Shocks! Magaling si Thomaz ngayon. He's a clay specialist. All his titles are clay.

    Streaks :)

    From a comment in a tennis.com article:

I'm glad some people are noticing the discrepancies among records. The facts are as follows. Before 1987, the end-of-season championships, known then as Masters Cup and now as WTF, were played in January the following year. The season started later. Lendl started 1986 with 29 wins, 4 were Masters Cup matches for the end of the 1985 season, and 25 were matches for the 1986 season. So we should talk about two different kind of records. start-of-season and start-of-year. With Novak's win today, here are the records:

BEST START-OF-YEAR WINNING STREAKS IN THE OPEN ERA
    1. John McEnroe 42 (1984)
    2. Bjorn Borg 33 (1980)
    3. Novak Djokovic 30 (2011)
    4. Ivan Lendl 29 (1986)
    5. John McEnroe 23 (1985)
    6. Pete Sampras 17 (1997)
    7. Roger Federer 16 (2006)
    8. Andre Agassi 15 (1995)
    8. Stefan Edberg 15 (1987)

BEST START-OF-SEASON WINNING STREAKS IN THE OPEN ERA
    1. John McEnroe 39 (1984)
    **2. Novak Djokovic 30 (2011)**
    3. Bjorn Borg 28 (1980)
    4. Ivan Lendl 25 (1986)
    5. John McEnroe 23 (1985)
    **6. Pete Sampras 17 (1997)**
    **7. Roger Federer 16 (2006)**
    **8. Andre Agassi 15 (1995)**
    **8. Stefan Edberg 15 (1987)**

**Starts of season including the Australian Open.
This is relevant because before 1987 the Australian Open took place in November, so it was easier to get a winning streak to start the season, as can be readily seen. Novak has the longest winning streak to start a season since the Australian Open was incorporated, with 74.6% advantage over 2nd place Sampras and 87.5% advantage over 3rd place Federerer.

    31-0!

    Mutua-Madrileña Open 2011 (Madrid, Spain)
    1R: bye
    2R: d. Kevin Anderson(KSA) 6-3, 6-4
    3R: d. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez(ESP) 6-1, 6-2
    QF: d. David Ferrer(ESP) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3
    SF: d. Thomaz Bellucci(BRA) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1

    F: vs. Rafael Nadal(ESP)

Tomorrow, a streak will end. Here's hoping it's not ours. =)
