authorities are trying to trace the owners through property records, and they recently seized several large properties linked to offshore companies whose owners owe tens of millions of euros to the state.
That leaves collectors having to go after mostly smaller tax evaders, often with mixed results.

During a surveillance trip on the resort island of Santorini, Mr. Maitos said he and two colleagues observed a gas station owner insisting on cash-only transactions to avoid declaring taxes. When confronted, the man lashed at them with a bullwhip while cursing the state for taking his money.

Officials said things might improve drastically once Greece’s entire tax system is computerized, a move that is supposed to be completed by the end of this year.
Charalambos Nikolakopoulos, the head of the Greek tax collectors’ union, said there was no need for outsiders to straighten things out.

“Yes, we need change,” Mr. Nikolakopoulos said. “But things will only improve in Greece when we get a stable government that will impose its political will.”

In the 1530s, riding on a crest of peasant revolts, a clutch of Anabaptists assumed control of the German town of Munster and hailed it as a New Jerusalem awaiting the return of Christ.

But the situation in Munster was far from the ideal Christian commonwealth. Jan Bockelson, a tailor from the Dutch city of Leiden, declared himself the "Messiah of the last days," took multiple wives, issued coins that prophesied the coming apocalypse and in general made life hell for everyone in the city (except for a few fellow proselytizers who lived lavishly — and, according to some accounts, in a great state of debauch). The Anabaptists' hold over Munster ended in a bloody siege in 1535. Bockelson's genitals reportedly were nailed to the city's gates.

How did he do that? He convinced his followers that he was Christ and that they should hole up at what was called the Mount Carmel Center to prepare for the end of the world. Their ideas were based on the beliefs of an earlier Adventist splinter group.

When authorities learned that the Branch Davidians were allegedly holding a trove of weapons on the site and that there were possibly instances of abuse of women and children, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a search on the compound in February 1993. The Davidians fought back; four agents were killed as well as six members of the sect. Koresh persuaded his followers to remain at Mount Carmel and refuse to surrender. For 50 days, a tense standoff ensued. My past dark inner spirit was lighted up after reading the Bible not with a former open literally doctrinated mind but now in deep humility as a spiritually converted little child. This highly spirited foundation stemmed from what i had read on one of the threads here.

The fellas there are writing/sharing in spiritual humility that GOD's written Words are first and foremost to be spiritually discerned from the light of HIS scriptures upon scriptures: precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little:

I was ejected fully out of my former religiosity just morality box after having read this isaiah 28:10. First time i have came upon this GOD's written Words nullifying the contextual searching of HIS written Scriptures that led to pitfalls of so much proliferated faiths, ages upon ages.

But, with HIS permissive Will, HE bestowed upon all human beings the free will whether to search ardently GOD's Truth or not - first and foremost within the deep realm of Spiritual Truth rather solely thru the literal, philosophical, logical or self-serving historical basis.

The Greek Orthodox Church in Greece is a rich religion characterized by festivals and Saints days throughout the year. Food plays a key role in Greek society particularly in respect of their Orthodox religion with fasting and feasting throughout the religious calendar in Greece.

The women of Greece prepare the food for the Saints day celebrations which are like birthdays. Many Greeks are named after Orthodox saints and children traditionally do not celebrate their own birthdays but that of the Saint after whom they are named. *Name day celebrations do not involve present giving but open house to family and neighbours who wish to give good wishes where they will be provided with sweets and other refreshments.

Easter is the most important Festival in Greece, which is preceded by a pre Lenten festival known as ‘Clean Monday’. Greece being a matriarchal society, the women are often the caretakers of the religious observance of fasting and have even been known to fast in their husbands place during the 40 days of lent if the latter are unable to sustain their obligation to the Religion.

During holy week the Churches in Greece are decorated in black. On Good Friday the women traditionally decorate Christ’s bier which they then carry through the streets singing hymns. On the Saturday before Easter Sunday, in this very important time in the religious calendar, the Churches are decorated in white. *At midnight Greek Churches and chapels are plunged into darkness and the priest lights a candle to represent the resurrection of Christ. The congregation then light their own candles and this is followed by breaking their fast with Easter soup. *

Next to Easter, The Assumption of the Virgin on August 15th is an important festival in the calendar of the Orthodox religion all over Greece when the icon of the Madonna is paraded through the streets. This is followed by communal feasting and partying which can go on for days.

There is no doubt that the Greek Orthodox religion plays a very important role in the lives of its people. The visitor to Greece will be welcomed into their celebrations and cannot fail to feel the spirit of their religion as expressed by their festivals.

Sole Orthodox Church In Southern Tajik District Closed

KHATLON, Tajikistan, -- The local authorities in a district in southern Tajikistan have closed its only Orthodox church, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.

Local official Dilbar Nurova said on April 20 that the church in the Jaloliddin Rumi district of Khatlon Province was closed because it was not officially registered.

She said the congregation had submitted a registration application, but it was rejected because of "some shortcomings."

Nurova said that when the congregation submits a revised application, the church will be registered and they will be able to worship there. She noted that three local mosques have also been closed and must reregister.

Lyudmila Khojaeva, who heads the Union of Russian Speakers in Khatlon Province, said that closing the church just before Easter, one of the most important Christian festivals, is a blow to local Orthodox Christians. She said the authorities should have allowed more time to prepare the application for registration.

Russians are believed to account for 3-5 percent of Tajikistan's population of 7.3 million people.

The registration of new places of worship and the registration of existing mosques and churches is mandatory under the controversial law on religion passed in 2009.

That law has served as the rationale for closing mosques and some churches. During the first three months of 2011, 229 mosques were closed in Khatlon Province alone.
